TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit Slugger - 2009-01-15 1:51 AM Hey gang! I've actually been giving a lot of thought to the cutoff. I think I'm going to drop it entirely. I like cutoffs because they weed out the people who are no longer doing the challenge. But with the nature of a lot of people's goals, as you guys pointed out, you just might not be at 30%. Also, I didn't expect so many people to have so many goals when I first set up the challenge. So I'm going to take a look at the spreadsheets on Sunday after the second week is done and see if there is any obvious pattern. If there is someone not participating at all, I'll likely drop them. But as long as you are participating, I want everyone to keep chipping away at their goals. As I said before, I don't really care what percentage you get done, I want to see people really challenging themselves to grind through their workouts during good times and bad. Robert, let me know in some form if you are upping your goals, either on here or in a PM. Raising the bar is a big part of what I look at in the standings, so I definitely want to know what's going on. Does that answer everyone's question? Lemme know what you think. I'll post this in the other threads, too, to see what they think there. I think that sounds like a great approach Slugger! |

Master 1529 | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit Hey gang!! Sorry been MIA lately. TV guy was here tuesday to switch over all of our phone/internet/tv and it took him about 5 hours so I didn't have access to any of those for most of the day. Yesterday the school called and said my eldest might have pink eye and to please come and get her. So spent the rest of the day doing laundrey and watching her (I didn't think she had it/just thought she want to visit the nurse) Well guess what, just got back from the Dr.s office and yup you guessed it pink eye in both eyes. FUN FUN FUN. Oh the joys of kids in school and all the germs they share. Did get in a run last night even though the last few days I have had less then zero energy levels. I don't know whats wrong with me. I sit down for any length of time and I'm out like a light. Ok, sorry about the book here guys. |

Master 1529 | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit One piece of exciting news for me, I'm going to be getting a set of rollers this weekend. I'm pretty excited and nervous about that. I can't wait to really start riding, never have before. Any good beginer tips not only for a newbie biker but (from you ladies) a female newbie biker. What to do or not do. Also any tips on roller rides? |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around. Traveling to new areas always seems to throw me a bit for awhile. Not sure why, just always seems to work that way. Tomorrow we're heading back to Pasco, WA for the night, then to Kalispell, MT for the weekend. Somewhere in there I am going to get some training in! Kristin- Congrats on getting moved! |

Keep us informed on how it goes. As far as just biking in general, make sure you have good bike shorts and build up your time gradually. |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit I got in 3 miles today - not what the plan called for, but was what my schedule allowed for - :/ trying to work and train can be challanging sometimes I'm sorta slow, so it really is hard for me to fit in anything over 3 or 4 miles during the work week - I'm making progress though! |

I had to be in Brooklyn at 8 and literally just got home. I think the exhaustion and emotions are finally catching up to me. I may have underestimated what it would be like to go through this move and massive life change. I'm just more tired than I've ever felt in my life. |

Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit Hey team. It's a new day and I'm hoping a better one. I'm just wrapping up loose ends at my old place and then heading out to Brooklyn for good. I'm taking the cat today to introduce him to his new home! I've got about 4 boxes that my husband's movers are picking up today so I'll have to figure out how to get that stuff from his apartment to mine, which is about 6 blocks away. The only thing I'm worried about is my toaster, I need it for my english muffin addiction. I'll likely be booted from the challenge for not making 30%, but I'll still work toward my goals. The rest of the month should be much better for me. The first half was just crap. I'm starting up with my coach on Feb 1 and can't be out of shape and lazy Have a great day everyone. |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Grit Hi Kristin! Hope today is a better day! BTW I don't think you'll be booted from the challenge, since slugger isn't enforcing the 30% rule and instead just looking at wether you've made an effort. You've definitely made an effort! You really aren't that far off from you're goal and since this challenge is all about it being CHALLENGING, I think you're doing awesome! So... I hope you will stay and don't feel like you're dragging the team down because you're not. Do what you can and if you get as much done as you could given life circumstances, you've been successful. Anyway, I'm sure we'll all understand and support whatever decision you make, but I do hope you'll stay |
