Then proceeded to sit on the edge of the pool for 15 minutes before getting in. Of course I felt great an hour later when I was finished, always do. That's what I have to tell myself when I'm lying in bed contemplating being a lazy bum. Think how good you'll feel when you're done. Plus... unlike Kim, my skinny jeans were feeling a wee bit snug yesterday. That's exactly how I feel when contemplating whether or not to swim... Def feel great after. Oh yea and my jeans were a wee bit tight as well! You guys crack me up! I never have that feeling, most likely because I always do my workouts in the afternoon. If I had to get up in the morning to work out, I would rather be fat |

Veteran 240 Angola, IN | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED What I got for Christmas that is Tri-related: Compression calf guards, compression cool sleeves, gortex bike shoe covers (great for riding in the rain), a very nice Pearl biking jacket, transition backpack/bag, and a Keureg coffee maker (how it that tri-specific?) Because there is no way I could get in the pool befor 10:00 am without coffee My birthday is next week and I am getting a new Specialized Transtion (carbon frame) BTW anyone looking I now have a 54cm Specialized Transition Expert for sale. It is a very nice Tri-bike (don't need it with a new bike on the horizon). Now all I have to do is get off my but and back to the pavement / pool. You guys are all making me feel guilty for icefishing this week instead of getting on the trainer.. lol |

Extreme Veteran 1700 Normal, Ill. | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED Foam rollers are round pieces of foam or plastic that you roll out your leg muscles and tendons with. Helps avoid injury. Check them out. I use the Grid by Trigger Point. Love it. Also using the rest of Trigger points rollers too. They are smaller for the calves, Achilles's, etc. Go for the ice fishing. I write fishing for the paper and magazines (with a walleye pro and member of the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, Ted Takasaki. Have for 20 years.) Edited by IceManScott 2010-12-29 7:26 PM |

Seeing 4 on the clock is depressing, but once you are used to it, it gets a bit easier. New user 21 Eastern Iowa | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED Bike was the only thing I got tri related. I actually found my swim stuff that was tucked away in the garage. I actually did 550 yards in the pool tonight. Felt really good when I got out. Also noticed that not a lot of people use the pool. Going to try and make it into the water at least 3-4 times a week to get more comfortable. |

I've since have gotten lazy in logging my food but mostly because I don't want to see the truth...I'd just rather not enter anything..hehe. I'm about to start traveling for about a month so I'm sure my nutrition is going to be horrible. Hope I can get back on track when traveling is over though. Let me know how you like it!? |

Swimming is my weakest point and I know everyones times are different but to be an average begginer, what should I shoot for as far as time?? What do you think is realistic (in avg. time/100 yrds). I guess I'm trying to set a goal for myself for when my race comes up...it's 1500m swim. Oh and how come when I reply to individual posts they just start a new thread instead of attaching to the comment I was replying to??? : / |

Veteran 267 Peoria Heights | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED This is my thoughts on a training plan for next 2-3 months. Let me know if it makes sense. I'm planning on doing a 5K in March. (I don't have the patience to stick to the C25K, it is already boring me) 3 days run 15 minutes gradually increasing to 30 minutes (most likely M,W,F) 1 day a week walk/run for a full hour gradually increasing the run time and decreasing the walk time (Sat or Sun) 2 days a week - foam roller and stretches possibly adding in a little weight training on the arms if they continue to be wimpy. (Husband has a really sophisticated weight machine in the bedroom that I never use) 1 day a week completely off - do nothing Please let me know if you see any major flaws with this. |

I still am because I haven't gotten to ride it yet due to the weather being bad. If your swimming in doors it makes it nice when you have the pool pretty much to yourself. You can take your time & you don't have to worry about someone else wanting to use your lane. We go to the local YMCA, and some nights our local schools have swim meets there. We just make sure we don't go on those nights. |

I'm certainly no expert, but that foam roller could be used every day. Sounds like you have a very reasonable program. The experts on here will give good advice. About.com has some beginner running programs as does runnersworld.com. I tend to read WAY TOO MUCH... so I've kindled some things and joined some sites and kind of done a hybrid program based on how I feel. I don't run more than two days in a row. I still run/walk... most I can run so far is 4 minutes. I can do 20 on the treadmill. (data point). Continued good luck and good running! |
