Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I'm over this weather already. Gray and nasty doesn't make it any easier to get through the peak of training, ugh!! Yesterday it freaking SNOWED. I was actually kind of stoked, as I love running in snow, but next time I turned around it had turned into a downpour so I skipped the run and did a trainer ride instead. This weekend I'm planning on an 18 mile run and as much time on the trainer as I can stand. It may not be much! Relying on Arrested Development and Saved by the Bell on Netflix to get me through it. Got a calf muscle knot that won't go away, too. Any suggestions besides the stick, foam roller, etc.? Been doing ice and heat as I have time since I can't decide which one's better. This may put a damper on my 18-miler but I'm not going to sweat it if it does. 25 days!!!!! |

Managed a decent Brick today and hoping to get in some 2+ hour rides the next two days. Weather is cooler here than usual, which makes training nice, but not as race specific. |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Last night I dreamed that I forgot to go to the expo and didn't have my bib, so the morning of the IM, they wouldn't let me race. I was DEVASTATED. Isn't it a little early for the pre-race freakout nightmares to be starting???? Happy November, everyone!! |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Ironman anxiety nightmare #2: last night I dreamed that I got lost on the run course. And I wasted too much time having a session with a client during the race, and stopping to eat at Subway. It was 11pm and I was only 9 miles into the run. And it was broad daylight, and my coworker was running with me, and everyone else was lost, too. Yes, I know that the run course is an out and back and I won't really get lost. |

Veteran 220 Plant City, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I just completed IMFL - hurt my sholder in a low speed bike crash at an aid station - finshed the race no problem - but I think I either pulled, broke or have something torn in there. I have three weeks to get past this. |

Member 61 Key West | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread This stuff is nuts! You will mend and go right back in? Awesome. For me, I finished the last long week which is good. BUT I had a dream RunK8Run was the star of a Subway commercial as the new tri athlete and I showed up in my underwear at the starting line. Seriously, hope you are all tapering. Finished 100 today which sucked, but enjoyed several pints at the pub to kick off the taper...yeah! |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread YES, tapering!! I'm going to celebrate with a nice yoga class (I usually love yoga and haven't been able to fit it in with all the s/b/r) and Indian buffet for lunch to try to kick myself out of "always hungry" mode. Late start to the workday today. Woohoo!! |

40 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread We're definitely getting close now. This is the last big week for me. I will have another 20 mile run next Sunday and then I will be backing off just in time to get ready for Thanksgiving with the family. We will then frantically travel to Cozumel on Friday morning before the race. I have a feeling that these next few weeks will be a blur. I hope I'm ready! Good luck to everyone as we wind it down and get ready for raceday, |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I just realized how crazy the next couple of weeks will be for me, too! So much to do before Coz!! We may be having thanksgiving with my family the weekend before; not sure yet, and they probably won't let me know until the last minute. And of course I have to pack and make sure I get my pre-race pedicure.... Skipped the workout this morning because a migraine was fighting with me and winning. Ugh. The meds I take for them make me a space cadet, too. Hoping to survive work and come back to earth enough to do masters tonight. At least my employer somewhat randomly gives us veterans day off; that will be a good catch-up day. Not looking like a good workout day, though - thunderstorms! 19 days!!! Into the teens now!!! Those in the US, go vote today! |

I'm going to bring it with me in the airplane, but so far the support hasn't been very informative. There are usually a couple of bike shops set up near the expo that can help. Are you staying in town? Also, since there are so many people who are in the same situation, you may be able to get someone to help a bit. |

Veteran 334 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread The web site says that there are bike mechanics at the host hotels if your staying at one. This is the reason why I took a bike course a few years back, also our local bike store is helping us to dismantel and put in the box so we can see how it`s done correctly. Can`t hurt to go down and ask yours to show you. Cheers

Expert 668 Lancaster, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Race thoughts and jitters are starting to creep up. I am really looking forward to the WARM weather. I hate running/biking in this weather.I ran 14 miles last Saturday and avg a little over 8 mins a mile but what bothered me was that mile 12 the group (16 other peeps) paced such mile at about 7:00mins/mile. The 11 mile I was gasping and trying to lower my HR- by the start of las mile and half, my left knee started locking up... I've never had that kind of pain. It was the knee I had the operation. You can imagine all the possible scenarios running through my mind. All from having PR's in the first two events and walking the marathon- to just Swimming and enjoying the island while others race and I cheered. I listened to the old body, backed off running and just biked a few times, and today I ran again..... All good- no pain. we'll see how it holds up this Sunday for my long run, I have my fingers crossed. Looking forward to seeing coconut trees, margaritas, señoritas- ha! and the BT crew.Thomas |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Hey All, So, I managed to get in some running this week while traveling, and am hoping that there will be a gym near my hotel next week so I can get a little biking and running in too. If nothing else, my muscles will be rested! Has there been any discussion about a meetup? We are staying downtown near the finish, where are you all staying? |

Thanks! I've talked to a hotel and they can receive the bike (unfortunately, it's too difficult for me to carry it with me on the airplane), so I booked one day there to have it prepared. |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I'll be at the Sabor too!! My training sucked this past week! I get maybe one bad migraine a year, if that - one that's bad enough that prescription drugs won't touch it and I just have to let it run its course. It happened this past week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning it was a low-grade wannabe migraine, but bad enough that I really couldn't do much besides muddling through work and collapsing on the couch at home. Wednesday evening it attacked in full force and the toilet and I were bff's until 1 AM. I managed to get a short run in Wednesday morning (I thought it was getting better) and an easy trainer ride Thursday morning, after I slept in, while my brain was in a huge fog. Thursday night was masters, which was the hardest swim workout I've had in a long time! The coach tried me out in a faster lane and I kept up - barely!! Friday is my usual rest day because it's my busiest work day, but I managed to squeeze in a 45 minute run. Ah well. I will be well-rested as well. From experience, I think I do better on more rest time than other people seem to. My PR's have all come after a recent injury when I'd barely run the week or two before the race. I did get in an awesome, strong run yesterday, and I'm going to bike with friends today. HIGH OF 70 TODAY!!!! I'm so stoked to get my bike off the trainer!!!!!! |

I was on track until mile 9 then I felt every mile of last weeks IMFL. Now I get 13 days before I toe the line at Cozumel. I think i'm going to go major taper for the next few days. |

4 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I've got my right knee injured less than a month ago, because of the "barrel" shape of my legs. I believe I'm losing around a couple of hours on the projected race time, as a consequence of this. If anybody is not happy, cheer up, because it could go worse :-D |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I would like to request a tailwind that follows me around and around until I'm done. KTHX. We had 15 mph wind today, so it was good practice. It kept changing direction, too. Did some hills, too, at least Coz won't have those!! I was also happy to have some friends with me, including some who have done IMs before, to help me calm down (a little). I kind of want to throw up every time I think about the upcoming race..... |
