Mike--good luck to your daughter!

Nicole--Seriously, that is a busy weekend!

Swim this morning--2500m with masters. It was really hard to get out of the toasty bed and go outside in the 12F to get to the pool.

Had a run yesterday afternoon too. It was cold, but not 12F cold! I'm starting to see improvements in my running! Four runs a week and I finally have times coming down and feel good about running. I still have a mental block about running anything over five miles, but I'm working on that one. That is the inner fat kid in me screaming you can't do that, you're the fat kid! Lately when she rears her head I have been screaming back, I can do that! I ran a half marathon--after a 1.2mi swim and 56mi bike! STFU!

Given it's in B-more we thought about going, but with the swim meet and the weather we'll just watch on TV.  I went to one back in the 70s when they had it at JFK stadium in Philly - yes I'm old (I was little then, though, so maybe not that old).

Pretty terrible run this morning for me. I knew going in it was going to be bad. I donated blood yesterday afternoon, so I couldn't keep my pace up or hr down.

My usual Saturday morning open water swim group. Much warmer air today, about 58 degrees when we started. But the water was still 60-61. Did about 2.1km in about 42 minutes. The gig today was that we were challenged to swim the entire time breathing to our weakest side. So I was never putting out a ton of effort but it wasn't "smooth" by any stretch. I find myself increasingly looking forward to these Saturday morning swims each week.

After warming up at home I did 34 minute yoga DVD, which was supposed to be Friday night but had way too much of a stomach ache to attempt!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I wish I could be close to your open water swim practices, living in Madrid (in the middle of the country), no seaside or lake nearby, lucky you!

Yes Juan, I consider myself extremely lucky to have landed where I did. 25-30 people to swim in December!? Over 100 during summers I hear. Really is a great community.

That is awesome! I have done a couple of swims with our local tri club. If there are 7 swimmers it is a "huge" group.

Off day yesterday and then up before the sun to hit masters. We did sprints today. After a couple of weeks of long stuff, that was HARD.

How was everyone's weekend? I finished up my Christmas shopping, so I'm calling it a good one!

Lots of driving and lots of sitting watching kids swim (daughter got 6 PRs out of 7 races, so a pretty good weekend though she wanted to crack a minute in the 100 free and had to settle for just over 1:01).

And I just started my Christmas shopping LOL.

I was with a bunch of Navy people, so was there with you! Super bummed their streak was broken my first time going. Pretty sure I am bad luck It was a lot of fun though, and we had some pretty sweet seats! Also was up in the press box after the game. My friends bf works for Navy and got us credentials to go up there, so we warmed up and ate some of the free food while he finished up his work. I got a tour. It was pretty cool!

I love that you are screaming back! Positive self-talk is so important, and we all know you are MORE than capable of running that distance. Keep up the great work!

Yay for donating blood! Understandable that the workout was rough so don't be too hard on yourself. Going down a pint takes a lot out of you!

I missed masters practice Saturday b/c I was hurting a bit from the holiday party the night before, so had a pretty lazy weekend workout wise. I did do some Christmas shopping yesterday. My siblings and I agreed not to buy gifts for each other. I will buy gifts for my parents and my niece and nephews. I got the niece and nephews pretty much done, just need to order one or two more things off of Amazon. Also did a little shopping for myself hehe

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I"m going to masters swim practice tonight (my first Monday...I hear it's all freestyle b/c it's the tri practice). Will do body pump tomorrow, and need to make the rest of my weekly plan today. I have my 5 mile run this weekend, but haven't run since the turkey trot so I'm not going for time.

Nicole - other than the result it sounds like you had annawesome time.

Not sure if I mentioned I did some black Friday shopping, big items being a trainer and aero bars. Went to get a fitting done with the bars today after work. Position should be dialed in now and looking forward to my next ride.

Also not sure if I ever mentioned the beer Stone Xocoveza in this thread? I feel like I must have but it's worth a risk of a dupe post. If you like stouts and you haven't tried this beer, you must!

My strength training has entered into the "active" phase (versus the adaptation phase), so now I'm doing two sets of everything, instead of just one. Well, it certainly takes longer...:P Did my strength training this morning and all is good, except my triceps feel like they are going to fall off my arms. Not sure why that one muscle is so tired, but I guess it will work itself out. Run scheduled for later today. I think it is supposed to be a tempo run, but we'll see how I feel when it starts. Yesterday's run was better than Saturday's, but I could still feel the after effects of donating blood in the high HR and slower pace.

Ran right into a cold front this afternoon. Temp dropped nine degrees and wind increased 15mph during an hour run. Considering this my annual reminder to check the weather before I head out for a run!

400!! Holy cow. That is truly amazing.

I'm also sort of a numbers geek and may take some time to go back and add up my 2016....don't think I'll have half that!

2400 yards of swimming last night and 55 mins of yoga today. Again the Rodney Yee DVD.

Mike - Racer 5 is a great one. One of my new favorites.

45 minutes on the trainer tonight. Love the trainer as an option when we have busy family life going on.

9F "feels like" temp and I bailed on my morning outdoor run. Must be getting soft in my old age...??. As soon as the terminix guy leaves, I'm off to the gym to run seven miles on a 7/1mi track. Yup...49 laps. Let's be honest, I'm doin' 50 because I can't get that close without hitting a round number. Good thing I have my tunes--otherwise I'd be bored out of my goard. It will be the first indoor run with my 920. I'm interested to see how the indoor run function works without a foot pod.

I've found that the Garmins do "OK" without a foot pod, but they're darn near spot on with one.

And yeah, 9*F would be a non-starter for me.
