If so do you know if they are doing any repair to the bad section of the bike course near the end? Just finished a .9 mile swim. My right calf cramped up really bad so I had to cut the swim a little short. I had plenty of sodium and potassium so I am not sure what was going on. Oh well, hope everyone is having a great Sunday! Sometimes calf cramps just happen in swim training--too hard off the wall, etc. I have them every now and then, and they suck...I just typically take 5 minutes or so to take a little break and rub it out. I had one last Friday, and just had to work it out. Don't stress on it. I had my first all-road miles 100 miler yesterday and then a long run this morning (little swim here soon) and I think my quads are going to stage a coup against me. I just pray that nothing crazy happens and it's not in the 90's -100's during IMFL like it is in Texas right now. Somehow this heat is bound to make me stronger for Florida, right? Next weekend I'm heading to Katy, TX (West Houston) for a ride called the Katy Flatlands. I am excited to see what riding 100 miles on FLAT land is like. All hills where I am in Central Texas. 16 weeks and 5 days! Keep up the effort and imagine that finish line everytime you want to throw a towel in a workout!! |

Expert 764 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Wow, you guys are getting some miles in! I'm still building, with my first 4-hour ride in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I hurt my shoulder and am stuck keeping my swims short. I guess the shoulder is better than a leg (again), though. Is anyone else trying to do short races during all this training? |

Is anyone else trying to do short races during all this training? Ugh, sorry to hear about the shoulder, hope it heals quickly for you!! And yes, I'm doing some shorter races--I did an Oly over Memorial Day, and I'll do another Oly on 26 July, an Oly on 7 Sept, and a HIM on 19 Sept. Then, I'm doing the swim leg of a HIM relay on 25 Oct. I'd go nuts if I didn't have some other races to throw some adrenaline into out there!! |

Extreme Veteran 572 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Ok, our thread was getting a little too low on the page for my comfort so I thought I would bump it up with a "What do you have on plans today?" question. Today is a bit of a rest day for me. Yesterday I had my fastest bike yet over 60 miles. Although I seem to have a rash on my thighs from the bike shorts, grrrr! So I am going to put in about a mile in the pool and try and get some work done. Happy Thursday. |

Elite 2998 Fishers, Indiana | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Swim and bike for me this evening, about an hour of each. Got some good running and biking in yesterday as well. A little less swimming this week than last, but I did have my longest swim set EVER this past Tuesday...I doubt it'll be the longest one I'll do though! One more day till the weekend--while that used to mean "rest and relaxation" it now = longest workouts of the week! haha! |

Veteran 107 Virginia | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I ran hill repeats this morning and have a group ride of 30 miles planned for this evening. Taking the weekend off of long workouts for the 3Sports Sprint Tri on Sunday. Bike distance is almost there, 2 centuries in the past couple of months. On plan for my running, long runs are at 11 miles right now. I am working with a Marathon Training Team that is training for the Richmond Marathon, which happens to be one week after IMFL so their training plan works great with mine and I get 'supported' long runs! Swim is coming along, my longest to date was a 1:49 endurance swim in the Atlantic (wasnt intending to be swimming that long, but that is a story for another post) Have friends that are doing IMLP in a little over a week, so getting excited for them. I'm looking forward to November! Brad

Member 41 Tampa,Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I was looking at my training schedule and at week 15 OMG that is allot of miles in one week. What the hek did I get myself in to. I did a Sprint Tri last weekend for the fun of it. WOW talk about changing gears. I'm not use to swimming, biking and running fast anymore. It was still allot of fun but you change your entire body mechanics when you start gearing up for longer distances. |

Master 1779 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread This is a rest/recovery down week on my plan. Only doing one workout a day in Zones 1&2 is freaking me out. I'm trying to get caught up on life/work/house this week. Nice lil ride planned for Sunday. Hopefully it won't rain. If it does then it will be good training for if it rains at IMFL.

We are all getting to the meat of our schedules, lets not forget to have fun! Happy training! Holy schmoly that's a big weekend for you!! Good luck! Me: Sat- 1 hour easy ride, 5 mile brick (done in the cool of the morning already!) Sun- 100 mile ride I'm feeling well and have my moments...yesterday I had an 8 mile run at what was supposed to be a just slower than tempo run, and my legs were SO fatigued, my head was there but my legs wouldn't move faster. It was really quite bizarre. I was concerned I'd feel the same today, but not so much. It's really quite crazy. The challenge of it all is fueling me though. I get to race an Oly next weekend, so next week should be a good recovery week after a good 3-4 week build. Have a great weekend all! |

Master 1655 NJ | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Lotsa nice workouts getting done! My bike frame is cracked and Im in the middle of fighting QR on it at the moment. Brand new bike and the front derailleur broke during my HIM last week. I'll certainly win for the least amount of training in the past two weeks - Mon. officially starts my 13 week plan. It's interesting to see so much discrepancy b/tween plans. Im doing the last 1/2 of Gale B.'s 26 wk. IM plan which is completely different than her 13 week to IM which is quite a bit different than the 13 wk. to sub 13 hr. IM - all 3 plans in one book. |

I don't know how you're doing it in the heat and humidity out there, I'm having trouble just getting in my measley 6-7 hrs a week let alone century rides. I'm crossing my fingers the weather cools off by the Austin Tri. |
