Sorry I haven't been around.  It's been a mess at the office, which prevents me from spending time on BT and with the group.  I will make a point to check in on everyone this week.

Take care!

I've heard only good things. Haven't tried it myself though.

I went skiing and snowboarding this past weekend, it was my first ever attempt at Snowbaording, that was fun!!!  I am sore as hell. So as I continue to punish my body i did Yoga last night forthe first time ever, boy oh boy was that a workout!!  i am sore as hell today and have a short run after my tri club meeting tonight. Hope everyone elses activities are going well!!!

I like it a lot.  I was getting some knee pain/ache (nothing too serious) and decided to do some of the ITB stretches the suggest.

It hurt like hell the first couple times, but after the ITB gets a little looser, it doesn't hurt as much.  Knee pain went away.  I pretty much use it now when I remember or feel any aches in the knee come back.

Staying active is the important part.  You at least start at a certain level of fitness when you get back into it.

Like snowboarding, huh?  I love it.  The wife wants to learn, so I might take her up to the MTN and get her on a board.

I love skiing but have never tried boarding yet. I plan to have a go next winter.

Quick question for you guys. I'm looking for some compression running tights. Any recommendations? I have been looking so far at 2xu, Nike and Skins.

Sorry, never used them.  I heard good things about them, but I'm not sure the science behind them is confirmed (if they really help or not).  Lots of pros use them, though.

I agree. No confirmed science for training and mixed results for recovery. I need some warmer running gear though and I thought I would give them a try. Worst outcome is that I see no performance improvement but they keep me warm!

"Warm" is key!  I jus tgot some leg and arm warmers for the bike.  Love them.  I have actually ran in the arm warmers in a race.  It was cold after the bike, so I left them on!

aidana - 2009-02-11 12:17 PM What do you guys know about compression socks?

Nothing but they reportedly help with fatigue during training/race and aid in recovery if worn after.  No realy scientific confirmation of that, but seems to be the next hot thing in LOTS of sports, not just multi/endurance sports.

OK... am I losing my mind or does anyone else do this?

I find myself running everywhere, into the grocery store, into and out of work?  It just feels like walking is so slow lately?

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but it is strange!  (atleast I see people looking at me like I have lost my mind)

Thought it was just me!

I've started running to and from the gym. No wonder people think triathletes are weird!!

Bike is at the shop for a final tune-up, with my friend's 404s on her. Bar tape foes on tonight.

T-minus TWO DAYS to race day.

Race is nine miles. I want to break 30:00.

'kido, I decided to go with the roadie set-up. Too involved to re-run the brifter cables and whatnot this close to race day, plus my LBS is in the process of moving locations. K.I.S.S.

Of course.  No need to re-run cables.  Sometims they won't work with both.  I needed to get longer cables when I made the switch.  The bar end shifter were farther away then the STI shifters.  Needed new cables and housing.  Not a hard chore, but a litte time consuming.

Extra cables owuldn't have bene a problem. My thing was gambling that my set-up would be decently comfortable for the half-hour of hell.

Plus, pics from previous years showed a lot of guys on road set-ups.

I have a question for you guys.

I was reading a discussion in the main forum yesterday about running slow versus fast. The main agreement from most of the BT guys is that it is better to build volume at slow, low HR ~zone 2 pace and your race speed will increase with your endurance base. Makes sense to me.

My main problem and I guess question, is what do you do when your time is "maxed" out already? The general concensus seemed to be that 20miles/week is not enough for anything more than sprints. I currrently train 9-10hrs/week and try to put in 20miles/week run. That is about all I have time for before bike and swim time suffers. Bearing in mind that the bike leg is the majority of the race and we/I should give it the most focus. Once the weather breaks I can probably add another hour training per week which will be on the bike. Is it possible to get faster and reasonably competitive at OLY distances on my run volume, or should I stick to sprints?

What is the feeling amongst you guys?

I am soooo glad you brought this up, i had the same confusion as you, and have read differing opinions on the subjuct, multiple times. When i get off my lazy azz, we seem to have the same time constraints for scheduling workouts, especialy with the cold short days. Thanx for asking this question and I hope we get some clarification.
