Nothing exciting planned for the weekend.  We're taking the kiddo to her first parade. Hopefully I'll be getting a couple rides in, maybe even on the road.  I've been loving the trails lately, getting the heart rate up hitting jumps and stunts instead of from close calls w/ vehicles.

nothing special going on this weekend. last weekend was our long weekend in Canada. Just doing yard work and opening up the pool so I don't have to do it in the summer.
Did about 500m stroke work in the pol and then 700m freestyle albeit with breaks in between each 100. then I sqeezed in a 30 minute run.

Felt crappy yesterday and today, did a short 4 mile run, probly holding of a stomach thing again. Shins irritating me again today. Guess I just need more duct tape.

I got a TI video, but I may need to go to a workshop, its a bit hard to just watch and then do it without any feedback.

I have the outlaws in town right now and my parents are coming tomorrow as staying at my brothers. Going to try to get a swim/bike brick in on Saturday before we have a big family dinner.

Going to a chiroprator tomorrow, first time in a long time. Does anyone go to one regularly or have comments on Chiropratic therapy? I have been up in the air on deciding if there is a benefit, I know my massage therapist and physio therapist don't like them.

I have been having some weird knee problems and I have been to a physio therapist and it still seems to linger around. so I thought maybe a chiro guy could check my hip allignment to rule that out. Maybe just grasping a straws.

have a good weekend everyone. If your training have fun and be safe.

Apparently I am in the minority then. I use a chiropractor regularly. The guy I go to is awesome. He has fixed several things which had been plaguing me for quite a while which the doctors couldn't seem do anything about. He has also given me some excellent insight into the muscle groups and how they all work together. Also some great stetchies to keep me in top shape.
My chiropractor does not do the usual bone cracking but uses a small machine to fdo the alignments. He is the best one I have ever gone to.

My wife swears by hers. She has had a few problems and he fixed her up nicely.

I went to a chiropractor once and it really didn't do it for me.  Massage on the other hand..... YES.

I am going on an easy bike ride this morning to get ready for my first tri on Sunday so wish me luck.  I know I will see a few of you here in Austin this weekend so the best of luck to you.

I go to my chiropractor regularly. I get really bad headaches that the "regular" doctor was trying to tell me it was a brain tumor and had me on Vicodin and muscle relaxers.  Not that I didn't enjoy the Vicodin   After starting with the chiro, the headaches are gone, so is the shoulder pain and occasional knee and shine pain from running. (Don't worry, with 2 MRI's all they found was brain tissue, not tumor).

Take the time to find a good one. Meaning don't use one that won't explain what is physiologically wrong and how to fix it.  If not, they are keeping you in the dark so to guarantee your return business over an indefinite period of time.

About the holiday, I am driving up to the inlaws and making a detour to see my mother as well.  Lots of driving but it should be a good time.  Bought the hubby a "high tech" pair of cycling bibs for our anniversary and therefore we have to bring the bikes with us so he can "test them out."  Hopefully we can turn the rides into brick, because I need the practice.

Happy holidays everyone.

2 weeks until my first tri. did my first 80 minute run. It was hard t get my butt out the door because I hadn't done one before and was not looking foreward to it. I felt great when I finished. Now about 2 hours later I am tired but heading off to do 500 m at the pool. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

10k race this morning. The lack of consistent training over the last few weeks (vacation, damn you!) really have dropped my base a bit, but I am definitely better than before I started training

What else have people done today?

My plan was to get a ride in early, 5:30 rolled around and I just turned the alarm off.  We did ride our bikes, pulling the kiddo in the trailer, to a parade.  Not really cycling, but nice family time.

I'm feeling the need for a race of some sort, I think I'll have to find a road race between now and my first tri in July.  That will also help me up my run mileage.

Good luck to all the racers this weekend and be safe out there!

Had a nice ride with a bunch of other BT'ers on the course we are doing next sunday. 3 loops with a crappy hill at the end of each loop, makes me miss my triple on my Mtn bike....

It did have a nice little hill where I got up to 35 mph though so guess that makes up for it.

Well, the first tri is now done and I am officially hooked and looking forward to the next one (next month).   Anyway, I tried to meet up with Craig on Saturday but the expo was crazy and it took him 8 hours to drive in from Amarillo.  We exchanged voice mails again on Sunday but no luck and randomly ran into each other at the finish line of all places (he was doing the sprint and I was entered in the shorter first tri).  What a small world.  It was great putting a face to a name and am looking forward to seeing him at future races.  By the way, great job Craig on your race.  You kicked butt......

As for my race, it went well and I placed first..... Now, before you get too impressed, it was only the "first tri" for less experienced triathletes (400m swim, 10k bike, 5k run).  I did beat the next closest competitor by over 4 minutes though   I will enter my race log soon but I really wasn't pushed too hard on the swim and bike so I held back a little more than I would have liked.  The run was pretty brutal though as my heat didn't start the swim until after 10AM and it was hot and humid here in Austin yesterday.

I ran 10 miles on Saturday morning, and it kicked my butt for a few days. Today I hiked a bit with my dog.

In a few weeks is a half-marathon I'm running...June 14. I think I'm going to focus on running the Portland Marathon in Oct. for the rest of the summer, so I don't think I'm going to do any more tris this summer. With the amount of running I will be doing for training, its hard to do anything else. Although, I do want to keep up swimming a bit, and biking for transportation when I can. I want to start to do more communiting on my bike.

Anyway, good job on the training and racing that everyone's doing!

Even though I spent Friday and Monday driving 5 hours to and from the inlaws, I had an exercise filled weekend. On Saturday we did a 5 mile hike, followed by the hubby and I doing 16 miles on the bikes and a 2 mile brick run afterwards. (This was my first successful brick since prior to the surgery, so I am making progress).  The next day we were at Longwood Gardens which means - lots and lots and lots and LOTS of walking.  Easily over 3 hours.  Then took the dog for a power 3 mile walk on Monday prior to the drive home.  So I am feeling good, but tired.

I am excited to read everyone's race reports.  Great job gang!

Went for a 13.5 mile train run on Saturday on a trail i will never run again, rocks, mud, ruts, in horrible shape from the cow traffic making 6 inch deep holes in all of the exposed dirt that was not covered by permarooted rocks or loose on the surface rocks. Majory hill for 1.5 miles at about a 33 degree angle, totaly kicked my butt. I ended up walking most of the last 4 miles. Blew out a blister with nice bloody socks when I got home. Got to love that.

So, took Sunday off cant run on my foot yet. Monday went on that same trail with montain bike with son and baby in the back. Ya I'm a slow learner. It rained on us and turned the entire trail into this thick tarry mud. We had to stop 20x to use sticks to clear the tires of mud enough for them to rotate. The mud got so jammed at the brakes that the tire literally would not rotate. Was quite the long painful, frustrating ride. Took like 5 hours to go 13.5 miles. We walked a number of miles. k so there was a pretty seasonal pond about 1 mile long at the end with pairs of ducks and such but... man that is one unforgiving trial. Son bent the back tire on his bike fairly badly in addition to the rest. He may well not go on any further rides with me. Or it may turn into one of those folklore things that gets better the farther away from the event you are or a right of passage for becoming a young man, we see.

It wont be on my regular workout list of runs or bike rides though.
