Won't make either practice swim with you guys since we don't pull in till about noon on Friday. Definitely plan getting the water at least once though.

I also will miss the am swim - get into Spokane at 9:30 Friday.  If others want to hit a early afternoon swim we can try to make that happen.

You guys arriving on Friday - I did the same thing last year.  I recommend registering first thing when you get there because you'll be standing in line for a bit.  The banquet is another easy place to catch up with people if you don't make it for a morning swim.

Did you use TriBike Transport? If so, do you have pick up times/places from them yet? I haven't received anything but know I drop my bike and gear off on 6/18.

Did the CDA loop twice on Sat.  The temperature was up to 70, but when riding in the sun it felt like 85!  The water is warming up.  I jumped in after the ride to cool down.

I will try and make it to the BT swim, where is the meeting point? The moose?  I don't know where that is.

This weekend on Hockey Night in Canada the Coaches Corner R. McLean made reference to........... YEP the one and only Honey Badger. I about died laughing. So get back in your pain caves and feel the burn until Honey Badger lets you out to race.

At the end of my 20 miler today, I looked in the car mirror and discovered (as expected) that I was covered in dead gnats. There were swarms of them all over the route (a 5 mile loop around a lake) today---but I didn't realize HOW MANY were on me. I just looked at them, wiped them off, and said gross, but whatever if it's nasty, cause the honey badger would probably just eat them and say "protein" because he's naasstty....

Look at what you people have done to me....

This is the last thing I read last night before going to bed.  Thanks for the laugh! Congrats on the sweet peak weekend you just pulled off.

It's going to be fun Monday morning pointing at all the people I know from here on the KQ list

I'm using tribike as well. In the athlete guide it said something about picking the bike up in an area next to transition.

Tribike Transport Procedures:

• Drop off your bike at a local partner shop (fully assembled, minus your pedals).

• TBT will pick up your bike as-is and drive it to your event.

• When you arrive, pick up your bike, just as you left it, next to transition.

• After your race, walk your bike over to TBT directly from transition, drop it off and forget about it until you get home.

• TBT will deliver it back to you.

This will be my first time using them, so I hope it goes well. I will likely use a gear bag with them too (extra $35) to put misc. items in, like nutrition, helmet, tools, etc

Chomping at the bit and hard time focusing on work... Anyone else feel that way?!

To make things worse I pulled a calf muscle running up the boat ramp after a cold water swim (how lame is that!) tri relay, and now I can't run for a few days (hopefully! - this ol lady don't heal like she used to!)  Everyone stay healthy and minimize as much risk of injury as possible.  It made me crazy and emotional being this close to the game!  Thank goodness for the bike!

Can't wait to meet the BT athletes that have inspired, motivated an helped train me though out this journey!  You guys ROCK!

Work? What's that?

Yes I am a total scatterbrain these last few days/weeks.  I'm so ready to just get out there on the course!

Sorry to hear about the calf strain!  It's such a bad time for injuries right now, even if they heal by race day they can really mess with mental focus.  Stay healthy everyone!

On a nice positive note, I'm thinking that I may have figured out the cause my mysterious leg pain: my running shoes!  I hadn't tried a new brand/model in 6 years, and the ones I switched to initially were giving me all sorts of problems.  I wore a different pair yesterday and suddenly felt GREAT!  Hoping the change wasn't coincidental.

As for the group swim meetup: add one more to Friday morning!  I'd love to meet all the other honey badgers out there.

Hot Broth goes with Ironman like Mike Riley does. My hope is that they take a que from Ironman Arizona and serve french fries at the finish line feast.

Now I am definitely finishing!

Sorry about the calf.

Anyone else having thoughts like -- I'm so excited about this, I can hardly wait and then Holy crap I hope I'm ready to do this and then What was I thinking, an Ironman, really? Maybe that's what you mean by scattered thoughts. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting you amazing BT athletes.

I'm going to try and get my son to make some honey badger signs for us. I think a smile and chuckle will be welcome and perhaps necessary from time to time.

Hi - Long time fan, first time poster. Thanks for sharing all of the great information. I'm training for CdA with my husband and friends here in Dallas and shared the honey badger video with them. Needless to say, it was a huge hit and has gotten us through many tough workouts including a 100-mile bike ride in 99 degree heat and 20+ mile an hour winds.  We are all determined to be the badger and not the cobra come race day!

I can already tell I'm going to expend additional energy laughing to much on this course! hahaha. I am SO EXCITED about all of it, but the thought of a bunch of Honey Badger signs all over the course fires me up (with laughter)---ahh, can't wait to get up there.  Looks like taper for me doesn't really start till next week, still a pretty solid week this week--though not quite as long of a weekend workout. Only a 65/6 brick on Saturday and 12 mile run on Sunday. So I suppose it has sort of started! (you know you're training for an Ironman when...)

There is a booth at the expo where they supply the blank sign boards, pens etc. for spectators to make  signs for their runners. The folks hosting the booth then drive the course and place the signs out along the course.  As I recall, out along lake drive past the Golf Course (On the grassy strip along the road) is where thousands of these things get posted.

I think the idea is that this is an alternative to street chalk.

If that is what it takes, heck, I will find a volunteer to hit the local In-N-Out and score a few baskets of fries for you when you cross the finish line

Is moose #5 where we were talking about meeting up? (here is the link to the moose walk in case any of you want to add it to the family's agenda http://www.coeurdalene.org/mm/trail_map.html)

YES! That's the Moose! There is also a big flag pole there too (I think), but there are easy steps down to the water. This is also a decent place for spectators to watch the swim, but they need to be prepared to grab their spot early! It gets crowded!

Oh- and Kikizen, glad I could make you laugh last night. As for your comment--well, that would be nice, I'd put money on WaterDog before me...there are some ringers in my AG coming out to this thing! We'll see how the day goes!

I saw people suiting up at both #4 and #5 last year.  But they aren't far apart so it's not really a problem.  #5 is better - I seem to recall a buoy line that goes from #5 toward the left on that pic, which is convenient for practice swimming.

Get well and stretch the calf like 6x a day.  Lots of heat/ice.  I hurt my back on Sunday when doing 20+ honey-to-do items.  It's not serious, but it hurts.  Ugh!!
