I'm getting ready for a Trainer ride. I'm really looking forward to actually riding outside. I think I'm going bike shopping today. Maybe that will help spring get here sooner! Here's a link to my shopping thread:

I hope everyone has a good weekend!  I'm going to deal with a blow to my job (pay cut and reduced hours), but no big deal - I hope...

That just one more day to be able to do long rides and runs!  Hooray!!!!!

I feel for you. I took a 20% pay cut in January. Times are hard at the moment. I'm just thankful that I'm self employed and my jobs not in danger. Even if I have no spare cash I can still run & ride.

"Nice consistancy...

So what's your game plan? I see your first tri is in Jun. then you have to start getting up for that IM. Have a plan picked out yet? When does it start?"

figured that I would move this conversation here from my Blog, in hopes that others might benefit.

As far as my annual schedule goes, I picked races in general up through early August and then we will approach them as A, B or C races depending on where they fall in the overall Plan.  (nothing next year other than IMoo is A, the rest, including Silverman are B or C races)

I am working with Kris Swarthout at SCS Multisport primarily for my training plan, so what you see in my plan is the next week or so of training only.  We have a high level plan with hours etc., but the details are worked out based on performance in training week to week.  So no BT plan per se.  I do work with Kris occasionally on Technique.  He is responsible for getting me out of completely hating running (with pain in every step)... took a few months, but we got there!

So basically, the entire year is gearing up for the IM with a few "races" mixed in as training.  It will be interesting to see if I can hold back in some of them that fall in build phases of the training plan.

Right now, I am just finishing up a Swim Base and moving into a Run Base...

I figured the IM was your "A" race.  But felt compelled to ask.  June seems so far away to have selected a plan, but I understand now knowing you have a coach...

It all seems far away right now... 223 days away and sometimes hard to stick to it.  (JUST finished a 30 min EZ spin on the trainer)  I don't know how you kept it up getting ready for Silverman?  Any tips?

I seem to have plateaued (sp?) on weiight again, but getting some new PR's in various swim lengths.  (don't measure that stuff on the Treadmill or Trainer and up here in the frigid tundra, not much of a chance of getting out lately.

The week has started off well. We have the first heavy snow of the winter but I have managed to get two brick workouts done in two days.

Fear

It was a grind, that's for sure.  I think I just kept thinking that I was SO not ready to do an IM, and I needed all the training I could get.  I used a 20 week plan and just focused on finishing the week (and sometimes, just finishing the day) instead of looking that far forward.

Is there some closer races you could do?  I threw in a couple Oly length races during my training.  It was really cool to see my times get better just because I ws doing so much more s/b/r by training for the IM.  It helped knowing that all the training was for more than just one race, but the foundation to seasons of racing.

'

Nine miles. A half-hour of Hell.

If I can get in a few more rides and a couple runs, I should be able to perform respectably. Strangely, my running helps every discipline by leaps and bounds.

It was pretty, good weather today amount 47. Actually took the bike on the road! Rode for 50 minutes felt good. After I got home I changed and went for a run. I'm really looking forward to spring.
I bought a new bike yesterday. ended up going with the Cannodale Six 6 in red. I'll probably pick it up next month. They had a Cervelo P1 tri bike that looked very, interesting too.

Took the week off.  Felt like crap.  Hopefully this coming week will be better.  I don't know if we're going to make it to Las Vegas in time for Iron Girl.    Keep your fingers crossed for me.

My wife is in the same boat on IronGirl Las Vegas... we haven't quite pulled the trigger on travel arrangements yet...  I will let you know if we are going to be there!
