KelliD - 2010-03-25 6:53 AM I second (or maybe third or fourth by this point) what everyone else said.  I'd make the long run the priority.  Do you have a trainer?  Can you get some/all of the bike in that way?

Oh hell, no way I am doing 4 hours on a trainer.  I am sooooo not that dedicated.  I am thinking I'll scrap the tempo all together and get in an easy run this weekend, especially since my 2.5hr run is suppose to be pushing it, and do my long run tomorrow.  Then maybe I'll find a way to just go back and forth close enough to the house on the bike that I still get some milage in, if not 4 hours hopefully I get at least something.

I was just looking at some past results from previous 70.3 races and it looks like it will take a sub 4:26 to qualify for the World Championship. I'm hoping for sub 6 hours, so what can I do between now and then to get to sub 4:26????????? Undecided

Evondo, start getting my race plan ready....... hehehehehe.

I wish I knew, I haven't been a 4:26... yet

For that Lonestar course I think speed of the race is going to be large determined by the wind conditions. If it's a favorable or calm wind I would expect some blazing times with how fast/flat the course is.

You'd be surprised, it's totally doable!  Mind over matter   What if you break it up....ride an hour/hour & a half, hop off for 5-10 min, ride another hour/hour & a half, hop off for a few and repeat.  I also find that adding in a Spinervals DVD or catching up on tv shows or a movie makes the time go faster.  And seriously, once you turn the corner from the feeling like you might die from boredom, the rest of the time will fly by.

4:26 should be no problem, just find a fast swimmer and grab a foot for a free ride, you'll save the energy for the bike. Once your on the bike draft like crazy and sprint the half marathon (you should have plenty of energy stored from the swim and bike). Oh yeah ... throw back as much red bull as possible so you have plenty of energy ... this is my fool proof plan to go sub 4:30 Saturday ... it should work for anyone.

Hey Justine... why do you wanna qualify for Clearwater anyways?  Only polk-a-dotted freaks with kankles do that stupid stuff! LMFAO!  That's my envious side speaking out loud!

Yeah, you start breaking that 4:45 threashold - you are really haulin' (IMO)... below 4:30 - insane!

You might wanna try the Mercury speed boat motor strapped to your butt for the swim and a large rocket for the bike & run!  Or quit your day job, train 40 hrs a week, drop your weight down to about 155, take out a second mortgage for all the finest equipment and pray that nothing goes wrong on race day... like gastro problems, muscle cramps or a really strong wind both ways, uphill in the snow!!! LOL!
