Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Oh and I thought I would share some interesting gym behaviour I saw this morning ... I got on treadmill and had a guy next to me who ran holding on the handrails the whole time. Every few minutes he'd grab the sode hand rails and skip along more lightly on his feet while holding up most of his weight with his arms. I couldn't tell if he was trying to isolate legs or was trying to rehab injury. Very confusing. And he kept trying to look at my display. Makes me wonder. Maybe there was a good reason but seems to me that if you can't run without hanging on for dear life (on a flat incline) then maybe one needs to slow the pace. I dunno. it was weird. I nearly asked him but I thought that might be rude. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge I was at a gym once and the guy would run fast for him then grab the rails and jump so his feet were on each side of the tread on the rails and then without slowing the tread would jump back on it again. He only ran for about 60 seconds each time. I kept waiting for him to face plant and unload horizontilly off the back, but he didn't. Very distracting. Snow today and a rest day, even if I am tempted to go swim... hrm that does sound nice, wouldn't stress the legs any right... nope should be a rest day. |

This morning I was very good and hit the gym for my 40 minute run. Didn't feel like dressing up to go out in the dark and cold. I am lucky, my gym is pretty much right across the street so i have very few excuses for not going. I was also a very busy girl yesterday. I did a spin on the trainer (while watching WKRP on DVD - such a great show) and then went for a half hour run. I made a bunch of cookies and then went for a swim later in the evening. I didn't feel like doing the set that was in my plan so i didn't do it. So tonight will be my third swim of the week and I will have kept up pretty well! YAY! Keeping busy! Nice work! |

Was not looking forward to the cold water bath when I got home. Perhaps I will warm up by tomorrow morning brrr. I actually should have just taken the day off. I got totally burnt on this run. I should have paid attention to yesterday's run being too slow for the effort and having no umphta even though it was a short run. Oh well taking tomorrow off to recouperate. But I am at 78 miles, so on a pretty good pace to meet my milage goal for the month. Nice run! And in the rain! |

My plan for today is a 6 mile run later today with my wife...tried doing it at 5am this morning, but just didn't feel like moving so we talked and had coffee instead. Some core/strength training later. Golf with a good friend. Accept new job and plan for transition. Your dream job! That's fantastic, good luck! |

Its probably best you did not ask He was probably doing the macho thing of setting the machine higher than he can legitimately run & looking over to see what pace you were doing and making his is higher . A guy doing arm curls yesterday at the gym besides me with heavier weights was launching his whole body back and forth to swing the barbells up and down . His form went to the dogs and i say his body swayed almost a foot with each up and down.

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Good Morning mates! Busy, busy week here. I am running a big event this weekend at the studio (I teach at a university art dept). We'll be running our largest blast furnace and melting iron for molds to make sculpture. We do this only once a year but it is so much work, literally tons of raw materials to feed the furnace. I have been making a number of trips to pick up equipment and scrap iron etc. and have not been able to post much. Tomorrow (Sat) is the big day and hopefully by next Tuesday or so all the clean up will be done and I can get some rest! In a bit I will be out for a shortish easy run. That might be it until Monday. That's OK though, this next week is a lower volume week anyway and I am way ahead of my goal for the month. Probably should have put down a larger goal anyway! |

Rest afterwords is the plan. Usually a lot of old friends come around for the event and it's kind of like a reunion. After we do the hard labor we usually do the hard partying. Not that I am able to do that so much anymore! But even a little party usually warrants a good Sunday afternoon nap! Yikes! I am getting old! |

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Great job team!!!! Nice and warm here today. Mid-upper 70's -- clear blue sky... you know --- horrid weather No run for me today.. Swim day... 2000 yards nonstop. Haven't done that for a while and it felt pretty good. Tomorrow is gonna be tough though. 9 miles on the feet. It's been at LEAST 3 years since I ran that far in one workout. I feel the soreness coming on already. But it'll be good. I really enjoyed my 8 miles last week, so I'll be good. Hope everyone has a great Weekend!

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge It is about 25F here this morning, icy and snow on the shoulders where I run. I am hoping it warms up at least enough to melt the ice off the pavement, otherwise I think I will do my run on the dreadmill tonight. I really am not going to go running on black ice doing one mile repeats at my top speed. Hopefully all my little aches and muscle groups are ready for this weekend. Nothing special, but 27 miles between now and Monday on paper. No ice for the bikeride would be nice too. |

Veteran 294 Germantown, WI | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Run tonight...maybe a run tomorrow, but definitely on Sunday. One strength/core session tonight and one Saturday and probably one on Sunday - have some making up to do. Thank you to everyone for your encouragement in the job situation. We came to an agreement in principal. I need to put my plan together and present them with compensation ideas and how I plan to tackle the objectives they have laid before me. It could work into the position we originally discussed, but it will more than likely evolve into something full time with them early next year. |
