I got my book in the mail yesterday!!  I haven't started to read it yet, but have flipped through a little ~ looks awesome so far!  How fun to have my interview and results posted, too!  Thanks Sam!!

I will get to reading and report back when I'm done

Thanks. I will say, I am embarrassed about the number of errors there still are in the book. The most obvious are the paragraph breaks. When I moved the text from my blog to the copy, it got all messed up. That was a pain, and it is painfully obvious to me where the mistakes are. I hope you enjoy the book nevertheless.

hi everybody! congrats to all the 2011 IMKY folks - i enjoyed following your journey! louisville is on the radar for me in 2012, and i'm in the process of figuring out training plans and that sort of thing. did most of you do an HIM last year as part of your training? i've heard muncie mentioned a few times as a good one, and in the appropriate window of time out from the IM. just wanted to know if you had any input on which ones you thought were a good choice and when is a good time to do them to provide you with both adequate preparation and recovery time. also, is there a new 2012 thread or do we just pick up where you guys left off?

thanks for your help,

lisa

Cool tattoo

HEY, does anyone know why they are not airing an Ironman Louisville episode on TV? I've watched Ironman Louisvilled the last three, maybe four years, on Universal Sports. But this year they skipped it! Anyone know why? They are airing Ironman Wisconsin on 10/14.

My understanding is the competitors at IMLOU 2011 were so darn fit and attractive, they were afraid if it aired, it might draw too much attention away from Kona...but I could be wrong.

To add my two cents, I've heard that Universal Sports channel is in danger of being canned.  Apparently, it's not generating the income ... so sad.

Fesslern,

IM TX is on my short list.  Probably the race I would do if I decide against going back to Louisville.

For all who are interested, I finally manned up and got the tat. I had to wait until after my last tri since I was still swimming, but here it is. Feel free to copy if you like it, I designed it myselfLaughing.

Quick update: I did great in my last tri (Powerman Muncie OLY), though it was a terrible experience. Note to all: when the wind chill is 38 degrees at race start with 20+mph sustained wind and the race is changed to wetsuit mandatory the day before, you may want to reconsider your participation... 2nd overall is my best finish ever, but most people quit before or during the race due to the misery factor. Next up is the Monumental Marathon in Indianapolis on Nov. 5. My training has been going great (7:21/mile on my 20 miler this weekend!) and I may shoot for the 3:05 Boston cut, but haven't decided if it is realistic yet... My future includes Muncie 70.3 next year, may think about Eagleman 70.3 if I can sign up, but the 'A' race right now is probably AG nationals. I am determined to stay OLY focused and not get sucked into another IM...My new tat, I love it!

Fantastic tat!!!

Interesting, my only DNF in an event that was not planned, was at PowerMan Ohio. It was freezing and I dropped out in T2. I had to have a volunteer unbuckle my helmet and it took me two hands to turn the key to get in my van, and then another 5 minutes to start it because my hands were basically useless. So...I feel your pain.

I am going to start a triathlon podcast and I expect to have my first episode up within the month.

Great ink, Jeremy, and very clever design!  Congrats on your finish, too.  You should definitely do Boston.  If I could qualify, I sure would.  Just ran the Grand Rapids Marathon up here, and I actually paced myself perfectly and ran negative splits--which is very, very rare for me--but, er ... my time was decidedly slower than your 7:21 pace, holy schmoly!

Nice one, Jeremy.  I attempted to mimick your design, but my tattoo artist refused to give me the tat.  He said that to fit everything on my bicep would mean he would have to shrink down the design which would essentially make the design too small.  Apparently the design would fill in.

I love it that you guys are still posting on this thread.  I went to a dinner party Friday night and got to share my experience with a group of friends I hadn't seen in a while.  I had a lot of fun reminiscing.

Hey...speaking of diving into things. I've launched a podcast. Tri Briefs. It should be on iTunes now if you want to check it out. I would love to hear what you think. Peace!

The first episode is 23-ish minutes longe.

Cool tats, Noah, Cube & TulkasSam - great idea on the podcast.  There are some good ones out there and I enjoy having something to geek out to - especially during the "off" season (hah).

Speaking of podcasts...following Kona, I heard the IM Talk interview with WTC CEO Messick and the announcement of the 12-IM-punch-card-to-Kona.  So, I signed up for St. George.

NYC Marathon next weekend.

I'll be at IMAZ, too, but just volunteering in T2 :)
