lisac957 - 2012-07-27 10:36 AM TJ no one solved our burping problem. Do I need to go to TT with this?!

Try an early morning run before you eat anything and see if it happens.  I cannot eat anything "real" before I workout or it tends to upset my stomach.

What about having the same issue on the rower?  It's getting bad.  I think it may be because my stomach is not so flat and I do tend to bang the handle against my abs (just below my bewbs) with every pull.

Sounds like you are gulping air because your abs are compressed for part of the stroke, you may be anticipating the compression and trying to get in a bunch of air before you get to bodies over..  First your abs should not be that compressed when you get to the catch , you back should be flat.  Make sure you are not rounding your shoulders either when you finish bodies over or lunging to it when you get to the catch.  I always have to remind myself to keep my chin up so I don't round my shoulders and collapse my core.  Also watch your breathing during the recovery, at a stroke rate of around 22/23 you should be able to take 2 decent breathes on the recovery.  Try counting 1 - inhale. 2 -exhale, 3 -inhale, drive -exhale.

You are right ... when I get tired, like 20 minutes into the workout this happens.  I am hyper aware of it now because it was pointed out TWICE this week.   I never thought to breathe that way and will try it tonight.  I could use more air!  HA!  I do tend to gulp a breath on recovery before bodies over (learning the lingo) because I do feel it compresses my fat gut and I can't get a good breath in.  I will try to get in two breaths and report back on Monday! Thanks!

Trust me it's even worse when you see yourself do it in the video of a race... Ugh!!!!

Also remember bodies over is only a swing from about 10 or 11'clock (depending on your layback) to 1 o'clock.  You are not getting any extra real power by trying to go way over and you are compromising your breathing  and your leg drive that way.

You are welcome, good luck!

better!

Get any gaming in? I had a 3 hour session with my kids yesterday. We ended it off by smacking each other around. Aggressively.

Talking about yourself in 3rd person again?

I got a Vietnamese pork meat ball sandwich for breakfast. It was so damn good.

Viet subs are the bomb diggity.

Good thing Vietnam didn't have subs during World War II.

We must have the same silly brain thing going on - I was running through versions of the same joke going on in my head.

No, dang it.  A few hours of poker on the Ipad while watching tv.  Training and golf and TdF was getting in the way.  Maybe tonight.  I have it off and the better looking half is working all night in the MG show and go go dancing.

Mornings and I are not on speaking terms but if that's what it takes I might have to sacrifice.
Breathing-wise... Hmmm. I always carry a water bottle and drink whilst running - maybe with the excessive heat I am gulping too much?

Someone else mentioned Zantac helps.. I would really like to avoid drugs

I will tell you though, my homemade pesto burps last night were awesomely nasty.

i cannot drink while running, i always end up gulping air and getting those nasty burps.

i have to come close to a complete stop so i can sip...don't seem to have an issue with bike bottles because there is no way to gulp air.

I sort of learned how to squirt the bottle between my cheek and gums (like a delicious bit if dip) and that somehow keeps air from being swallowed.  But I'm like you, almost come to a walk to drink.

I wish I knew more to be able to contribute more.  So I may be speaking out of turn.

I can drink while running but it is much harder to take shots while running. Not impossible just harder.

I the Las Vegas R&R mary, (the only one I did, Tony did it too), a bar brought out plastic cups with beer in them between aid stations 5 and 6 or so (just before the u turn on LV blvd.  I ALMOST took one just to say I did.  I love this town sometimes!

NRG42 - 2012-07-27 7:10 AM Good morning TAN, I am obsessed with visors and excited cause I just got my USA volleyball RL one that I paid 40 bucks for.

Weird.  I'm getting back into visors again as well.  Mostly because of getting back into golf.  I have a couple cool ones from Silveman that I swore I would never wear and was disapointed I got them with my schwag.  But now I likes them.

As long as you wear them to the side and have big sunglasses.

Where you around when the hip thing was to wear them upside down?  God, I can't believe I did that for a while.

I think the hip brand back then was I DIG.  And of course, the Killer Loop sunglasses (more like face shields) - I was HUGE into beach volleyball and even had aspirations of going pro...  Silly boy that I was.

Teejaay - 2012-07-27 8:53 AM I have a blog and it has THREE unique visitors (one may be a cat).  Would like to get that up to SIX by August 1st.  Ha! Maybe once I start writing in it people will flock to follow my adventures and such .. once I actually have some adventures.

I thought about doing a blog...  But I can barely keep up with Facebook...  But facebook is also kind of limited.

FB is not meant for the blogging.  Plus your audience is limited to .. your friends.  That's no fun!

FB is only meant for showing pics of how awesome your life is and pop culture quotes.

My friend posted this today, I laughed. Possibly out loud.

Ahhhh it's that time of year where watching men in speedos is masculine, staring at 15 year old girls isn't creepy, slight racism against other countries can be called patriotism, and wanting LeBron James to win is acceptable. Once every four years folks!
