brick94513 - 2010-01-09 2:16 PM Alright, got a nice, easy, cautious 6.5 mile run in this morning.  My glut didn't go numb, so my rehab most be working.  It sure felt good to run again; I was going through withdrawals.  Now, more trigger therapy and stretching!  I'm going to take the rest of the day off.  Still have the sniffles.

Yea! That is great news!

Got 15 miles in on the trainer today... hoping there will be enough time tomorrow for both a swim and a run before my daughter's play date.

yogachic - 2010-01-09 3:39 AMThanks everyone for indulging in my "bike trainer" poll!  I think I have a better idea of what to get now Smile

Besides all the hunger today, I feel pretty good after my tempo run last night.  Tonight is a yoga & a movie night for me, and tomorrow morning is my long run... 10 miles this week!  It snowed all day yesterday and is supposed to snow again this afternoon, so depending on if they've cleared the running paths & how slippery it is, I may have to do my 10-miler on a treadmill.

On Sunday, I'm planning on going cross-country skiing with some of my tri club friends.  It should be fun Laughing
The green ones a couple people mentioned are most likely Kurt Kinetic. Both Kurt and Cycleops (fluid is the way to go) seem to be the most popular in the US. They're not as common here in Japan so I ordered an Elite Fluid trainer about 3 weeks back and hoping it arrives soon. I can run in anything, but I'm a wimp on the bike.

I just got home from top speed running.  It was a very nice experience for my first time to a running shop.  I got some new shoes and hopefully I will be able to run for longer that 10 min at a time now.  Looking to boost my running stats next week.  I also was able to get on the rollers today for a 40 min session.  keep up the good work team.

Just back from my 21.5k, long run. Miserable, cold, windy, chill-to-your-bones morning!

Glad to have it done & home to warm up!!

I just barely survived taking the kids ice skating ouitside... I don't think I'm ever going to warm up!! I just can't bring myself to go back out there for an extended period of time. I think I'm going to head over to the Y after my daughter's playdate for some swimming, indoor running on the track and some hot tub!!

Hi Team,

I am warm now after a nice and sunny but very chilly 18k run. We made it scenic to take our minds off the cold! :D it was great!! Starbucks and a hot shower help get the cold off!

I did get my strength in yesterday so i can report back to Jenna but i didn't get my bike time in. So i might do it today! Just taking it easy.

Got in 6.27 miles this morning. Pretty cold (22F) with a brisk breeze. I felt more tired than usual but it was sunny and the tunes were good, not a bad run for me all in all.

Tomorrow a rest from running, maybe a light swim and/or some core work.

I was wondering if anyone here did a program that followed the following format?
sun: swim
mon: bike
tues: run
wed: rest
Repeat cycle every 4 days

I think I like this schedule but I also like having the same day of the week be the same kind of workout so I can get used to it.  what do you think of this?

Hey all, just a quick update from me (will read & respond to everyone's comments when I have time, maybe later tonight)....

Yesterday I was dreading my treadmill 10-miler, so I kept putting it off and putting it off.  I was supposed to meet a friend for brunch, and I realized I put it off too long... So I ended up just bundling up and running outside for a bit, then running to my brunch.  I was a little short (9.14 miles) but I did get most of it done!

This morning was a recovery run with my tri club.  Including the distance I ran to get to the meeting spot & back, it was a total of 6 miles.  Afterward, some of us went cross country skiing (my first time!) so I got some extra cross training in there.

I hope everyone's weekend's going well!  Happy training!! Smile

My schedule really revolves around what I'm training for at the time.  Right now, my main focus is on my marathon plan, so my only structure is for running.  I let the bike and swim training fall where it may.   Also, even with a 16 - 18 week plan, I only lock in to the paln week-by-week.  As I'm sure your finding out, training is highly individualized.   Not sure if that helps, but no that 4 day cycle would not work for me.

Way to be versatile!  Looks like you got some quality runs in and even had time for some cross training.  I've never tried x-country skiing, but it looks like a hard work out.  I bet your going to have some soreness tomorrow.
