So thanks everyone for making me laugh about this whole ankle thing.  I seriously couldn't believe it yesterday.

It's just a little sore and only slightly swollen today, so here's hoping it hurt my ego worse than my ankle.

Keri, yes, I've always been a bit clumsy.  I have wonky depth perception which often results in my walking into doorframes and the occasional wall, but I can't remember a time when I got this consecutively injured as soon as the last injury was just beginning to heal.  This is new.  How speical.

Yep he is my step son and huge into bowling. Helps his father owns an Alley in Terrell TX. He will be bowling State as a freshman the 27th in San Antonio rolling in with a 217 ave. A year ago I bowled vs him. I had 2 great games he had 2 ave games and I beat him 202>200 and 197>195. He will never get a rematch. Dad went out on top.

roadrhino - 2010-03-15 7:58 PM What bowling tourney was it last weekend? Brings back memories of my high school days...usually bowled a national qualifier in Austin that same weekend. Your kids serious into bowling?

Newtons1st - 2010-03-15 12:21 PM Training was shot this weekend because of road trip to Austin for a kids bowling tourny. We did stop by Round Rock Doughnuts for the Kids. The only got 1 each.

I saw the movie she needs. Surrogates. She can sit at home and life her life as a robot. Of course she will still need her house bubble wrapped.

Nicole83 - 2010-03-15 3:58 PM Hahahahhahahaa.

I just twisted my ankle and landed on my face walking out of an appointment this afternoon.

The good news is, I think I got a sympathy sale out of it.

The bad news is, this baby is swelling faster than I can get ice on it.

Hahahahahah.

Come on people, laugh at me.

Did you see the movie Avatar?  Maybe you need to go lie in the thing that looked vaguely like a tanning bed and kick  via your Avatar?  Much safer that way since the bubble wrap does not appear to be working.

BTW, sympathy sales pay off just as well as any other kind.

So you were trying to pull the sexy High Heal, short skirt buisness woman look to earn brownie points and you end up with sympathy points for busting it. Awesomness.

I learnt that you can indeed wash headphones in the washing machine and have them still work.  At least if you have them in your bike jersey.  I can't guarantee any other method.

Apparently the same is true if they are in cargo pants.  I tried to be the good girlfriend and did James's laundry ended up washing his headphones (oops!) but they still work!  However his wallet didn't survive quite as good...

HTFU or rearrange the schedule?  So, today is 30mph winds.  I am suppose to be doing an easy bike ride, and honestly, I think that is all my legs can handle.  It is sunny and warm outside.  I have two off days later in the week.  Rearrange the schedule or just get out there?  Now, I get mental toughness points and all, but seriously, 30 mph winds and easy day just don't go together.

Get out there and enjoy the ride! You can go just as easy into a 30mph wind as you can with the wind.  A powertap would be great in this case but it can all be done at an easy pace

True, and at one point I actually did spin out my gears on the flats (which is pretty hard for me to do) but, on my route that also includes 30 mph crosswinds, and man, do those bite.  BUT, ride is done. Cool

I have to vent.... My mom walks our dog twice a day so about 30 minutes ago she left to go out for the second walk of the day and comes storming back in not 5 minutes later.  Some people that live about 5 houses down from us own about 5 or 6 dogs (they claim they are saving them from a life on the streets but they are pretty much neglected in the backyard.  Two of them had gotten out and ran at her and Skye barking and growling.  Mom carries pepper spray with her and sprayed it at them and thankfully the boy that lives across the street saw what was happening and ran over to help her out and chased them away.  He then told my mom those dogs had attacked his cat earlier today.  This is not the first time something like this has happened.  Last year my mom and Skye were attacked by one of their dogs.  Neither one was bitten but my mom had bruises and scratch marks all over her body from the dog jumping on her trying to bite her.  My dog doesn't like really like other dogs so she was jumping around all over the place trying to get away.  After this incident my parents talked to them about keeping their dogs fenced in and told them about the attack.  These people just don't care.  It makes me so mad I mean my mom and dog were lucky to get away without being bitten, but it really could've been much worse.  They keep making up excuses as to why the dogs get out.  This is now two real attacks from their dogs and they still don't do anything.  We can't even walk or run on our street if the dogs are out because we can't trust them to not attack us.  My fear is they are going to seriously injure or kill some innocent child on our street.  There is a leash law in our state and we've given them way too many warnings about their dogs.  Ok I feel better getting all that out.  I just think it's ridiculous how people can act like this!

Emma, report them to animal control.  I've had to do that before and it has worked every time.  Animal control will take the dogs away if they have to.  Report it each and every single time.

That's what we plan on doing right now.  It's hard though because we've called them before about the rottweiler that lived next door that got out and scared everyone on the street.  We called and several other neighbors called and they got the dog back at least 3 times before the cop who lives on our street decided to call them up himself and tell them to raise the fine above $50 so he couldn't get it back.  I'm hoping they'll be more serious when it comes to these people.

So our condo is officially in contract!  What a huge relief.  The buyer is a single hipster guy who's willing to delay the closing until we finish our new apt's renovation.  I have to say that it seems like the New York real estate market is looking much better.  We had our place on the market for 2 wks and we had over 65 different groups of people walk through our apt and we had 4 offers, 2 within a week of listing.  Now our big project is potty training my son.  He's almost there but this weekend we're rolling-up the carpets and getting special covers for the furniture and putting on the "big boy" underpants..  Any advice is welcome.. It's going to be a fun weekend.

Ran outside for the first time this yr.  It was great.  I really miss running in Central Park, but not all the presents from the horses..

Emma, this is Kim X 2.  Or Kim squared.  Whatever.  Call animal control.  That many dogs out of control is a recipe for disaster.  I know you're worried about your mom and Skye, as you should be (and Skye is one handsome guy.) What if their next target is a child????? Call animal control. The dogs are not the problem.  The owners are.

I got a hold of a blood lactate meter recently and decided to try it out tonight.  Had a friend over for a blood/sweat trainer fest literally. Greg didn't know how to me with the lancet so he just stabbed me the first time.

For those aren't familiar with what a LT test does, it measures the lactate in your blood and you look for a jump in your level. When you see the jump that's your LT which if properly trained should be what you can hold for 1hr, commonly called FTP for biking. Why would you want to do this test? Setting zones is one reason, tracking progress is another but one of the most important reasons (I think) is projecting race performance.

Since my knee was hurting from yesterdays workout, I didn't do as many points so Greg agreed to let me post his nice curve.  You can see the jump from 280-292W so we're going to split the difference and call his FTP 286W and from his HR data we know he was 157bpm.  This data is exactly in line with what we expected his FTP to be, ~290W. His winter training has paid off and is off to a great start to the season...

FTP => 286W 157bpm @185lbs => 3.41W/kg

Nicole - only flats for you from now on.

Good luck with the potty training, I replied to your inspire, try not to force it.  If it happens great, if not that's ok too.  Sometimes stress can cause kids to regress so doing this during a move may be tricky.  Awesome news on the condo!

I won't have a computer tomorrow for about 24 hours.  Ken bought some expensive fruity device and they are going to take stuff from my dinosaur dell and put it in the fruit, something like that.

Spring break is going great!  Yesterday was Cory's day and we had a great time at the mall, bookstore, Chipotle for lunch and he got to laugh at me during my session with Eric.

Today Brendan and I saw Avatar.  I have to say I didn't think I needed to see this movie but it was AMAZING and I am so glad I saw it in a theater.  Then we had lunch at Chili's, he had a issue with his braces so we had to stop at the orthodontist before hitting the bookstore.
Tomorrow is Kerianne's day.  The plan is to start with swimming, lunch at Steak n Shake, followed by her very first pedicure and bowling if we can fit it in.

These lunches are going to catch up with me and with all the kids home it's harder to find the time to work out.  I am hoping Kerianne will be ok watching me get a few laps in tomorrow.

Everything can be measured in training aids now.  Justine reminded me the iMac could have been traded for a he11 of a set of race wheels.  The entire family (short Keri) will rejoice when this iMac is working because the Dell Dino is a piece of crap at this point.  The Apple folks will be moving files from the Dell to the iMac today and I should be able to bring home the computers tomorrow.

The PowerTap / Dt Swiss wheel set purchase hit the credit card so they must be in route.  I won't have them in time for the 60 miles at Chappell Hill this weekend but next weekend training with Power begins!!!!

I probably should have waited for the taxes to be completed to make these purchases but with 5 kids we expect money back every year.

More good news .... our family might be doing a sprint relay in June.  Keri swim, Ken bike, and Brendan (15) run.  This would be a blast, I hope we actually get this in.   Any race I don't have to swim is a good race for me.  Just bike with no reason to hold back for the run....Tongue out
