In 2009 I forgot my headlamp in T2, along with my long sleeve shirt. When you are slow like me it gets dark AND cold. I'll do better this year. |

I'll do better this year.Don't forget you will have over an hour of extra light this year compared to 2009 since you'll be on daylight savings time still. Sunset is at 6:23, that would've gotten me through the dark park in 2009 which would've been nice. I did notice some folks with real small clip on there hat bill style lights, looked light weight and had enough light to help with those drops in the sidewalk if you plan on being out there later or the day is cloudy. |

I've done some dark runs lately & it sure is different. A light makes it very nice to see where you're stepping. Edited by Oldteen 2011-09-19 11:00 PM |

Master 2202 Canton, Michigan | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread akbreezo - 2011-09-20 7:04 PM How about advice or suggestions for spectators? My wife hung out at the T1 area. I did see some family and friends near the swim start but there's limited parking in that area, but I would think it's doable since it's a built up residential area nearby and it's off season, you may have to walk a ways. After I left T1 she hit our the house we rented on the run course just outside of the downtown area and I think took a deserved nap. I did see a couple of cars out on the course cheering some folks on I never drove the course and knew my wife wouldn't on race day. She was able to get over to the battleship using the water taxi and was there when I hit T2 and thankfully got some decent pictures since the company that Set Up uses had about the worst pics I've ever purchased from an event. After I left T2 the water taxi's weren't to packed as of yet, so she went back to the house, if your not staying downtown there's a lot more to do in Wilmington then the Battleship. She was there for three of my passes and then headed back to the finish area on the water taxi after I headed out to the park again. She didn't have any issues and getting back when I finished in just over 12 hours wasn't to much of an issue but timing is everything. She said there were significant waits for the half iron finishers to get back to town which must have been true since I saw folks carrying there stuff and pushing there bikes on the run course to get back to the downtown area which isn't the easiest walk after racing. Some called taxis which they did let into or near the battleship area. Lots of good places to eat and drink in Wilmington, just make sure to feed the parking meters they take there parking enforcement seriously. |

No offense meant to B2B or RD, but I am POSITIVE it will be after dark before this IM newb hits the finish line I'm having flashbacks to active duty. We had all kinds of attitude checks, my favorite was the pilot attitude check: "That place way down there looks like it sucks." Unless I can finish in the Pacific time zone, I expect to be in the dark again this year. |

And you can wear a wetsuit to help on a crisp OWS. What has me is forecast for heavy rain tomorrow for my scheduled long ride. I really despise trainer rides >60-90min. Master 2490 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Last few weeks of training in front of us.. For myself, it's what I was doing in June/July that'll have more impact on how things go on 10/29 but I'm planning on a few long weeks just the same..Two more rides 110+ and two others @ 75+..Two runs of 15+(inclu. one that's a long brick)..Usual 2-3x/week swimmy swims. In short, a garden variety last push to 140.6 Anybody doing anything interesting with their training with <5weeks to go? |

253 | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I was able to ride the B2B course on a computrainer yesterday. Did the first 101 miles in just under 5 hours. Feel pretty good about this ride. I'll probably shoot for another 18 mile run, then another 16 or so at a faster pace and start tapering that down from there. Also planning to ride at least 1-2 more centuries, whether outside or on computrainer, not sure. peace ben |
