Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Two weeks away...Who's ready. I'm ready on the swim.. Just joined swim team and will be swimming 4500yds 5 days a week for the next week and 1/2. This weekend I biked hellas. 76.5 yesterday by myself and today another 70 in a group ride. The run I'm not where I wanted to be but I think I'll be able to knock out a 1:45 at the end of the race. |

![]() | ![]() Any chance there is anyone out there that wants to save some money and would be willing to have a roomate for kansas? I was staying with my brother (who was also going to be my means of transportation) a few hours away, but he just cancelled on me and now I'm in a major bind. I'm coming from Philadelphia, and would pay my share of hotel room, gas, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! You can email me at [email protected]. Thanks! |

![]() | ![]() Horray horray for the email we got yesterday with pre-race instructions! That clears a lot of things up. Less than two weeks now... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, I am going to whine a little bit here. So if someone has a pillow I can cry on I would appreciate it. I just saw the swim waves schedule for the race and the men's 30-34 and men's 35-39 are almost 12 and 13th waves to go (out of 14 waves). That means weaving our way through masses of people. I am a bit perplexed by this to say the least. . . . I wonder what the reasoning is for this? Ok. . I am done complaining. . back to traininig. |

Same as last year, and yes it does create a MASS of people to weave through... on the swim as well as the bike. |

Same as last year, and yes it does create a MASS of people to weave through... on the swim as well as the bike. It's so that you can maximize your use of legal drafting in order to improve your overall bike split without doing anything outside the rules. That is just part of the whole race experience, just dealing with what is dealt to you. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() HAHA...They didn't change the swim waves because I'm not in one. Just turned 17 two weeks ago and they changed the age groups on the other page but not the swim waves. I guess I can just start whenever i want to. |

Purely a guess but by starting the 'more seasoned' athletes first it gives them more time to make the cutoffs. The first wave after the pros is all of the oldest folks who will be out on the course. Perhaps they've looked at race trends of this group taking the longest to complete and are trying to give them ample opportunity to make the cutoffs. Edited by lisac957 2009-06-01 12:31 PM |

Also, you want to clear the course as soon as possible, ergo let the slower waves take off first. |

I am better now. ![]() Thanks for the answers. . . makes perfect sense. I am pretty pumped for the race. . . . after yesterday's less than stellar performance, I am ready to get at it again. Safe training everyone! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have heard that part of the run course goes over some gravel or some sort of rocks? Is this correct or is it all on hard packed surfaces ( asphalt/concrete). I was hoping to wear some racing flats, but if you have to run over jagged uneven surfaces, that won't work. Thanks for the info. |

So the campground roads are fully paved- they are not the more typical dirt and rock-type road that we ran on last year? I will believe you, if you've been to the new campground and seen the roads. I know it's a completely different run course than last year, I've just never personally been to a campground that had fully, 100% paved roads ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() tri-dg - 2009-06-02 2:53 PM everything is paved every where. THANKS! ![]() Cool, a paved campground ![]() The one thing I'll miss, is that since only athletes will be camping, we won't have the random families that got trapped inside of the campground, drinking their 12-packs of budlight, gawking/cheering at us crazy triathletes running around in spandex, handing out beer. Man, that was hysterical ![]() |
