lisac957 - 2012-07-27 10:36 AM TJ no one solved our burping problem. Do I need to go to TT with this?!

i was gonna respond but it was an old post by the time i saw it.

has your breathing changed?  burps are caused by excess air.  are you being more or less gaspy?  through your nose or mouth?  shallow or deep?  etc.

^ this was the other thing I was thinking.

i was taught in my track days to always breathe on the same foot (i ALWAYS start my exhale or inhale of a right footstroke), always in the nose out the mouth.  i'm not so good on the in the nose, i blame asthma...

That's interesting I've read you should breath alternating feet because of increased stress on the one leg.  I don't remember where I saw the article though.  I have never been able to breath through my nose effectively.

i can't imagine how breathing stresses your leg.  however, at 11 min miles, i'm not doing any damage anywhere, i'm guessing!

i also only breathe on one side while swimming, but that is purely a shoulder flexibility issue.

It has to do with you tend to land harder when exhaling than when inhaling, if I recall correctly.  I just try to breath how ever I can.

I inhale on the left then do a three-count exhale. So it's a four-count process.

If you play music, you can learn to breathe while running. Just ONE two three four ONE two three four. I even shift my feet if I am not counting properly. Makes all the difference.

Try an early morning run before you eat anything and see if it happens.  I cannot eat anything "real" before I workout or it tends to upset my stomach.

What about having the same issue on the rower?  It's getting bad.  I think it may be because my stomach is not so flat and I do tend to bang the handle against my abs (just below my bewbs) with every pull.

Sounds like you are gulping air because your abs are compressed for part of the stroke, you may be anticipating the compression and trying to get in a bunch of air before you get to bodies over..  First your abs should not be that compressed when you get to the catch , you back should be flat.  Make sure you are not rounding your shoulders either when you finish bodies over or lunging to it when you get to the catch.  I always have to remind myself to keep my chin up so I don't round my shoulders and collapse my core.  Also watch your breathing during the recovery, at a stroke rate of around 22/23 you should be able to take 2 decent breathes on the recovery.  Try counting 1 - inhale. 2 -exhale, 3 -inhale, drive -exhale.

i breathe in 4 and out 4 (or at least i try, usually only breathe out 2 because of my dumb assthma.)

NRG42 - 2012-07-27 7:10 AM Good morning TAN, I am obsessed with visors and excited cause I just got my USA volleyball RL one that I paid 40 bucks for.

Weird.  I'm getting back into visors again as well.  Mostly because of getting back into golf.  I have a couple cool ones from Silveman that I swore I would never wear and was disapointed I got them with my schwag.  But now I likes them.

Heck yeah!  I would have pizza with someone from every country!  I cultural ambassador like that!

Was wondering if there are pizza parties, like the night before their big event?  They plan to wear each other down, before it is game time?

Each athlete was issued 15 condoms (courtesy of Durex) when they recieved their accomodations packages. Meaning 150,000 total were distributed.

They did something like that a olympicse years ago AND they ran out.  They  needed to order another 15k of them.  Sounds like there is a HELLUVA lot of hooking up.  Man I wish I wan an olympic athlete.

Or I was thinking tham maybe they are expensive or hard to find in some countries so there could be hording?  I wonder.  I prefere to imagine the former.

Mornings and I are not on speaking terms but if that's what it takes I might have to sacrifice.
Breathing-wise... Hmmm. I always carry a water bottle and drink whilst running - maybe with the excessive heat I am gulping too much?

Someone else mentioned Zantac helps.. I would really like to avoid drugs

I will tell you though, my homemade pesto burps last night were awesomely nasty.

i cannot drink while running, i always end up gulping air and getting those nasty burps.

i have to come close to a complete stop so i can sip...don't seem to have an issue with bike bottles because there is no way to gulp air.

I sort of learned how to squirt the bottle between my cheek and gums (like a delicious bit if dip) and that somehow keeps air from being swallowed.  But I'm like you, almost come to a walk to drink.

I wish I knew more to be able to contribute more.  So I may be speaking out of turn.
