Expert 1083 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Peachy November Challenge WhenAllElseFails - 2008-11-04 8:50 AM I admire you guys who use the trainer. I bought one but couldn't take the smell of burning tire rubber. I think I'll just take spin classes and on warm days bundle up and go for a ride outdoors. I like the idea of a trainer. Being on my own bike. Getting used to the saddle for long periods of time, but I just can't take that smell. You guys are hard core. I admire that. What kind of trainer do you have? I've never experienced the burning tire smell - that doesn't sound good! This peach challenge forced me to move yesterday. Not much, but I did some PT strengthening and stretching that I've been slacking on. I was so busy yesterday it was a perfect day to do nothing but I squeezed in the PT to get my peach square! |

I don't have a burnt rubber smell going on when I use the trainer. Interesting. I have heard a lot of people complain about the abuse their tire gets from the trainer. *knock on wood* I haven't experienced any of that. |

Member 279 DC Metro | Subject: RE: Peachy November Challenge So this morning I was ambitious. My longest run so far has been less than 2.5 miles. My polling place was 1.6 miles away. Today was supposed to be 24 minutes of run/walk intervals. So I decided to do my run/walk intervals to the polling place, vote, eat a snack, walk or do run/walk intervals back home. Reality was... Did run/walk intervals almost all the way to the polling place. Took a wrong turn. Checked google maps on blackberry. Headed back in right direction. Got to polling place, walked in, saw huge line (which I never saw the end of). Decided to go back home. Walked and drank some soy milk I brought with me. Walked for a bit. Then did a few normal run/walk intervals (3 min run, 1 min walk) until I got to a steep incline. Tried to do run interval up the hill. My legs quit on me (stupid legs). Walked for a minute, then ran for 90 seconds, walked for a minute, ran for a minute. I was close enough to home that I decided to use the rest as a cool down walk. Got home and did stretches. All in all, took me 54 minutes and the route was a bit hilly. |

No I don't even know what that is. I don't use a trainer tire and I still don't have a burning smell nor have I ever had to replace a tire *knock on wood again*; although, I know a friend who has worn out his rear tire from trainer use. |

Extreme Veteran 877 Pa | Subject: RE: Peachy November Challenge Got in a lifting session today and 30 minutes on the bike at the gym. I needed to waste time since I had an errand to run that could be done until 7:30 and then I went to cast my vote. At my voting place they had two lines, one for anyone with their last name beginning with A-K and the other l-Z. There was about 100 people in my line (L-Z) and ABSOLUTELY NOBODY in A-K. SHEESH! |

Colorado | Subject: RE: Peachy November Challenge I have a sore muscle all of a sudden...I'll call it my "groin" and I'm not sure if it was swimming with the fins on Sunday, long bike ride, or run that contributed...maybe all 3 did. Anyway, I just went for a walk last night as I didn't think anything else was going to fly. I have been stretching, too, but not timing it, so I haven't logged it. I may have to just time my stretching tonight and log it for my peach? |

I may have to just time my stretching tonight and log it for my peach? That'll work! Sorry you're in pain! I had the same problem when I was doing long runs. I bet is was a combo of the run and fins. Hopefully it heals fast. |

No I don't even know what that is. I have a "trainer tire" now -- it's the tire that became square from riding my trainer last winter To have a burning rubber smell, the resistance might not have been tightened against the tire enough, would be my guess. |
