TankBoy - 2013-03-01 8:18 AM And I don't know about you guys, but I am so crazy-excited and nervous for Yanti I just cannot stand it. She should start at 1pm today eastern time if I have the clock figured out.

Go, Yanti, Go!

Edited - ignore all that weather info - that was from LAST YEARS Live blog. Trying to find the current one now, but WTC has not thought it important enough to make their website very friendly to portable devices...

Their website is not even friendly to regular computers.  I am super excited as well, especially with the news that the water temps are favorable for her

yes, it actually is looking like a GREAT day for long-course racing: light winds, low humidity, a little chilly in the morning, but warming to 24c/78f. Sunny - anybody remember she had sunscreen on her packing list?

TankBoy - 2013-03-01 11:02 AM My February was ok. Got a little cold there near the end but jumped on it and managed it well and it only really set me back a week in starting my Lactate Threshold block. Not sure if my bike and run mileage will go up much this month, but the efforts certainly will. Boosted the swim volume this week - will be doing 3 masters sessions per week from here on out and adding a 4th OWS per week as soon as it is warm enough. So I should have a 50k+ month swimming. not a lot for the fishies, but that will be a ton for me. I would like to be closer to 70k per month for the summer. Our OW group has their first swim scheduled this weekend. water temps are 50 degrees, but air temps are going to be WAY colder than that, so I am out. Hopefully I will start mid-month. Was supposed to do some hard climbing intervals in the mountains tomorrow morning, but my coach just called concerned about the weather (mid-high 20s with possible precip) and may have us doing pursuit intervals with friends somewhere a little warmer/drier. Fun!

Off to the track for progressive 400s later today... I am going to be channeling Salty - I need some of her get-up-and-go!

I looked at a graph of my last 4 years training.  I've never done more than 42k in a month....

Yeah, but look at the logs from when you were a kid..... The rest of us have some catching up to do!

I'll be watching too, I hope their tracker behaves.

Luckily for me, New Zealand is just across the dateline from Hawaii.  So she's one day ahead, one hour behind.  So her cutoff will be 11 pm local time for me and I'll be able to follow all the action.

I wish I had them.  I don't remember what we did but I'm sure being in the pool 8-9 times/week added up to a lot.

Welcome back Melissa!

It is really awesome to see that WTC has upped their game this time around. Now the tracker, New Zealand Website, and Ironman Live are all down before the race even starts. I guess they have learned that is better than getting actually getting our hopes up. I wonder what race registration would actually have to cost to support live tracking and blogging that actually works? Maybe somewhere in the range of $650.00 or so?

Oh, wait....

Yup. Quite anxious. Yesterday the match organization set us an "FYI: match day is in a few day"...pah. Ya cause we are all VERY aware of that right now. I did do it. Second best time ever: 1:56:11. Don't know how I pulled that off but I did!

thanks everyone for the advice. saw two doctors yesterday and they also gave the same info. waiting for a call for a mri, one of the docs is concerned about some kind of leakage inside there given the size of my arm. i checked and i'm allowed 13 indoor rides for the streak. i put my fixie in the stand and did my 45 minute indoor requirement. really didn't want to do it but try to keep the legs in shape. i have a feeling when i'm back on the road and if i decide to try and keep this streak going, my wife will be putting rules into effect, like no  more night riding.

Super congrats on the HM PR! That just show you how much more space you have to improve, once you find out what you are going to be doing for the rest of your life....

Your swimming as aaaamazing, yowza!

I did progressive 1600s on Wednesday. I'm sort of between groups right now, too fast for one group and maybe transitioning into another (but haven't officially) So, after the first rep our coach pulled me aside and had me start 5-10 seconds behind my group with a goal of catching them before the end of the 1600. It was actually a lot of fun and provided a real race-like simulation of running from behind.

Now THAT is an awesome workout! It is too bad that whenever we do pursuit intervals I am always the pursued... Maybe I need to find some slower folks...

Really excited about Yanti's race. Conditions look soooo much better. She'll be off and swimming shortly. Goooooooo Yanti!!!!

I'm also starting to feel very optimistic about spring. I have been sneezing for 2 days now and attribute it to something blooming. somewhere. (it's probably just chlorine from the pool, but I'm going with it.) I was able to run in shorts yesterday, which hasn't happened outside in quite a while. And today, my favorite lunch spot opened up their gelato bar. I had a sample of the newest flavor, dark chocolate cayenne. I may have brought some home with me.  I am going to need sustenance to cheer loudly for the next 17 hours.

tgif!   went to gym yesterday, lifted than swam for an hour, it was my first long swim since last year.  It felt good but wore me out.  Hope to get  a ride in today.

Also today started dieting, cutting out all the junk, so last night had to finish a whole pint of ben and jerry's   YUM!  will not see one of those for awhile.
