Tomorrow is Friday!! Just wanting to wish every a GREAT weekend!

Hoping to go to an arts festival along the waterway, get a 5K race in this weekend, and maybe a ride with my DH (if we can manage it with my son's baseball game the same day).  The 5k is a trail run and we've had a lot of rain this week, so just waiting to sign up once I check the weather tomorrow.  Kind of an odd race, as it starts at 4pm.  Last year it was in the morning and they had crawfish nachos, which really didn't sound so good at 9am.  I'm thinking that's the reason for the late start.  I'm really disappointed that I waited to long to sign up for the tri I wanted to do the first weekend in May, as now it's sold out.  I may get on the waitlist or sign up for the Mother's Day tri (mini-sprint) I did last year (which was my first).  Last year a front blew through at about 3am and the water was REALLY rough.  Might be fun to do it a again for comparison.

Keep up the good work, everyone!

And I'd hate to disband since I'm just getting to know everyone, and you are all such a supportive group!

Offthegrid - 2009-04-02 9:03 PM OK, everyone, I need some opinions. I'm on STBX's cell phone plan. I get him a 17% discount, but regardless, he's going to cancel my $10 line. (while I pay the mortgage, taxes, utilities, health insurance, car loan & insurance, etc. etc. etc.) I'm reluctant to try to go without a cell phone, because there's no house phone here. I *might* consider Skype or something like that, though. I really want an iPhone, but I don't want to get one now because of the monthly cost. I'm reluctant to GET a regular cell phone plan, because I want that iPhone and I'd be under contract and would have to wait 2 years to get one. And I think if I get a pay-as-you-go phone, it'd add up to be a high monthly cost similar to the iPhone. I've been thinking on it for a week, and I'm still not sure what I want to do. Thoughts?

Dh and I are cheap ! lol  So we use cheap phones we got from ebay and then we pay as we go on verizon (like the cards at walmart only we do it automatic).  We pay around 20$ per month and if we get too low, it will automaticlly add like $5.00.

We had one phone that was given to us by a guy who could not get service (it's an older verizon flip phone, and dh got two more one for his mom and one for me for CHEAP on ebay). we also have car chargers as well.

we have no plan, and dh loves it that way (of course we can't get cute ring tones, or fancy stuff.......but they call who I want when I want)

how do you do the pay-as-you-go? At a Verizon store? Which plan do you have? There are some that are 0/day charge, but then 25 cents a minute. Others are $4/day, but then unlimited. I don't make a lot of calls, but I could see that adding up pretty quick...

(the initial cost of the phone doesn't worry me, but the ongoing monthly expense.)

BTW, because I'm a posting fool tonight, my PF pain is almost completely gone. I have to wonder if it's because of the weight loss, too. But I think I am going to try new shoes these may be have too much give in the heel.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!! Does any of us have a race????? My hopes are to do a long run/walk or bike tomorrow after my first responders seminar at church, it shows you how to help others after a traggic event, it runs from 9-2 tomorrow.

My plans today are to work for a few hours, clean house, and then do some sort of walk with the dog. I just signed up for a swim clinic that my first YMCA Tri coach is offering in May, that will at least get me going back to the pool...I haven't been since November because I hate seeing myself in my suit since I put on 15 lbs...I know its stupid, but it always bums me out...I'm working on that one.

Have a great weekend!!!!

I enjoy getting to know you all, I picked "GPOL" 'cause the name sounded cool............. unreal that my Amy M is 1 hour from me so close we can play together and I have the best team ever to be a part of !!!  that was the best pick I ever made !!

Good night all !!!

I agree this is the best mentor group I have ever been in...there is no reason to disband until January 1, and then maybe Julee will start another group and we can either join or expand our horizons, or do both.

yup...we did this last year too didnt we Amy...we may have to start a new thread...as we are already up to page 130 something....but agreed...i say we see each other and root each other on to the end!!! I have to see how many of you do in your BIG races!

Definitely don't want this group to end...I would be kicking and screaming! Julie, please let us know when and where!

Originally we both had trak phones from walmart and we bought cards and filled them that way.
Then trak sold to verizon so we ended up with verizon now.   SO I think any of the ph ones verizon sells at walmart (off the rack, not the fancy ones behind the counter) can be activated and then you can tell them online or by phone "I want this much on my acct.......... then anytime it gets below 5.oo or whatever you choose, then you can tell them to automaticlly add 5.oo more or the amt. you choose.

You can buy cheapo phones online, (I guess maybe they have to be verizon to use verizon)..... then call verizon and set it up with them as well.

We do not make a ton of calls either, no texting, no camera phone etc.  Just nice to have when I need it to TALK to someone  !lol

Morning everyone.  I'm up early, ready to run, and it's raining outside again.  And not just a little bit of rain.  I was prepared to run in the drizzle, but not this downpour.  My few days at home haven't really turned out like I planned.  Oh well, I'm heading to Atlanta for a few days (and driving through this storm!), and will hopefully get a few runs in up there!

Even though it is only Thursday, I wish everyone a good weekend!

This week hasn't been the greatest here, weatherwise, either! I wanted to go riding tomorrow, but they are calling for thunderstorms.

ok you are killin me with all the avatars changing ! I can't figure out who the hell you are for a second ! lol........... I think folks that change it alot are called "Serial avatar changers"

lol

sorry - my team lost the challenge! I tried to find "sexy brunette marshmallow" but that didn't come up. Ha ha ha.

What's the marshmallow roasting over the fire?

I'm on the "Power Puff Girls" team for this month's Super Hero challenge so I decided to add a Power Puff Girl to my avatar. Keeping the bike part helps keep me recognizable.

looks good! you do that in photoshop?

I use Photoshop Elements. It's easier to use than the full Photoshop.

MDHillSlug - 2009-04-03 7:29 AM I was back at the pool this morning working on my stroke refinements. So far I don't know what it's getting me: I'm slower and my breathing is out of synch so I'm getting more tired. I guess I need to stick with it for a while before I see any benefits

hang in there Nicole...time will tell.

Hows the bike???? been on it much yet?

I've gotten outside on it once but the roads were a bit wet so I couldn't really let it fly. Tomorrow's looking too windy for this bike. I'm not planning to use this bike for my first tri (too hilly) so I really should be putting my time in on the Allez.
