Katie, I am a freelance writer and I write for several publications here in town, including a medical magazine. That is where most of the interviews are generated. I have also edited a couple of books by local doctors, and generally just seem to spend a lot of time around those in the medical field!

I also founded my own surrogate agency, matching couples with surrogates, and the REs office and I have a lot of contact as a result. We did a TV segment together back in May. Like I say, I just seem to hang around that community a lot.

triguynewbie - 2008-10-03 6:15 AM I have met a lot of great people and training partners here at BT. I would not be anywhere near where I am now on a training standpoint without BT.

I hear you there.  I need to run.  I got up a hour early to get some stuff taken care of...that hour has come and gone and school will start soon-and I am not even done getting dressed!

FYI-When I am on the computer in my room I am very rarely fully clothed.  Laughing

again... I love BT  LOL

kromanowski - 2008-10-03 8:35 AM I was a swimmer until I went to college...which in some ways makes triathlon easier and harder for me...I am good at what most people are scared of, but in the end is probably the least important to be really good at.

Eh... It's probably the least important to be fast in, but being good at it helps immensely.  If you get out in a reasonable amount time without feeling like you are dying, you have a big leg up on most people.

triguynewbie - 2008-10-03 9:13 AM A friend of mine was looking at the pictures on my cell phone and wanted to know why I have a picture of my abs in the mirror on there. When I told him it was for before and after photos and so I could see if there was a difference he thought I was wierd and has been ragging me about it at work. Am I the only one that does this?

No, but I think I'm going to do that.  I've lost about 20 pounds since I started here a few years ago and I was way too embarrassed to take a picture at that weight.  Now I kind of wish I had.

I started off as a swimmer, too.  It's nice because you have good form to start with.  Plus, I feel like it's easier to get better at running with biking with less work.

triguynewbie - 2008-10-03 7:38 AM I love brussel sprouts!

I don't know if we can be on the same team now.  There is something very wrong with people who eat those hideous things

In all honesty I have never tried a food that I didn't like. More like that I couldn't eat. I think my taste buds don't work as well as others or something. I am very easy to grocery shop and cook for though

heh... same here.  The Heatwave is a big tri in our area.  It's Olympic distance except for the swim is only half a mile for some reason.  I was either 5th or 6th out of the water in the first wave (males 18-40).  That means I passed NOBODY the rest of the race  I'm getting better at holding them off, though!

That's the weird thing.  Brussel sprouts are just about the only thing I refuse to eat.  Along with blue jollyranchers.  Well, any blue candy really.

That's not a very aero looking steed.  Seat is to high anyway.  Besides, we're supposed to be running this month.  Riding a horse is cheating.

Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red...
Subject: RE: Ghosts and Ghouls Team Thread
Morning, teamies!

Hard to catch up with you chatty folks, but I'll tri...

1) Before & after pictures rock. There are some of me on the B&A thread in Tri/talk. (And yes, it was embarassing scanning in the before pix - egads!)

2) I eat most things, but I don't like them all. I'm learning to eat cauliflower. I don't really like it, though.

3) I'm not medically inclined. Well, that's not true - my undergrad is biomedical engineering and I considered med school ... until I failed Organic Chem....twice.

4) I didn't run today, but I had a fantastic bike ride.

Vampires are also apparently not very smart.

It doesn't matter who you choose.

My favorite? Courtney Cox stopping, thinking and say "I did have 5 friends."
