ajfoster02 - 2008-09-07 7:46 PM My buddy "JamesG" just crossed at 11:33:10. Great work mate! Amazing training ethic and a great person in general. I'm proud of ya buddy.
He certainly had a great race.  How about his negative splitting the marathon.  Looks like he executed his race perfectly.

Hey all...I'm going to be out at the finish line around 10:30-11:00 tonight. Any donkeys left hanging around for a photo finish will have one more set of lungs out there. Congratulations to everyone who has and will finish today!

P.s. if anyone's wondering, I'll be in jeans and a black shirt.

All Thank you for your support today my first IM was an amazing experience. I almost pulled out at mile 50 I got stung by a bee at mile 41 and am very allergic. Started getting dizzy ended up pulling over and getting someone to stab me with my EPI pen so I lost about 10 minutes off my bike split, I was on track for a 2.55 first 56 miles ride. The bike course was brutal.

Ran the marathon and never slowed down ran every step including the aid stations. My fastest miles were 24-26 where I averaged 8.30miles through the last three miles to negative split the run at 4hours and change. I have never run a marathon before so didn't know what to expect really, but to be honest it was the easiest part of my day.

Back at the hotel in bed. As a result of the EPI pen I spent the last 7.5 hours of the race with my HR over 155. Which is my Half IM HR. Just relied on my powertap and my garmin to hope I was doing the right thing. Really happy with 11:33 but a little dissapointed it wasn't closer to 11:15. With some focus on transitions which were a shambles for me and no Bee sting woudl have been close.

Anyway thanks for your support.

Well I am back at the hotel and I can say that was the best weather you could hope for at IM!  Congrats to anyone who qualified!

Edit: I saw Birke still walking at camp randall when I was heading in.  It looked like he was going to finish even if he had to walk.

Dude... Unreal. Way to kick despite the, uh, unexpected delay.

Agreed.  If I have to use my epi pen, I stop workouts.  I can't imagine finishing an IM after that.  Great job.
