Congratulations!!!! You did awesome! You handled the T1 incident so well. I am not sure what I would have done if my gear was soaked. So...now that you're hooked, what is your next?

Thanks for the tip regarding GPS City. I bought my first Garmin through them and you're right, their prices are excellent. Will probably wait a bit (I like them to work out any bugs first).

run_yc_run - 2009-04-05 8:08 PM

Well, I did it!  Laughing My first triathlon!!!!! I am hooked!

My swim felt kinda like Yell...it was amazing that they only had 2 of us per lane but the wait was absolutely unbearable!

T1- OMG...a shock of cold running outside in my swim suit but the biggest kicker- though very funny- was that some snow was melting and the stream was directed right at my set up. Result...tights that were soaking wet! I was in absolute disbelief and had no idea what to do- luckily my run coach was close by and I screamed at him for his advice. I ended up wringing them out and putting them on. sigh....

Bike was Smile. While there were some cold head winds at times, I felt fantastic even with soggy pants.

T2- felt fast but must do more practice as I forgot to tighten the Yanks until I took a few steps. oops.

Run was Tongue out... as it was a good push to try to find my pace but I was happy with my effort.

If you care to read more...race report is up. Thanks for your support gang! YOU are all such an INSPIRATION!

Results are not posted just yet but my watch had 1:24  (14:40Swim and 24:40Run) forgot to get my split for the bike, and I know T1 was a looooooong one.

Is anyone having trouble viewing Susie's training log since the switch to the new BT? With Firefox on my Mac I can't see April, but I can if I use Safari.

Yes!

My time was not as good as I hoped. I dressed way too warm and should have brought something to drink (no aid station). But, it turned out to be a warm and sunny day (big change from April 1st when we had snow). Now that the days are getting longer and the weather is now getting warmer (hopefully) I will have to get out and run more and hopefully improve my time. Next race is in June (10K)

How did everyone else do? Hope everyone had a great weekend.

maxmansmom - 2009-04-05 1:22 PM

Good luck with your race on Saturday Jules & Lisa!!  Same for you on Sunday Yvonne & Karen!!

HUH ?....How did I miss some of these racers ?........... HOLY COW how did all of you do ?
I am so sorry i missed inspiring you ! DOH

Karen - you ran for a excellent cause and that is the main objective when it comes to cancer..... Who knew it was going to warm-up so much...been there before. Great job getting out there and making a statement for a cause...sometimes it's about the bigger picture, not about us at all.

Good morning,

I continued the work of remaking my swim stroke. I didn't feel like doing drills today but I still concentrated on getting more of a catch up timing to my stroke (thinking "reach then replace") and also trying to improve my hand entry into the water. It's all still something I need to be consciously thinking about. Unfortunately, when I concentrate that much on this I'm forgetting my normal breathing pattern

THey say that it takes more than 10000m of swimming with a change before it really gets set. If so, I'm about 2/3 the way there.

Well the results are up and unfortunately they don't have specific T1 and T2 times, if I recall the location of the mats correctly, it means that transition times are built into the bike time.

Results:
Total (173)/Female (106)
Overall place: 48/17
Swim place: 144/88
Bike +T1/T2 place: 77/35
Run place: 9/2

Fairly obvious where I need some work! LOL 144th on my swim!

Overall the race organization was fantastic....my only major disappointment was that some volunteers on the course were not in place by the time the racers were on the road and one member of my tri club ended up taking a wrong turn on his run which disqualified him- He likely would have ended up placing in the top 3. Hopefully they will have that fixed for next year.

i ran again. i am starting to feel a littl bit more like my self. yay! i decided that i am only going to allow myself to drink diet coke on the days that i run. that way i'll either run more, or conserve coke. LOL BUT i ran today, so i get coke.

I have an idea then, I HATE DIET COKE.......so if I do not run or do exercise I should have to drink one on that day ! LOL
So glad you got out to run adn that you get a drink you like !! LOL

Check out the "settings" icon at the top of the page and see if that gets you what you want! It's going to take awhile to figure this new format out!

Great job, Yvonne!  Glad to hear that the weather cleared up for you and that you had a great time!  The Yankz that have require no adjustments once you have them tightened correctly.  You should just be able to put your shoes on and take off, with nothing further.  Too bad they didn't have the T1/T2 times broken out for you.  So, when is the next race?

Karen, I didn't realize you were racing this weekend! Sorry I missed that. Good job! I wasn't happy with my race, but haven't been feeling well, so just happy I got out there.  It's hard to keep up with this crazy weather!  It was 84 degrees for me, and I'm just not quite ready for that yet! Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 30s in the morning.

Offthegrid - 2009-04-04 5:00 PM Oh, I forgot the big news! As of this morning, my BMI puts me at only "overweight" and not obese. I started at a BMI of 43.6, so that was considered mordidly obese.

Susie, I haven't been able to get on your logs either for inspires. Thought maybe it was just me!  Great job on another milestone in your weight loss!

Today was a good day -- I downloaded "Jai Ho" from the "Slumdog Millionaire" soundtrack, and that's my current personal theme song. I love it.

That movie was AWESOME, by the way. You all are assigned to see it!

Okay, take a DEEP breath!

Now, look above the buttons for all the stuff (Programs, Articles, Races, etc.) at the top of the page. I'm not sure what that first little icon is (circle with some colors in it), but the second icon is "Settings". If you click on that, you'll get to your control panel. Luckily, when you get there, it looks pretty much the same as before!

How'd that feel?

If you click on that color wheel button you get a color pallette where you can change the color of the dividers, etc on your pages.

Tomorrow is my Mom's surgery, any prayers appreciated, she is having a hysterectomy and in the past she has had some major problems with surgeries ie: bp bottoms out, loses blood, and fights the anethesia.
I will check back later with everyone...I have much to get done today so I can be off work tomorrow to be with Mom.
Everyone have a terrific Tuesday!!!!!
