I joined in January and attended my first meeting last month. It's nice to have finally met other, local triathletes. I still haven't participated in a group event but that'll be coming soon.

Ok, I give up ! You guys, where the he!!  is my control panel button ?
Seriously, where is it ?...................

Check out the "settings" icon at the top of the page and see if that gets you what you want! It's going to take awhile to figure this new format out!

I can't find a settings button either ......see this is why I can't take change ! I SUCK AT IT ! lol
Okay, take a DEEP breath! Now, look above the buttons for all the stuff (Programs, Articles, Races, etc.) at the top of the page. I'm not sure what that first little icon is (circle with some colors in it), but the second icon is "Settings". If you click on that, you'll get to your control panel. Luckily, when you get there, it looks pretty much the same as before! How'd that feel? Trish

Well no freaking wonder i can' t find it, it's the size of a gnat !!!!!!
THANK YOU for calming me dow.....lol and showing me where the friggin little wrench dealie is !

I know I keep bringing this up but just can't bear the thought of losing our group! Just saw this note:

"The Winter/Spring 2009 mentor program has officially ended.  What next?

The group can disband (thank your mentor!).
The group can still post to keep in touch even if your mentor has left.
You will probably get archived though you can still see and post in your threads if this is your preferred method of communication.

BECOME A MENTOR FOR OUR UPCOMING SPRING/SUMMER 2009 PROGRAM"

Apparently we will be archived!!! Julie, will we just start a new thread and continue???

lufferly - 2009-04-06 5:06 PM [ The Yankz that have require no adjustments once you have them tightened correctly.  You should just be able to put your shoes on and take off, with nothing further.  Too bad they didn't have the T1/T2 times broken out for you.  So, when is the next race?

Hmmm....good point on the Yankz... makes a lot of sense- they are elastic which means that I should just set them and then they should give to allow my foot entry into the shoe. Go figure!

I checked my bike computer and determined that my time on my bike was 41:21 which means that total T1/T2 times is 3:38 - guessing the majority was in T1 wringing out the pants.

Now the next race....I would love your input...so as many of you know I had a slight error in judgement Embarassedand signed up for IMCanada for Aug 30 despite having no tri experience. (Does being married to one count? ) It was just so inspiring watching and dh signed up again as did other friends. Would you buy peer pressure? LOL Anyway, I am committed- or should have been committed- to an institution that is... so just trying to get some good experience beforehand.

So my options (including hesitations/considerations) are:

May 24th Try this Tri super-sprint (pool swim) – Signed up for 5k trail race May 23rd

May 31th  KGH Sprint (pool swim) – Signed up to run BIG relay (15mi) June 6th and not sure I want to race 3 weekends in a row

June 20th  Chinook Olympic  (lake swim) – conflicts with a 5k trail race (oops but I would forfeit trail race)
July 4th Foothills Charity Sprint (lake swim)- SIGNED UP

July 12th Osoyoos Half (lake)- Intimidating as it is a VERY hilly bike- though covers much the same course as the IMC so would be good practice-I figure that this will either psych me up or psych me out! DH is already signed up.

July 18th Canmore Olympic (lake)
Aug 9th Chaparral Olympic (lake)
Aug 16th Strathmore Womens Sprint (pool)
Aug 30th IMC- SIGNED UP

PLEASE HELP!!! I really value your thoughts on this one! Thank you!!!!

Well, I did it!  Laughing My first triathlon!!!!! I am hooked!

My swim felt kinda like Yell...it was amazing that they only had 2 of us per lane but the wait was absolutely unbearable!

T1- OMG...a shock of cold running outside in my swim suit but the biggest kicker- though very funny- was that some snow was melting and the stream was directed right at my set up. Result...tights that were soaking wet! I was in absolute disbelief and had no idea what to do- luckily my run coach was close by and I screamed at him for his advice. I ended up wringing them out and putting them on. sigh....

Bike was Smile. While there were some cold head winds at times, I felt fantastic even with soggy pants.

T2- felt fast but must do more practice as I forgot to tighten the Yanks until I took a few steps. oops.

Run was Tongue out... as it was a good push to try to find my pace but I was happy with my effort.

If you care to read more...race report is up. Thanks for your support gang! YOU are all such an INSPIRATION!

Results are not posted just yet but my watch had 1:24  (14:40Swim and 24:40Run) forgot to get my split for the bike, and I know T1 was a looooooong one.

CONGRATS YVONNE! so happy for your...minus the wet pant thing! that is terrible! but look at what a trooper you are! have not gone by your race report yet...but will sometime today! WAY TO GO GIRL! we told you...that you would be HOOKED IN A BAD (GOOD) way!!!! CONGRATS OUR NEWEST TRIATHLETE TEAMY!!!!

kew - 2009-04-05 6:33 PM My time was not as good as I hoped. I dressed way too warm and should have brought something to drink (no aid station). But, it turned out to be a warm and sunny day (big change from April 1st when we had snow). Now that the days are getting longer and the weather is now getting warmer (hopefully) I will have to get out and run more and hopefully improve my time. Next race is in June (10K) How did everyone else do? Hope everyone had a great weekend.
maxmansmom - 2009-04-05 1:22 PM

No, doing a triathlete is not the same thing as doing a triathlon! Embarassed

Honestly, I think that zero-tri-to-IM in one season is crazy but I hope you know your body and know what you are capable of. What's your base like now?

Getting in an Oly and a HIM before the IM would make sense, but scheduling them in might be quite difficult. While you might be able to do sprints on back-to-back weekends you're gonna want to leave increasing weeks between longer races, with probably a good month before the IM. Some people say that you can treat a sprint in there as just a tough workout day.

I would recommend that you check out the IM training plans here on BT for more insight.

Good luck!

MDHillSlug - 2009-04-06 8:51 AM Good morning,

I continued the work of remaking my swim stroke. I didn't feel like doing drills today but I still concentrated on getting more of a catch up timing to my stroke (thinking "reach then replace" and also trying to improve my hand entry into the water. It's all still something I need to be consciously thinking about. Unfortunately, when I concentrate that much on this I'm forgetting my normal breathing pattern

THey say that it takes more than 10000m of swimming with a change before it really gets set. If so, I'm about 2/3 the way there.

way to keep working on that! will  have to pick your brain when I get back...definitely need to improve there.....my brother n laws....brother was a 3 time national swimmer and a coach and has all the stuff to film in the water...and may be able to give me a TI class and swim help! HOPING SO!!!!

i ran again. i am starting to feel a littl bit more like my self. yay! i decided that i am only going to allow myself to drink diet coke on the days that i run. that way i'll either run more, or conserve coke. LOL BUT i ran today, so i get coke.

I have an idea then, I HATE DIET COKE.......so if I do not run or do exercise I should have to drink one on that day ! LOL
So glad you got out to run adn that you get a drink you like !! LOL
does that mean if I go run I get a margarita!.....BYE NOW....GOING FOR A RUN! '

seriously Lyssa...you do what it takes to get Lyssa back to where Lyssa needs to be...if it means drinking cokes...you go girl...drink up! hoping you are still going forward and out running or biking as we speak...seems to be rainiing all over California now...wondering how Seattle weather must be!?!?

Im with you Julie...diet coke leaves a nasty aftertaste to me....but that is a good thing...now if I could get that taste in other cokes, margaritas, and some beers would probably be much skinnier and would not want one soooooooooooooooooo badly.....

Offthegrid - 2009-04-06 8:19 PM Today was a good day -- I downloaded "Jai Ho" from the "Slumdog Millionaire" soundtrack, and that's my current personal theme song. I love it. That movie was AWESOME, by the way. You all are assigned to see it!

I saw it a few weeks ago. It was a bit different from what I expected but it was VERY good.

I think I am one of a few that have not seen this! but will while I  am here!

did watch Seven Pounds last night with my mom...was great! we were rather confuzled for the first part of the movie but really liked it but pull out the tissues if you are going to watch it! saw Marley the night before....cute but sad!

lufferly - 2009-04-06 5:06 PM [ The Yankz that have require no adjustments once you have them tightened correctly.

Thank you!!!!

wow...you are HOOKED arent you Yvonne!! IM is a HUGE commitment but you of all people I think can do it! what is your coach saying? and your hubby? I personally say go for it! but make sure to do lots of training...beginning today! you have summers off right? that will give you lots of time to do what is needed to get you across that finishline! interested in what your coach says, though! ONCE AGAIN CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST TRI FINISH!!!! you da tri-gal!

run_yc_run - 2009-04-07 2:44 PM I know I keep bringing this up but just can't bear the thought of losing our group!

I don't see any reason why we can't just continue as is, right here where we are.

Just continue in the archived area? or ask if our thread can be transferred to the new area?

The group I was in last year became archived at some point but we just continued without changing a thing.

our team did the same thing...I was on it with Amy last year....so I do think we will be just fine here!
