1007 DeLand, Florida | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open Hi All! I've been a bad BDASer. I have a lot of catching up to do - just wanted to check in, wish everyone the best of the season, and mention how awesome it is that it's December 21st and BDAS is still always on top for latest posts. MAN you guys are active! Here's a little 'gifts for a triathlete' article that made me chuckle: http://www.triathlete.com/2016/12/lifestyle/totally-awesome-gifts-t... I've been pretty much run only (with a smattering of bike rides) since late August. Dopey Challenge 2017 is in a couple weeks for me - Jan 5-8. I'm doing the whole thing - 5k, 10k, HM, Marathon over 4 days for a total of 48.6 miles. Hoping not to die. Last peak training week (3 miles, 5 miles, 12 miles, 26 miles on 4 consecutive days) was this past Thurs-Sun and I didn't die then, so fortune may yet be on my side Also I'm attempting to pull Dave Q off the couch and race with him again in 2017. As the BDASer residing closest to him, I feel it's my duty - haha. Hope everyone has a great holiday season and a fantastic 2017! - John |

One of them is on a project I'm working on, so I'll be sure to hit her up for a race(s) report. Good luck and yes, give Dave a kick in the butt and a pat on the back for us. |

Finished it off with some planks and some stretches my chiro showed me yesterday that won't necessarily fix my back, but will strengthen my pathetic hip flexors. Happy Winter Solstice!!! |

I thought my 2800yds put me over 300k yds for the year, but I just logged it and I'm at 299,956. Arrrggghhhh!!! Pool has limited hours next week, but I'm certain to get there at least one day!! Afterwards I hit the ST. So far so good in this months goal of ST twice a week in December. |

Matt, thanks for the support John, good luck on your 4-day race! And being most likely the BDASer living farthest, send him my "kick on the butt and pat on the back" from Spain. Have a great holiday break and my best wishes for 2017 to all of you!! Juan |

Afterwards I hit the ST. So far so good in this months goal of ST twice a week in December. I would just go and swim those 44 yards and call it a day. And yes that means I would stop 6 yards from the wall. That's a great number for the year - averaging 6K/week for an entire year is no joke. I've been around 200K before, but noting like that. Congrats! |

Member 3141 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open Eight miles around the tiny track again...56 laps. Oh so boring! But, easier on my poor legs and not in the rain this morning, which is good since I'm nursing a cold. Hit the pool afterwards for a short swim just to cool off the legs and hit 300k for the year. I'm far too much of a wimp to try an ice bath, so hitting the pool is as close as i can get. Off to the in-laws this afternoon, so I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas or a Happy Hanukkah today! |

193 , California | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open 2150yd swim after work and then 10 mins of strength after that. Started strength training this week, not much yet, but did some on three different days so I'm proud of that. Also was my third swim of the week. I am following an offseason plan that makes you focus on only one of the disciplines so for a few weeks it's gonna stay at one run and one bike each week but the swims are gonna grow to five. Have a good weekend everyone! -Matt |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open Hi All and Merry Christmas to everyone in the group. Apologies for my hiatus - I haven't done anything tri in almost 4 months. Major slacker. In that time, I've gained almost 40 pounds and have been struggling with life and job etc. Please don't focus on that - it just is.... again - sorry. So in my first post in a couple months, I find myself back at square 1. I have the knowledge of the last 4 years but that's about it. All my fitness gains are gone and I find the idea of starting again from scratch to be daunting. My wife and kids gave me what they have always given me for Christmas - Tri Stuff. I got a Garmin 920 I've been drooling over for 3 years. I got new areo bars. And I also got a pair of Roku googles. So, now I have to find the motivation to use them. I know I need to start small and I plan to do just that - a 30 minute walk this afternoon. But what are some of the groups suggestions on how to get my @55 in gear? I think the goal for 2017 is to get rolling again and to do sprint and olys and stay away from the half irons that plagued me last year. I have missed you guys/gals. Glad to be back! DQ |

You need to post some pictures - nothing like some bike porn on Christmas day! As for the goal of eating better - I think the majority of us could hope on board this ship - especially after the holidays! How about a MFP challenge on logging in for a certain #of days. Thoughts? |

Gretchen - 8 miles on a small track is no joke. It's a great way to build up mental toughness and congrats on hitting 300k in the pool for the year. How many miles is that? I'm at my in laws and not particularly enjoying them - hope the same is not true for you. Merry Christmas to you too! |

At 265 heavy running in out until I lose 40 pounds. But IO think we should sign for the season opener. Have you ever done the swim? Thanks for the motivation! DQ |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open I am currently staying with my in-laws so there is no chance of a bike or swim for the next week or so. Major bummer. I'm gonna go for a walk to try to get in something. At 265 (almost 70 pounds over race weight) I'm sure that a run would bust my knees even with walk breaks. Yesterday was a good tri day! I got lots of good gear. What did you all get? |

Oh...just my usual. Back flared up big time back in the middle of November. Still a mess - seeing my spine surgeon on Friday to discuss last resort options before getting fusion surgery, which I would rather not go through. Welcome back! |
