Girl Passing on Left

never mind! I see you just sent me your info! talk with you sometime saturday! what arts festival...is it? not international festival is it!??? HOPING FINGERS TOES CROSSED!?

The arts festival is actually along the Woodlands waterway Saturday and Sunday.  But it should be a good weekend for the International Festival as well. Got a swim in then took my son shopping this morning, so didn't make it today.  If we don't do the ride tomorrow AM, then maybe I'll go in the morning.  Hope you got in safely!

i ran again. i am starting to feel a littl bit more like my self. yay! i decided that i am only going to allow myself to drink diet coke on the days that i run. that way i'll either run more, or conserve coke. LOL BUT i ran today, so i get coke.

Sure glad we can keep this group- going-  I enjoy reading and learning from everyones posts- and... heh I just started and looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Was hoping to get out for the first time on the bike- however again crappy weather forced into the cocubines (sp?) of 'da basement" -oh well got it done! My body is still fatigued from last weeks race ( what about yours Yvonne??!!)- anyway- just finished some Cadbury Easter eggs ( yup- 2!)  for a boost... ( should have not even purchased them!!) Anyway- everyone have a good w'end!

-Helen

Yep, while the legs aren't sore, they are definitely still fatigued- particularly on the stairs. Tomorrow's race will just be about experience and staying warm. Hoping that the adrenaline will help beat some of the fatigue. Please send warm weather wishes this way!!!!!

The one decision that I am still grappling with is whether to wear the tri shorts and top (neither of which I have ever worn) to swim and then throw layers over for bike and run or to wear my swimsuit with layer on.....going for a quick ride and run now to see if the swim suit rides up. Will report back in a bit!

Oh, I forgot the big news! As of this morning, my BMI puts me at only "overweight" and not obese. I started at a BMI of 43.6, so that was considered mordidly obese.

Just back from shopping with my 10 year old son - 4 pair of shorts, 3 shirts, a pair of Nikes, and a swimsuit later, I'm back at home.  I pointed out to him that all I got was a bottled water!  So, just laying around for about 45 minutes before I get ready to go to my race. It's 80 degrees and partly sunny right now, so it's going to be warm. Thankfully, most of the run is on a trail through a nature preserve, so should be a little cooler in the trees. There will be a crawfish boil and a Zydeco band afterwards (not that the crawfish sounds too good right now for my stomach). Hopefully it won't be as muddy as it was last year. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Sounds like great fun! I got to find me a race that does a crawfish boil....all I ever seem to end up with are stale bagels! Hope it's a great one for you, Lisa! Looking forward to hearing from you afterwards!

So I think I have it figured out...my two piece swimsuit does not ride when cycling or running so I will stick with that until I actually try out the tri shorts and top in the pool. My 'still waiting to hit puberty' chest does not require any support above what the swim top gives so despite the teasing from my sister- I am ok with it. LOL...

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend.

I managed 27 miles on the tri bike in the basement. Worked hard. HR stayed pretty low. I guess this tri stuff really makes you fit ;)

Awesome work, Nicole! Were you on rollers or trainer?

Today I was on the trainer. I've never tried using aerobars on the roller and I don't think I ever will ;)

Thought you would like to know my travel ventures...was held over in LA waiting for my final leg yesterday....when they made an announcement that they overbooked the flight and needed four volunteers to stay in LA overnight. They offered 200 dollars plus the cost of your flight...plus would feed you...put you up in a hotel and then fly us the next day for free....I went up to the desk...was the first to arrive and agree to it but wanted to make sure my luggage would be safely locked away in Houston awaiting me and if I would get a direct flight and also the time of the flight....everything sounded very reasonable and so I did agree to it and he printed my voucher...booked me in a room and gave me a food voucher as well as made reservations for  the following day. When I turned around there were others who were also willing...he looked at the flight manifest and realized that there were open seats still and that it looked like the flight may not be overbooked after all...he had the others go get on the plane as I stood there I asked...does that mean I need to give these vouchers back...and he told me ABSOLUTELY NOT! and then told me that I could go get on the flight as planned and keep the vouchers! YIPEE! love SOUTHWEST! Will be giving the voucher back to my dd who gave me hers for this trip! someone waswatching out for her! KARMA is an amazing thing!

will try and catch up on the thread tomorrow...

OBTW...was not a good day for my dad....very hard to get around....only going from bed to his chair is SUCH A TO DO!...but I am soooo very thankful to spend any and all time with him!

thanks for your prayers/thoughts! you guys rock! have a great weekend! HUGS!

Nicole, one of the first things I noticed when I put aero bars on my road bike was that my HR was instantly lower.  I think it has something to do with the riding position.  Bonus points!

Happy Sunday!

I did a 4+ mile run and then had a nice breakfast out with DP and a friend. Mani/pedis coming up shortly, too. Of course, today is a much better day for riding weather wise. Oh well.

Susie reported it; I wasn't sure what to report. I'm guessing it has something to do with being limited to friends only.

My time was not as good as I hoped. I dressed way too warm and should have brought something to drink (no aid station). But, it turned out to be a warm and sunny day (big change from April 1st when we had snow). Now that the days are getting longer and the weather is now getting warmer (hopefully) I will have to get out and run more and hopefully improve my time. Next race is in June (10K)

How did everyone else do? Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Looks like fun! They don't seem to have it yet but keep an eye on http://www.gpscity.ca/ as they are based in Calgary and generally are quite a bit cheaper than buying in store. When you're ready, I could even pick it up for you and mail it off!

Well, I did it!  Laughing My first triathlon!!!!! I am hooked!

My swim felt kinda like Yell...it was amazing that they only had 2 of us per lane but the wait was absolutely unbearable!

T1- OMG...a shock of cold running outside in my swim suit but the biggest kicker- though very funny- was that some snow was melting and the stream was directed right at my set up. Result...tights that were soaking wet! I was in absolute disbelief and had no idea what to do- luckily my run coach was close by and I screamed at him for his advice. I ended up wringing them out and putting them on. sigh....

Bike was Smile. While there were some cold head winds at times, I felt fantastic even with soggy pants.

T2- felt fast but must do more practice as I forgot to tighten the Yanks until I took a few steps. oops.

Run was Tongue out... as it was a good push to try to find my pace but I was happy with my effort.

If you care to read more...race report is up. Thanks for your support gang! YOU are all such an INSPIRATION!

Results are not posted just yet but my watch had 1:24  (14:40Swim and 24:40Run) forgot to get my split for the bike, and I know T1 was a looooooong one.
