Finally got the results for my Turkey Trot Saturday. Here's my race report: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... on track to make my goal, but honestly, I don't see it happening. I will try my best. I'm really wishing that I'd not been so aggressive with my goal, but I need to be pushed, right?

van_paulus - 2011-11-23 3:12 PM HAHAHA!! Consistency is the key Cold weather helps getting my long runs in too. Find a training buddy that has this much fun and you wont be BAGGING workouts !

My puppy's a beagle and basset hound mix... I'm hoping to make him my running buddy when he gets older.  Right now he loves to run when we try to walk him so I'm hoping he'll do good with running/jogging when he gets older.

Emmanem - 2011-11-22 10:11 PM Well I have been struggling this month... Barely worked out at all... Sorry team!!  Having trouble finding my motivation still.  However, my fiance has challenged me and we're extremely competitive so I'm thinking this may be the motivation I need.  I mean beyond bragging rights, there's even prizes... ok so it's only a $20 gift of the winner's choosing but still motivation haha.  The goal is 7 lbs... he wants to gain it (muscle weight) and I want to lose it.  Who ever comes closest wins... should be fun.  But with that being said, I will be running more from now on.

Sounds like an awesome  challenge!  I think you should make smack talk a priority ha ha.

My hubby isn't very active any more though was in his day.  We were chatting in the car and he said he could beat me hands down in a running race.  I agreed that a shorter distance he could (he used to sprint) but he hasn't run in years and so if it were say a mile - no chance.  My daughter got in on it and challenged us both to a show down.  It was supposed to happen on our cruise but hubby was feeling motion sickness - it hasn't been discussed since

Haha he's already talking about how this is going to be the easiest challenge ever for him and that maybe I should get a head start... we'll see how cocky he is at the end of the 4 weeks

Yes you have to go aggressive and push yourself!!  Better to shoot big and come up short than aim low and and hit it.

Nah. Mountain/Central has it. And there's still a little bit of time left in the month still.

Congrats to Pacific. You three posted great numbers!

Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.

Morning all!

I'm so close to my goal but only 3 days left so I may *just* miss it if I act responsibly.  We'll see how I'm feeling.  I guess I should have factored vacations in my initial plans!!

Congrats to everyone for a strong effort!  Van_Paulus can take a nice little vacation for the rest of the month!

Congratulations! I'm thinking now I may be able to do it. Mondays are horrible for me, and I don't know when I'm going to be able to get any running in. Maybe early in the morning before the day starts. But I have only 6.5 I need to do over the next three days, so I think I'm going to make it.

Awe Thanks i will indeed lighten up the running schedule this week. Need to balance out my running with more cross training to keep clear of overuse injuries that plague some folks in my running club. I could barely walk yesterday after the hill repeats .Some muscles around my knee cramping up every time i sat down and stood up again . I felt the same fatigue at the beginning of the month and resting a few days made it go away. Today Instead of the 12 miler run that was planned I Rode an hour on the bike .

I was not able to get in as much running over the long weekend as I would have liked but still only have 7 miles left to reach my goal.  I have a 9 miler planned tomorrow morning so should be good.  I would not mind getting to 160 for the month and make it a round 300 for October-November.

Keep it up everyone - we are almost there!!!

Any ideas for a December challenge?  Maybe we could do the "pick up to 4" challenge that Dee has done in the past.  That would probably get us through the end of the year.  Ideas????

Thanks Roni!!!!

Another couple of miles this evening on the treadmill.  Now I am officially at 100% without the bonus miles from racing twice this month!  That makes me happy.

No sandbagging here!!!!!

Next month? The 50 miler, now a 51.2 miler because they had to re-route due to trail maintenance, is on the 3rd. After that I think I'll start swimming and biking again, lol. I like Tracy's idea of a 4 discipline challenge.

I just learned that one of our very active running club members had a massive heart attack and passed away.  He was going to do his umpteenth marathon this weekend.  I'm so sad for his family.

Give thanks for what you have because it could be gone in a moment.
