Explain to your boss the situation. Tell him how important this 3k post is too you. Maybe he/she will alllow you a longer lunch hour today to ponder over what the 3000 post should be about?
Either that, or post us a cool picture. I'm easy.

KauaiShan - 2009-06-18 7:23 PM love love love the Steve poster - that's my new computer wallpaper. The second Steve put that pic up, I thought "that pretty much sums up HTFU". Steve, you are amazing. Good luck at Livestrong - my husband is doing it too. We drove up that hill near Montreaux last week - that's nasty.... but after Boise, that'll be a breeze for you

So my race got postponed by 2 months but I've kept up on training and decided to sign up for a sprint next weekend.  First race - cant wait!  Reading all your posts and race reports really inspired me to race sooner than later. Going to do the course tomorrow (it's close to my house).  Still taking it easy on the running so we'll see how it goes.

Way to adapt...Next week will come fast. Have great week of training and enjoy next weekend.

Ok, so for post # 3000, here is some motivation for you folks, I compiled this list and put it in my log at the end of 2008

My 2008 race schedule and placings, note culpeper sprint and my swim time for 750M

Not that I am super fast now but my times have gotten significantly better from just one full year of concentrated training.
Also note Hagerstown,  6th in swim, 3rd in bike, 5th in run and 2nd in AG, The guy 3rd in AG was ahead of me on swim and run and just about even on bike, but with transitions I beat him by 3 seconds...

Good job.

Going back to the group conversation abt pool v open water, next time someone asks if there is a difference just refer them back to this post.  Your first three, pool swims, v Culpeper, first OWS.  Almost like they are two different animals.

yeah that culpepper swim was quite amazing I held onto every boat and tried to quit once by raising my hand but no one saw me so I had to finish.

Looking forward to getting back to Culpepper for some redemption.

Congratulations Rob on the promotion, things definitely looking up!

Your opinions count.

1) Do you like the quote?  Or should I do the "Pain is temporary. Quitting last forever."
2) Should I ditch the 2 borders?  Leave them? Or just have 1?
3) The white clouding around the edges- Keep do away with or tone down?

Doug--the key is don't look down at your Garmin when you turn it off.  I do that everytime and my finish photo always stinks.

Rob--congrats on the promotion after only working there for a month or two! Nice work.

Here is a question for the group. I found out the HIM I signed up for lost its USAT sanction last year for several violations.  How should I think about that? does that happen often?   I scoured through the BT and ST forums and found a lot of negative press related to course accuracy, lack of signage or volunteers on the bike course, and general safety issues on both the bike and run course.   All of it concerns me, but it is the only late season HIM in WI.  Do I avoid it? or just be aware of the potential problems?

dalessit - 2009-06-18 9:10 PM So if you guys came upon a windfall of say 500 bucks and you were in my shoes what would you get.

A. Better Aero front wheel.  Right now I am running a Neuvation M28 (or is it R, whatever the aero version is), which is basically a regular front with aero spokes.  I would be looking at an H3 or HED Jet.  Something with non carbon braking surface so I don't have the wheel sitting around waiting for races.

B. Garmin 705.  Doing longer rides using a cue sheet sucks, I always get lost, would be nice to know where I am going.  Really only reason I would use this.  My PT is wired so it wouldn't be able to replace the head unit on my PT.  But of course it is technology and I love technology.

C. Wetsuit.  Right now I don't own a wetsuit I like, but really I only have a few races a year that are wetsuit legal so it is almost worth it to just rent, since I probably would spend 500 bucks over 3 years worth of rentals.

D. anything else?

None of the above. If I were you, I would take the money and invest in a running coach leading up to MCM.  Second on the list would be a long training weekend somewhere worthwhile, like Lake Placid or Madison WI!  Great tri training!

Are runnnig coaches that much cheaper than tri coaches?  From what I have seen of tri-coaching 500 bucks might get me 2 months at most of training.

If you have no other option then go for it. However, knowing you now, plan accordingly. Do not expect good support. Plan and bring your own nutrition. Run the routes ahead of time. I know you can finish it.  You just need to be very self-reliant when out on the course. That way if they get their act together then all the better!

Tony the Garmin 310 Xt looks incredibly cool. Been waiting for mine for a while. Sounds like it got released, then had a few bugs, and will be released again in July.
