This is a big weekend in the Speelman house. My son turns 12 on Sunday. We are having a small gathering at lunch for him. Next Saturday my sister and her family are coming up. My BIL and nephew + my husband and son, and daughter + 2 friends of my son + a family that we are friends with are all going to play laser tag. I am going to hang out with my sister and niece, and hopefully try the climbing wall they have at the sports emporium. So it will be 4 adults and 7 kids playing. Then we are going back to my house for pizza and cake, and the kids can play in the basement. My sister makes the most fantastic cakes! She has taken several classes, she's artsy anyway. She's had people ask her to make cakes for their special occasions, but she's not sure she wants to make it a business. She doesn't mind giving them away, but she thinks if people are paying her they will have to be perfect. I'd pay money for the quality of cakes she makes.

Anyway... it will be a fun day. And there will be cake.

That sounds like a fantastic day. Pictures must be posted.. of the tag, the climbing and the CAKE!

You little boy is double digits. Wow, time flies for sure.

Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!”

“So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains.”

“You'll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You'll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.”

“Oh the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all.”

Hi all. Sorry I've been MiA. Busy. On call today. Wooo (not). Losing a bit of weight (which isn't a bad thing) since I've started to pick up workouts and it is hard to eat a whole lot on surgery. Grabbing a few bites here and there between cases is the best I can do to get something in! Hope all is well in ghoulieland!

ironannekidd - 2012-03-02 7:08 AM Good FFFFriday my dear Ghoulies!

Back at you, Ann. What's up today?

Well March is off to a less than stellar start, but I will make the most of the rest of the month. After having the flu on Monday/Tuesday, I have been unable to eat this week. I have had 0 appetite. I even made dinner for myself last night, I took a few bites and I couldn't finish it. The lack of nutrition has also produced a lack of movement on my part. I am going to try to eat a little more today, and hopefully by tomorrow I can at least be taking some longish walks.

I have also been wide awake every day this week at 4:00, or before, thank you creepy spider dreams. I am hoping to keep that up so I can workout before work, my evenings are just hectic. Once I start getting paychecks again I am going to join the Y here. I am hoping to swim 2-3 days a week before work, the other days I will walk/run at home before work.

That sounds like a really good plan!  Hope you are able to get some food in today.

Hi Dee.

By Ghoulies. I am out of here for the day. I am trying to figure out should I run or should I swim. I am leaning toward running since the pool closes early (3:00) and the earliest I can get there is 2:00. Lots of high schoolers in there at that time. I am spoiled by going mid morning and having the lanes mostly to myself.

Happy Dr. Seuss Birthday Ghoulies.

I got an email two days ago about a meeting at HQ today that I needed to attend.  I was PO'd at getting that email as today is my day off.  So I left work a little early yesterday to make up for some meeting time today.  Got to HQ for the meeting and it turned out that the "Fall Into The Arts" Team that I co-chaired last year WON the Team Award for the library this year.  How cool is that?  Anyway, I decided to stop grumbling about having to go to a meeting on my day off.

Oh, and the other part of my day today has been spent working on taxes.  I think I might get a nice credit for the HVAC units that we had to put in back in December.  Now to just find that paperwork.

Good morning Ghoulies!

Remember the family I told you was going to play laser tag with us? Well the dad coaches my son's basketball team, and his 2 boys are on the team, the mom, my friend, and I sit on the side of the gym and heckle the coaches (my husband is the assistant coach). Well last night there were only 8 players, and they were going to scrimmage. My friend jumped up and said "WE'LL PLAY!" So we did. I played basketball for 30 minutes wearing jeans and a pair of Merrell zero drop trail shoes. Defininitely didn't heal strike. It was fun though. Next week is the last week, the coach told us to come dressed to play. WOOT!

These are the shoes I was wearing.

Good morning Ghoulies.  Another weekend at work.  Hubby turned in his resignation yesterday, and his boss called him and asked what it would take to get him to stay.  HA HA!  A bit late for that.  then he told hubby that he wanted him to help interview candidates.  How quickly does he think he is going to find them, I don't know.  Hubby starts new job in two weeks.

Oh, and this is the boss who has been firing people left and right for the last four months.  Then hiring people that he knew from another company that he used to work for.  Gives you a good idea as to why hubby wants to leave.

Howdy all

I was supposed to do a bike, run brick today. I caulked a bedroom instead. We have wall-to-wall beadboard in the house and it has to be scraped (done in that room) then caulked before being painted. It is like paint archeology here. There are about 9 different colors (I am not exaggerating) and all of them butt-ugly! Anyway, my shoulder is barking. I took a hot shower and now I am going to put gel Ibuprofen on it.

Have wonderful Saturday's all.
