Master 1641 Seattle, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge GoGoGo - 2009-11-10 5:02 PM Exercise bike...run (7k) & swimming lessons tonite. Bit tired now. Have tomorrow off work.Gonna go for a run in morning!!This learning to swim stuff is hard. Im making progress, albeit slowly. Whether I will be able to swin a sprint next year, I'm still not confident. Nevertheless, must persevere.Hope everyone had a good dayGGG If you really want that swim to come along you have to pay attention to every little detail which is frustrating. When you do drills take some time and really think through the purpose of the drill and make sure you do them as perfectly as possible. The swim is one area that you can't jsut muscle through. If the technique isn't there you will keep spinning your wheels. It's what makes it by far the most annoying thing to train for me. I'm just a big engine and always have been. Tell me to run and I'll run, tell me to bike up a hill and I'll get it done, tell me to pay attention to exactly how my elbow looks as start my stroke and it's far to much thinking. But the best way to improve is to think about those things and then think about them some more. When I started tri's it took me a while to even be able to swim across a 25m pool. You can do it! Just keep the focus a break through will happen. |

Bike drainer torture yet to come. I still have a bit to finish off my bike goal for the year anyway. I don't know about tripping, but there are definate mile markers where your body needs to addapt to a longer distance. Mile 10 often sucks, 15 meh, 18 more, 20 definately, 23 completely. Often it is just a bleading of your pace. You have been running 8:30 for 10 miles or 15 or whatever and then at a certain point it is 8:40, 8:50, 9:10, 9:30, 9:50, 10:30.... ah yes the finish phew. My first 10 mile run was terrible. Even though I had ran multiple 8 and 9 mile runs. It's like a barrier to break through. I have a few 15 milers under my belt and haven't felt bad...we'll see what happens at 18 or 20. Think in km! 16 km is a much less of a mental barrier then 10 miles. Also everything just sounds more hardcore in metric |

I am tired and could eat a horse! As soon as I am done with that I'm in for a cold water bath. My new friend. Yea! What a great day! Nice work! Nothing like a half marathon training run for breakfast! |

Another lovely sunny day here ... and I get it off as a holiday. Not too many do. The sad part is I may still be called to do work at home. boo. Anyway, it's been so busy that I am behind on a couple of workouts. I plan to get in a bike, run and swim today. It's kind of cramming and I know i shouldn't but i'll take all them easy and not push. And really it's only one more workout than normal! Enjoy the workouts! I've got today and the rest of the week off as well . I was planning on throwing down some big volume but this damn injury threw a wrench in those plans. I may try and get out for a ride though if the rain ever stops. |

Master 1641 Seattle, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Well good news. My calf seems to be healing up well. I may start throwing in some short run/walks in over the next few days to see how it feels. If all goes well I think I'll be back up to my normal volume before the end of the month. I'm going to hit the trainer today or if the weather holds up get outside for a ride. We'll see. Stay strong everyone. We are kicking a$$. |

Just strength and core for me today. Busy day at work and such...I am up for National Sales Manager at a company I have been doing sales training work for since the first of the year. Trouble is my wife is their Accounting Manager, so they are trying to figure out how things would work for appearances sake. Not a done deal at all, but it's looking good so far. |

If it rains here I will go out and join you . Maybe run shorter and use it as race practice in case it rains at a race ? I ran a very humid half marathon last year and my glasses kept fogging up so i have since stopped wearing my glasses when i run . Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Alrighty 14 miles done in the rain (35-40F). Was not looking forward to the cold water bath when I got home. Perhaps I will warm up by tomorrow morning brrr. I actually should have just taken the day off. I got totally burnt on this run. I should have paid attention to yesterday's run being too slow for the effort and having no umphta even though it was a short run. Oh well taking tomorrow off to recouperate. But I am at 78 miles, so on a pretty good pace to meet my milage goal for the month. |

My plan for today is a 6 mile run later today with my wife...tried doing it at 5am this morning, but just didn't feel like moving so we talked and had coffee instead. Some core/strength training later. Golf with a good friend. Accept new job and plan for transition. |

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Good Morning Team! Add 6 miles to my running tally for the month, so I'm almost exactly on target for the goal. Sweet. Nice high z2 /low z3 pace based on talk test rules.... Felt good. Yeasterday, added 12 miles cycling to my bike total with spin class. Tomorrow, should get caught up on my swim goal. All are on target, or ahead of it, but I've got some serious travel coming up the end of the month, and I'm confident it will create a challenge or two getting my training in. Great job everyone!

Different company...sort of. I have been doing sales training and management coaching off and on for them since the beginning of the year. I figured it was leading to a full-time sales training position, but in the last two days, they have presented a position of National Sales Manager. I will have P&L responsibility of the US sales group, supervision of Regional Managers and Customer Service, plus responsible for training programs and directing project planning. Also, recruiting and a few other things. It really is my dream job. Yes, I will get to the run and strength training to help the team! I need to make up some strength sessions due to laziness.

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Hi Team. How's everyone doing? This morning I was very good and hit the gym for my 40 minute run. Didn't feel like dressing up to go out in the dark and cold. I am lucky, my gym is pretty much right across the street so i have very few excuses for not going. I was also a very busy girl yesterday. I did a spin on the trainer (while watching WKRP on DVD - such a great show) and then went for a half hour run. I made a bunch of cookies and then went for a swim later in the evening. I didn't feel like doing the set that was in my plan so i didn't do it. So tonight will be my third swim of the week and I will have kept up pretty well! YAY! |
