Wearing a hat with a visor makes a big difference, as does finding a route with lots of shelter. I think the trick is stepping out of your house/car and start running immediately, no dallying. Pretty quickly I am happy for the coolness the rain provides |

Kind of scary. I used to run in the dark mornings when I lived in a suburban neighborhood in Maryland. That should have been way scarier, but I was constantly on the lookout for critters today. At least I didn't have to run on a treadmill. |

That means that today it is hotter than what the air condition is designed for and should not keep up. What is a design day? In Minneapolis/St. Paul, that is a day where the dry bulb temperature is 88 degrees and the wet bulb temperature is 71 degrees. That calculates out to a certain amount of energy (specific enthalpy) of ~34.7 BTU / lbm of air. So although today it is only 85 degrees out, the wet bulb is almost 75.5 degrees and that calculates out to a higher specific enthalpy. Right now the meteorologists are predicting a high of 92, if that happens then today the energy in the air will be about 17% over design. How cool! |
