I think they can't hear you because all the noise from the chainsaws. My son's school was called due to no electricity his speech therapist cancelled because she is stuck in a Chicago airport. That's not the worst, I have missed the last two runs due to wheather. I'm at work now with 30 mph winds and its raining lightly. I need to run a 6,3, and 12 miler in the next 2 and a half days to keep up with my training plan. If the rain lets up I'm going to try a 6 after midnight.

Where are all my peeps at? Please don't tell me you are all stuck under all this snow we are getting in Michigan Frown

Also struggling with the weather here. Instead of taking time off, I've upped by trainer frequency (3 rides in the last four days).

Never done the test, or any test for that matter. Am planning to do a 1000M swim TT as well as figure out my run HR zones. I don't have a power meter so i'm not sure if i'll do anything for the bike.

I'm fortunate to have good weather here.  I just finished a 4 miler at a balmy 39 degrees.  It was great.  So I've gone 10/65 miles so far this month - I forgot it's only 28 days so I have a ways to go!

Mike (ellismichael), I think it's funny that your challenge it to not drink soda and water is your last choice.  Call me crazy, but water is my favorite drink!  Next is probably beer and wine.  Water is the cleanest tasting, freshest drink I can imagine.  Juice and soda satisfy only very specific and rare cravings.  Funny how people's tastes can be so different!  Hope you're having success holding off the soda - good luck!

Lisa I was puzzled by mike's comments about water. When I worked in maintenance I had the pleasure of installing one of the first bottling plants for a municipal water utility. Its taboo here at work if you are caught drinking store bought bottled water. Depending on your water rates, here you can fill up a 16oz. water bottle about 7500 times for the price of one store bought water bottle. Check it out www.louisvillepuretap.com

Come on Mike drink some water LOL

Here's a question I thought of while doing my run this evening. What really makes a hard day hard, and what really makes an easy day easy?

-Is it how quickly/easily we can recover from the workout?
-Is it the pace, RPE, etc?
-Is it a combination of all of this?

I"m just curious what others think as I continually ready about scheduling your three key workouts and making sure you are able to hit those with full strength. Still, I want to make sure my other workouts have enough volume and adequate intensity. Your thoughts?

I factor both into a hard day. Recovery time is probably the most important aspect. I try to never put hard sessions on back to back days in the same sport. I can however get away with most of the time doing a hard run and then a hard bike back to back and swimming anytime because it is less stress.

Just like to let the group know, I am still alive. I have been very busy at work and just as busy keeping my training up...doens't leave much time to play on the internet.

I'd also add to the discussion, for me it's a combination of RPE and recovery time. I would second what Sherm posted.

Another beautiful day in my world. 4 degrees with a sub 20 windchill. Highways are shut down due to 40 mph winds and complete white-outs. Thankfully just a trainer session for me today.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Good stuff. We were between -4 and 0.

Signed up for a 60 min indoor tri next Sunday. As long as we don't get a blizzard i'm planning on giving it a go at a steady pace. Have a good week!

Good luck on the tri Nole, let us know how it goes. I have looked at a couple of those maybe to just get a guage on my fitness but didn't pull the trigger.

Happy Monday gang. I think we need another round of pick me ups (at least I am always looking for some) so what is everyones goals for this week.

For me

3 Swims

5 Runs

3 Bikes

That is at least what my coach wants. I might end up adding a bike in there and probably a couple of strength sessions. Plus I want to see sub 200 on the scale by weeks end. I need to get serious about this weight loss thingy.

3 bikes 3 runs 2 swims.

Indoor tri on Sunday. It's a 10 min swim, 30 min bike, 20 min run. I hope I treat it like the pre-season race that it is...

Good luck all!

Nole - That's exciting about the upcoming tri. Getting an early start on the season!

About the water, I just don't really like to drink water. You're all right, though, I should drink more just plain water. Maybe I'm too spoiled by all the diet soda I've been drinking over the last few years. At least with Propel I can buy the packets and just keep refilling a small bike bottle.

It's been going OK and I haven't had any soda. When I go out to eat, I usually have just water. So maybe I'll get more and more used to it as time goes on.

It's been sunny and warm here in Sactown the last couple weeks, mid-60's to the low 70's. Perfect. It's been a bit windy the last couple days, but I got some great road rides in the last couple weekends. Looking forward to another long ride this weekend.

I'll do my first swim in over a week tomorrow. My shoulder is still a little sore, but is better than it was. Hopefully I can take it easy with swimming and it will continue to get better and still let me get some swimming in.

I'm still here

Just trying to get over this cold before March 2nd. Just haven't had the energy to do much more than just run. My swim coaches are going to really be pissed at me for missing the past two weeks, but I just can't get out of bed at 5:15 these days...

I'll get some biking and running in this weekend (can't miss the great weather) and start up with swimming next week. Tapering is great

Been struggling myself all week for energy. My whole family has been sick or getting over it for about 2 weeks now. The little man has had two ear infections which equals some long nights.

I need one swim and a bike/run tomorrow and I will end up hitting all my targets this week.

How is everyone else coming along?

I had a great week, my oldest was alittle sick for a couple of days, everybody has been pretty well this winter. Has anybody had the flu yet, they say our state is at its highest category for flu but, I honestly haven't seen anybody or heard about it at my kids school. Kind of strange, of course I'll come down with it this week!

Funny, I have heard the same about Michigan. There is a private high school about a mile from me that had to close for a day last week because 50% of the teachers were sick and 30% of the students were ill.

I have really been missing my workouts due to a wide variety of stresses. There are a lot of people sick here and the peak is suppose to be a couple of weeks away. My youngest got sick Saturday and is down for the count. I guess that means it's coming. I need everyone to keep posting because its helping me keep motivated to get back to it.

i had kind of a bad week - lost my mojo and didn't feel like working out in the middle of the week, so i missed most of my goals - however, the big one, the important one of the long run today, i nailed.  i had the best run i've had in a year today.  a 9+ miler at sub-11, so i'm pretty excited!  though i'm beat now...

hope everyone has a good next week!

Thanks for promoting my race report Tim :-)

It's true, I did my first multi sport race this weekend, a 750M then 5Km run. It was a really small and ultra competitive group, which was quite intimidating at first. But I had a good time!

You can read all about it in the report!
