Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() E, glad to hear that you are ok from your close encounter with a gang today. I've had some similar close encounters down here, but fortunately nothing too bad. Jim, glad to hear that your daughter had a good time in Guatemala and hope that we get to meet you down here sometime soon! Today a 14.5 mile run in the morning and a 30 min drainer workout at night. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Swim and bike today - yipee. 45'in the pool and 1hr ride. Ernesto, good to hear nothing happened to you... I had a similar experience in Chicago while riding on the lakefront trail. Few gangsters ambushed me and one actually took a swing, but missed as I lowered my head right down to the handlebars. Sometimes I wish a had an M-16 mounted on my bike. Andy S 6/B 9/ R 9 Rest 1 Total 24 Time 32:03:27 96% Mark Z S 4/B 5/R 6 Rest 2 Total 15 Time 19:08:00 Edited by markz 2012-08-16 12:59 AM |

I'll be there "racing". Not looking for a stellar performance as the workouts the past two weeks have been less than ideal, but we'll see what happens. Work and family obligations continue to play havoc with any sort of training plan this week. So far I have managed a grand total of 20 mins on my bike, 0 pool hours and 0 running and I'll be surprised if that changes today. Good Luck this weekend. Ludington would be fun to do, its a great spot for a Tri. We have a volleyball tourney in Carrellton and Our exchange student goes home that weekend. I understand what you mean about live and training. I am just glad I get to stop going to Detroit Metro for a while. I didn't realize that there was a Tri up in Ludington until yesterday...also had never been to Ludington until last week. Where do they do the swim? Is it all downtown? (I could go to 3D's website and look but that would be too easy). Agree that it looks like a great location. I too have bee struggling with fmaily, etc., etc. Starting to try to get into a rhythm again from a workout perspective. I have the end of season Tri at Belle Isle in September. Doing the Sprint and will make a game time decision on whether I complete he run portion. The swim is in the harbor between the breakwalls. The bike is out to the state park in the dunes and the run is in the city. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 4 mile easy run this morning followed by 2300 in the pool this afternoon. It's mega windy out, I might just wimp out and bring my bike down to the trainer for today's scheduled ride, it's only 45 minutes. Good thing is I get another entire rest day tomorrow by getting the swim done today!

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Panic time! The bottom bracket on my less than year old bike is screwed up bad. It sounds like loose rocks or bearings rolling around inside there. I'm taking to the shop I bought it from (hour away) tomorrow first thing, I'm a little worried about having it back in time for my race on the 26th. |

Probably just a bearing that crapped out, no biggie for any bike mechanic, maybe a two hour job at the most. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This morning I ran before work, didn't feel great. I swum this evening too, not one good workout this week. Very inconsistent in the water and very little rest are not making for a good combo. If nothing goes wrong, I shouldn't have any more work related travel until the year's over. We'll see! Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ernesto you're right, the bearings were shot. I'm not sure how that happens, but it will only take an hour or so to replace. Next Tuesday when they get them in. Well, I guess it's a better situation than I thought, and I got it fixed by next weekend's race. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looking for suggestions...I have a Sprint Tri scheduled on Sept 16th. I've had no rhythm in my training as of late. Its a 500M swim, 12.4 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. No issues on the distances but want to figure out where to put efforts for next 4 weeks, its been along time since I raced a Tri (2009) but not planning on much of a taper, couple days?? I've been following a rehab running program and how that goes will determine if I race the run or not. been trying to swim 3 times a week for 30ish minutes. Biking has been inconsitent at best. Looking for thoughts on how much you think I can increase bike and swim intensity over the next 3 weeks and what gains I can see? |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I would vote for increasing the bike workouts. As far as time goes, there's not a lot to be gained in that short of a swim. But better bike legs can realize more time, both on the bike and the run. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Had to bring the bike down to St. Cloud today to have the bottom bracket taken apart and inspected. The bearings on one side are trashed, but of course they have to order the part and won't have it until Tuesday. I've been looking for an excuse to ride my road bike again anyways, right? It was supposed to be a rest day, but to kill time I drove over to the University and swam in their pool. It's always nice to visit a pool I don't ever use and get to workout with a new crowd. Today was fun because several of the swimmers were from the school's swim team, and I never get to swim with anyone of that caliber. Good motivation to have kids literally swimming circles around me. 2100 yards in 30:58 today. Had to cut it short to get to a deep tissue massage I scheduled at a nice place down there. Does anyone else here get bodywork done? What kinds, how often, and how do you like to work it into your training schedule?
