Only a week and a half left and then I'll only have three months left in my 'Prep Phase' and then I start my 20-Week Ironman Training Plan... so yeah, it's getting close

Ah, looks like plenty of room for 3,000+ to fit.

If you think you're nervous, imagine what it's like over here in Japan where it's already tomorrow.  I've got one less day to train.  crap.

Hey Fred.  Regarding your question, I am going to Focus specifically on getting as strong as possible on the Bike.  This way I'll have a better chance of Running  the entire Marathon -- which is a big goal for me.

Yes - it's the RUN for me too.   My swim's OK (not fast but OK and not worth the few minutes improvement compared to effort to put in to do it) so once we get into meat of training I'll be maintaining that and focusing on the RUN as mine was awful last time.  Of course the bonus of that is that I'll need to focus on the bike too to get a good run!
But ultimately I want to run the marathon this time (last time I walked about 7 miles in the middle   )

For a good run, bike fitness and bike pacing are the real keys. I think this is the challenge of IM!

Yes! I agree. And I'm ready for that challenge

For me, the winter will be all about the bike.  Lots and lots of riding.  I'll start really building run volume around March.

PennState - 2009-11-20 5:53 PM I have much bigger goals for LP 2010... if (and that's a big if) I can stay healthy, I really am focussing on a better RUN. nyone else focussed on a particular part of the race?

yes, ALL my focus will be to go as fast as I can from the swim to the finish line while speading my effort accorindgly through all 3 sports

But for IM 2 things are key: great cycling fitness so you can get off the bike as 'fresh' as possible and of course even better run fitness; cuz it is all about the run!

My plan is to work on increasing cycling power from now until Feb and the switch to improve my endurance from March to July. For the run is to work on my endurance from now until Feb and then maintain that while improving my speed from March to July. Swim is a bit on hold due to shoulder injury but most likely I'll just work on endurance to the point swimming 2.4 hrs in around 55-60 min feels 'easy'

Since Harpoon sponsors both of the teams I belong to (cycling and triathlon) I am getting pretty darn good at it!

My plan is to pass out at mile 20 or crush the final 10K.  I hope for the latter, but either one I will accept.
