Sam, that cover looks absolutely awesome, can't wait to have my copy sitting on my nightstand.

I would love to write a book, between going to Iraq, having to give birth to my first child all alone since my husband was deployed for it, big weight loss, and training and finishing the ironman, I think I have a good story to write. I just wouldn't know where to start, publishers and all.

How's everyone doing after the first week post-IM? Anyone getting back into any workouts yet?

I helped my boyfriend move (the day after we got home!) and did some walking last week, but have now come down with a post-IM cold of some sort . Was going to run a little bit this week but might put that off now.

Stay healthy!

Hi, Lisa! I did an easy ride Sunday on the road bike--how refreshing--for about 22 miles and a very, very easy 8-mile run yesterday.  I'm happy to report that the legs, knees, etc. are still fully functional. I just looked up some cyclo-cross races, very low-key but tough events that have taught me a lot about bike handling, so I'm trying to schedule those.  I'll be out on my rollerskis, too, next week to start transitioning to XC ski racing this winter.

But I'm feeling a sort of post-partum with IM Louisville.  Feeling a bit aimless right now without that big target on the calendar.  Anyone else feel that, too?  Kind of like the hush after the holidays and everything settles down again.

I have been sick since the day after the race. I'm on day 5 of taking antibiotics. I came down with a nasty cold that went straight to my chest, so I have not worked out since. I'm trying to get better before we leave for our cruise Saturday. As far as the post IM blues, I'm definitely suffering the effects. I'm trying to decide what to do next. it's tough when you complete a goal you've had for 3 years. I'm sure time away and binge drinking in the Caribbean will make it all better though I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some R and R.

Well all of you who are suffering the blues are welcome up here, I could use some training companions for the next two months

So how many of you will train over the winter??  I usually stop cold turkey after my last event.  Unless I have something on the calendar to train for I really don't want to S/B/R.  I can't wait to go back to weight training, all this S/B/R and I feel so weak

Lisa - sorry to hear about the move.

I was able to train through the long weekend with a couple of tough rides, a run and a open-water swim, but I felt pretty wasted yesterday.  Ambitious plans to get up early the last two mornings for yoga went out the window when the alarm went off.  The heat and, oddly, humidity rolled in yesterday, so I ended up just walking around the lake (5 miles) last night and my quads felt absolutely smashed.  Doing my FTP testing with the new power meter at a local 20k TT tonight.  That's gonna hurt.

I have not had a chance to sit down a write the race report since Louisville. This thing called work is driving me up the wall! Maureen helped me put together the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwLQ9kp2P_k

I want to sign up asap for one but don't know if time allows- seriously considering Louisville and Florida next year, then again, Cozumel would not be bad.

I don't shut down for the year, this Fall / Winter will be improving on the bike & run- and I'll be adding P90X2 come end of November / December,, in the meantime will be Insanity with the regular s/b/r.

Hey, Thomas!  Great vid!  Say, were you one of the first folks into the water?  I was, like 7th or 8th in line at the swim start, too, in the green suit.  I actually fell asleep on the sidewalk for about a half hour since I got there at about 3:30am-ish.  I forgot how dark it was, even at the start.

Its will be awhile before I return to IMLOU, Not planning on doing a lot of fulls to begin with, but have others in mind to cross off first (IMFL, IMWI, IMCOZ) plus youd have to wait 5 more years to get weather like we did this year. We were lucky.

Thanks!- 20th in line turned into first by the time I hit the bottom part of the dock but when they blew horn/cannon- they stopped me and told me I had to wait until all the CEO challenge athletes went first- all in all ended up towards the front..

It is good and bad depending how you look at it.. If you are a slow swimmer- there will be A LOT of people running you down.... I was up front for the first 500 then as I expected- the rest of the fish frenzy started creeping up-- more than a few times I had others trying to grab my ankles.. I kicked back a few times and one of those kicks is where my leg cramping started.. trying to kick others....

by the time I got to the end of tow head island and the last buoy, I was cramping so bad I had to hold on to one of the safety kayaks out there... I have no idea how long I held to kayak but I know a TON! of people passed me and I had those thoughts of not being able to continue all because of the frigging cramps.. anyway...no more boring story... I'll have everything on the RR when I get it done..

Thanks

Moments ago I learned there will be an Iron distance triathlon in Grand Rapids, Michigan for 2012.

The race venue about 30 minutes from my house. Hmmm. Didn't have the 140.6 distance on my radar for 2012...but now...? AND the cost is $300-something for early registration. Hmmm again.

I LOVED and will cherish both of my IMLOU experiences. I think it is an often overlooked Ironman gem. However, similar to CUBE, I don't have intentions of returning, because I will be turning my attention to other events.

I have decided on Ironman Florida for 2013, next year will be focusing on Olympics and 70.3s. For 70.3s my tentitive plans are Orlando in May, Muncie in July, and Augusta in September. Will go down the Panama City Beach next November to Volunteer at IM Florida for 2012 to get a spot for 2013, as well as go ahead and register a beach condo for the event.

I really liked Louisville, but it will be a while before I go back (if ever).  Like some have said, there are a lot of other races that I would like to do and you can only fit in so many IMs in a given year.

IMAZ in 2012!  I just reserved room nights for November in Tempe so that I can volunteer and sign up on site. Eh - that makes two trips for one race, but at least I can drive (and it will be fun to volunteer!).

Just signed up for Bike Check-In at IMFL on Friday from 10-3pm. Volunteers get to sign up for 2012 before general entry opens...sweet.

I'm doing Lake Placid in 2012 and then Wisconsin in 2013.  I will definatley go back to LOU at some point, maybe 2014?  It's nice that it is so close for me.

IMFL is a great venue ~ a little late in the season for me, but a great race.  You will enjoy it!
