i didn't realize i had such the reputation for running in foul weather!! LOL

when i ran today it was lightly misting which turned in to lightly snowing, back to misting/raining, i didn't get very wet, which is really what it's all about. after a run, if i look like i just stepped out of the shower with all my clothes on, THAT was a great run. LOL

Sure glad we can keep this group- going-  I enjoy reading and learning from everyones posts- and... heh I just started and looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Was hoping to get out for the first time on the bike- however again crappy weather forced into the cocubines (sp?) of 'da basement" -oh well got it done! My body is still fatigued from last weeks race ( what about yours Yvonne??!!)- anyway- just finished some Cadbury Easter eggs ( yup- 2!)  for a boost... ( should have not even purchased them!!) Anyway- everyone have a good w'end!

Morning everyone.  I'm up early, ready to run, and it's raining outside again.  And not just a little bit of rain.  I was prepared to run in the drizzle, but not this downpour.  My few days at home haven't really turned out like I planned.  Oh well, I'm heading to Atlanta for a few days (and driving through this storm!), and will hopefully get a few runs in up there!

Even though it is only Thursday, I wish everyone a good weekend!

This week hasn't been the greatest here, weatherwise, either! I wanted to go riding tomorrow, but they are calling for thunderstorms.

ok you are killin me with all the avatars changing ! I can't figure out who the hell you are for a second ! lol........... I think folks that change it alot are called "Serial avatar changers"

lol

I heard about a recreational kickball league that's starting next week for adults, and I'm 99% sure I'm going to give it a try. They go out to a bar afterward. It's 6 weeks of games, and then playoffs. So, I'm thinking of joining because:

1) It'd be a good way to meet people about my age who like physical activity.
2) There will probably be a lot of guys.
3) Well, they, um, go out to a bar afterward.

Just kidding about No. 3. So why haven't I hit the trigger yet? Well, for one, my credit card was blocked (it's fixed now). And two, I can't decide what size T-shirt to order.

I mean, I know that sounds so stupid and trivial to everyone else, but I've been an XXL kinda gal my entire life. And now I go into the Express and Limited, and some larges are too big. So this is a little bit of drama. I'm thinking of going with the medium, and if it *is* too tight, then I can see if I can exchange up. But this is a big decision. I actually might go to the mall tomorrow for the sole purpose of trying on T-shirts to making sure the M wouldn't be too tight.

AND, tomorrow I'm going to try to get new running shoes. And *maybe* an actual pair of running shorts, since mine are so large they're bulge out everywhere.

NoSit - 2009-04-02 3:13 PM Sooooo, I guess I have another first coming later this year. My name was drawn in the lottery for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in October! I think I'm excited. Maybe I'll be excited when I get over the terror! Trish

I haev to ask.......what is the lottery all about ?...... and yeah that you were chosen.........!!!

They run it sort of like the Kona lottery (except you don't have to qualify for Nike). They give everyone who wants to a few weeks to register. Then, instead of just taking the first 4000, they pick 4000 (I'm just making that number up, don't know how many actually get to run). I've known people who didn't get drawn, so I guess not everybody gets in. Maybe they want to make sure there are women of all ages or something else like that. I'm thinking not too many people wanted to risk the entry fee this far ahead of time, so maybe there weren't as many as usual in the lottery.

I don't know, but I'll be running lots after Vineman 70.3!

Thanks for the support you all!

I was back at the pool this morning working on my stroke refinements. So far I don't know what it's getting me: I'm slower and my breathing is out of synch so I'm getting more tired. I guess I need to stick with it for a while before I see any benefits

Exactly right, Nicole! You'll figure it out if you stick with it! And your old stroke is still in there if it doesn't get better after a few weeks.

Hey Amy...

Well...I decided to will do the "Run for Life" this Sunday. It's a 5 km run with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. I will be running in memory of my dear friend Deb who passed away in December and my other dear friend Erica who was recently diagnosed with duodenal cancer.

Please you guys, go for your mammograms and check-ups...it's so important.

amy mutz - 2009-04-03 5:12 AM

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!! Does any of us have a race????? My hopes are to do a long run/walk or bike tomorrow after my first responders seminar at church, it shows you how to help others after a traggic event, it runs from 9-2 tomorrow.

My plans today are to work for a few hours, clean house, and then do some sort of walk with the dog. I just signed up for a swim clinic that my first YMCA Tri coach is offering in May, that will at least get me going back to the pool...I haven't been since November because I hate seeing myself in my suit since I put on 15 lbs...I know its stupid, but it always bums me out...I'm working on that one.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Kickball! What a kick! No, really. That would make me feel 10 again! Remember that the shirts are probably men's sizing, Susie. I'd think the med would be fine.

Have fun shopping!

Just a quick note to say I'm back in Japan.  I got in a swim on Thursday and was out for bike rides on Fri & today (Sat).  I probably should have run today, but the wind was relatively mild and forecast for tomorrow is strong winds again.  Since running in the wind is much easier than riding, I will run tomorrow.

Good luck with your race on Saturday Jules & Lisa!!  Same for you on Sunday Yvonne & Karen!!

Happy Saturday everyone!  I've been a slacker with my training so far this month.  But I am going to head out for a run this morning, as soon as the sun comes up.  Then I'm off to class for the rest of the day (stitching class, lots of fun!).  Afterwards we're going bead shopping, dinner, then collapse!  It's back home to Florida tomorrow, where hopefully I'll get home early enough to get a bike ride in.  Monday I leave for Cedar Rapids, so it will be back to the hotel fitness room again.

Good luck to the racers this weekend!

Kickball?! Way too fun! Get yourself signed up (with the M shirt).

Happy shopping! Another little note....while shopping in person is way more fun, once you know your shoes and sizes- there are soooooooo many deals online- especially for you who live state-side. My Asics 2140's cost about $150 CDN but I can usually find them online for $65-75 US. I also ordered a bunch of stuff from triathlonshots.com. It's a good thing that my sister (aka my US mailing address) is very understanding.

And Karen- consider getting a mailbox in Pt. Roberts,WA- we had lots of great stuff shipped in and it's pretty close for you!

Just back from shopping with my 10 year old son - 4 pair of shorts, 3 shirts, a pair of Nikes, and a swimsuit later, I'm back at home.  I pointed out to him that all I got was a bottled water!  So, just laying around for about 45 minutes before I get ready to go to my race. It's 80 degrees and partly sunny right now, so it's going to be warm. Thankfully, most of the run is on a trail through a nature preserve, so should be a little cooler in the trees. There will be a crawfish boil and a Zydeco band afterwards (not that the crawfish sounds too good right now for my stomach). Hopefully it won't be as muddy as it was last year. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

You're going to love your "real" running shorts! And I totally understand the t-shirt issue.  I ordered a large shirt for my race today but saw it, and requested an x-large.  I swear, it must be an x-large kids shirt.  My 10 year old (who weighs 85 lbs) can wear it! I'm 5'9" and fluctuate between 172 and 177.  I don't expect to fit into a medium shirt (don't think I've seen that since I was in elementary school), but I do expect to be able to wear on x-large.  Enough ranting ... The kickball team sounds like a great idea!!
