I had a fabulous bike split today!

I did the same course last year for my first tri (on a hybrid in a hurricane) and was over an hour for the bike leg. DFL in the AG.....

TODAY...my goal was 45 min and even with a quick stop to check the rear cluster (it didn't catch right when I shifted and felt like it had totally dropped) I was around 45:20.   See my blog for details for now, RR is started but I need splits and the pictures.  I had "for Lucy" written on my leg

WTG Judi! Looking forward to your RR.

I got in 25 minutes last night out on my bike trying, yet again, to figure out the whole balancing thing. It's still not happening. I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps my spinal fusion surgery last year threw off my sense of balance or something?

Anyway, I got in another 50 minutes today on the stationary bike at the gym. I've updated the spreadsheet, but I'm pretty much on target for my goal. I'm at 71.25% right now going into the final push. I need 3 more stages for a total of 99 more minutes to reach my goal.

Anyone hear from Dolores yet about how her race at Vineman went?

Just posted the RR...will add pics when I have technical help since I am a computer klutz.

Hmmm, I don't know that it affects the sense of balance but in retrospect it probably makes it harder for you to make adjustments when you feel off balance which compounds the sense of being off balance.

Nuttin' like sharing your hot sweaty T.I.T.S. with a hot sweaty piglet.

I enjoyed my T.I.T.S. today while watching airplanes land and take off.

On Team Garmin we call your T.I.T.S.  "Frequent And Limited Sessions In Your Saddle" or F.A.L.S.I.Y.S.  for short.  If you want to see big T.I.T.S. look at Garmin... we get the Dolly Parton Award.

Get A Garmin... or Get Lost!!!

21.75 more miles today. Looks to me like I'm done. I went over my 138 mile goal.  Unless we have to do the stages as well. If that's the case, then I'll be done Wednesday or Thursday.

Have a great week everyone!!

Watch it there sonny... respect your elders!!!

BTW... I see where Barloworld is pulling sponsorship of your team after this season due to the boys spending too much time at the drugstore.  Maybe your team can be Team WallyWorld next year and have Chevy Chase as coach.   As for Garmin... we'll be there at least through 2010.

You are right.... when all you do is go around the block a couple of times you dont need a Garmin.. but when you go 3 quarters of the way across the next state it helps to have a device to tell you where you might get water.

BTW... in the Race Across America this year the Swiss cyclist Martin Jakob went 30 miles off course despite the fact that race officials had put down white turn arrows in the road at all turns and his support crew driving 20 feet off his arse had a route book that is about as detailed as possible: e.g. turn left at dead skunk on right side of road.  Word is that his crew was using a TomTom instead of a Garmin.

Like we say Get a Garmin or Get Lost Sealed

Barlowers - I can only assume the events of today have fowl play written all over them.  And from the looks of it, I belive it may be that garmin-I'm-not-man-enough-to-wear-my-argile-anymore $hitpolte team that's up to no good.  First, they sabotaged my efforts to register for IMLP online and caused the race to sell out on-site for the first time ever.  Then, in my consolation ride this afternoon, they placed big nails in the road and one went through my tire, tube, and wheel... it's stiking out of the inside of my wheel like a second stem and there's a big crack in my rim.  So now I am wheel-less, and scrambling to come up with one even though this bike was on it's last legs.  I shall be doing some serious riding to meet my goal - fear not.

PS - how long do we have left?

Ah. I see I need to retract my statement.

Old people with Garmins not only overcomplicate things, they clearly have an astounding excess of time on their hands. No doubt we'll be hearing about randonnees next, as if it's the miles that count, and not the goal. Plus, as I recall, you need one of these to find water, not a Garmin:

Wait, is that YOU? < snerk> I think I see your avatar...

Hey Gang!! I've been missing all the trash talking! My T.I.T.S. have been saggin' as well. I hate to bring the team down but life has been getting in the way of my T.I.T.S. Missing my 6 hr ride Sunday killed me. (Not to mention put me a bit behind for IMKY training.

I'm still doing what I can when I can and smiling. You guys and gals are kickin' some butt, even without Garmins. Keep up the great work!!
