Fred D - 2012-03-27 4:32 PM They just changed the bike course.

is the change the out back portion at the southern most point?

http://ironmanmonttremblant.com/course/bike/

makes no difference to me. Still includes those hills up to the Lac

WTC sent an email. It was also on ST.

I laughed out loud at the point under 'Race 411' about the hills and starting to do big gear workouts.

Uh, yeah, thanks for the reminder.

I emailed Ironman Mont Tremblant, asking them why they changed the course and this is the response I got.  Sounds good to me!  More cheering the better

Hi Brian,

The changes were made so the race would go through the heart of Mont-Tremblant village to make it more pleasant and memorable for the racers. A fairly large crowd of local business owners and employees as well as local residents are expected to cheer you on during this section and we hope that you will carry that energy to the finish line. Have no worries, the bike course will have 180km (112 miles).

Cheers and all the best.

I just noticed the run route is different as well.  I went back and looked at the original PDF they posted and now it doesn't look like we go up that nasty looking hill right out of transition and then a small section around the village but rather we head right out on the road and do that loop in the village at the end and go down the hill instead of up.  There is also a section added onto the trail section along Lac Mercier.

Maybe this isn't new and I just missed it...

I wish I could get up there beforehand and bike the course.  Why do you say driving the course beforehand is a bad idea?

I'd like to Fred but I likely won't be arriving until Monday afternoon sometime.

That's kinda been my experience too.  When I drive a course in a car, I think it's going to be way harder than it ends up being.

Only exception was Savageman, where driving to the Westernport wall was helpful. Driving the course sucks away a lot of confidence for me.

Oh, Yeah, Savageman would be a rude awakening sight unseen. My buddy made it up the wall ill prepared, but for me, it was only the practice run that made it possible. Great Race.

Now back to regular programming.

How was everyone's weekend? Weather.com pulled an April fools on me (or I just can't read a weather report) and rode 4 hours yesterday, with 2.5 in pouring rain and low 40's temps. Hoping I just rode in the worst weather of the season. Bbbbrrrrrr. I am STILL cold!

I'm still hanging out on the trainer.    3 hours and 10 mins yesterday watching the 70.3 live stream from Texas.

Training has been going great.  I've been riding outside for a few weeks with my new PowerTap toy, and enjoying the improvements from a winter spent on the Computrainer.   After 2 years of constant injuries, running is also coming along nicely.

But now I have the flu.  I've made my hotel reservations for MT -- maybe the sticker shock is what made me sick!

Had a great ride with my son and dropped in surprising a nephew. Most don't think these are biking distances. Choose to ride on Sunday with Saturday being cooler and more ideal for running.

4 months from today!  Is everyone still on track?  Happy with how things are going??

Personally, I'm happy with where I am at with the bike and the run.  As for the swim, I managed to do something to my left arm and swimming has been aggravating it so I am just going to take 2 weeks off from the pool (like I needed another excuse...) and see if that helps.

I have no complaints. Everything seems to be coming together nicely.

I was most worried about the run. I did a marathon in March and knew that my running volume would drop off significantly once IM training started. Thankfully, my speed and endurance has managed to stick around despite about 1/2 the running as before.

I don't seem to be getting any faster in the pool, but I am finding myself able to hold my paces for longer than before. I've been using the workouts at http://ntcmastersswim.blogspot.com(Usually the A workout, or B workout on recovery weeks). I've found it a great way to mix things up.

I am feeling stronger and stronger with each bike ride. I've mixed things up and done a couple of gravel/dirt races as well as a TT which have helped keep things interesting. I've also been doing a weekly ride with the LBS.  Lots of strong riders and I am constantly fighting to keep pace.  My longest ride so far this season has *only* been 3 hours. I sort of wish I had done a longer ride by now. If the weather holds this weekend, maybe I can get in a solid 4 hour ride.

Out of curiosity, what are most people using for the bike? Road or TT bike?
