Anyone in the group running the Holy Grail (Boston) tomorrow? Good luck if you are! How many of us will be watching the internet feed during work tomorrow? I am just amazed watching the lead pack click off sub 5 min miles then "pick up the pace" during the last 10K.

Power question for the group. My powertap software gives me several power reading averages after a ride. There is Avg power of the whole ride....Avg power while moving....Avg power while pedaling...then finally something called normalized power. I know I need to pick one and use that as my relative performance guage from ride to ride. Do you think that would that be the "while moving" or the "while pedaling"? I would assume I don't want the regular avg because I can't control stop lights and their duration ect from ride to ride. Obviously the while moving and while pedalling are higher so I'm kind of partial to them! Any clue on what "normalized" power is all about? Thanks in advance!

Didn't know we had a Phils fan over here, Monty! Still hard to listen to games without Kalas though Great rides outside LPers, keep having fun out there.

Harry the K is truly missed. Like all the greats he went out a World Champion!

Sometimes when things get really tough during a race or in training, I replay him calling that final pitch, saying, "...swing and a miss -- struck him out! The Philadelphia Phillies are World Champions of Baseball." Gets me a little teary every time.

397 Miles on the Bike.  Had I known I was only 3 miles shy I would have stayed out a few minutes longer to get 400!

Congrats to JackJack on a fast race at NOLA and to everyone else who battled through the cold, windy, rainy conditions this weekend.

LazyM, congrats on your return to running and feeling good while you do it! That's awesome and I hope you continue to get stronger and faster.

Jackjack, congratulations on an excellent race!

Kudos to all of you who biked outside this past weekend. I was in Vermont and woke up to snow that later turned to rain, so I had a "fun" few hours on the trainer instead! I did run outside afterward, though...

I think I'm at... 40 miles for the month of April =(

I DO have a metric century this weekend, but I have to do MUCH better about getting more hours in a single session on the bike.

In good news...I'm doing awesome at prepping for our May swim challenge (<-- not confirmed yet on our thread, but just thought we needed a nudge in that direction!).

Great race Jackie!!!!!

A few important details I forgot in my bio:

1) I am also a philly native (actually, west coast but I grew up in Philly).
2) Go Phils!
3) I went to Penn State so of course Yeungling is always available at my house.
4) I'm only at 251 bike miles.  Of course that week where I didn't ride my bike at all didn't help much.  Nor did cutting yesterday's long ride short because I just couldn't take the wind anymore.

Congrats Jackie!!! What an incredible way to kick off the season.

Bike miles - 314.81... I slacked a little this weekend. Oops. It was so cold and windy I just got tired of it. But I'm biking today, tomorrow and Wednesday so there is a sliver of hope I can catch up.

370 miles.  A little behind schedule, since I wasn't able to ride as much as I wanted last week, but got some quality saddle time this weekend.

194 miles in the last week.  600 is still possible for the month, if I hit ~200 again this week, and it's supposed to be a bigger week.

I am at;

482.50 Mi - 24h 04m 37s

For me it’s not really about the mileage but the intensity that I am doing now.  Yeah coupled with all this wind Central PA is getting its real intense, but hey its make us stronger right?

This is really in prep for my first BIG race, EagleMan so I am really hitting these miles hard.

Tomorrow is a 3 hour ride and I should be able to get in a ride every day through Sunday, so we'll see where that brings me for next week.

This has likely been covered in previous pages, but we're up to 130+ and I couldn't find it using the search function or browsing some previous pages, so my question is what gearing people are using for LP. I need to get a new cassette and chain soon, and I'm thinking of going from my current 12-25 to a 12-27 (or possibly an 11-28). I ride hills pretty well but I don't want to blow my legs out playing king of the hill during the race, so I'd like to have an easier gear I can go to and spin away when I need to conserve. Thoughts?
