Extreme Veteran 6066 Montreal, QC | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed So 70.3 Muskoka just opened up for registration up here in Canada... I'm leaning towards doing it. As we've been talking about goals, that is one of them. I got into tris to do an IM so that I could put a stamp on my weight loss, by the time I'm 30. I may be moving that up significantly (I'm turning 26 in 2 months). So this year, I may do the 70.3... Just have to get my head around the distance! Talk me into doing it, guys! :P |

Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed Andr3w - 2011-01-24 12:00 PM Man. Another day (possibly few days) set back on training. 4ft diameter water main or something broke last night which cut all water supply to the base and surrounding areas. Potentially could be out for the next few days. I can get my training done, but will have no way to shower. Ick, that sounds like a mess. Buy some baby wipes and keep training. ^^^ That's my attempt at being tough |

Champion 7136 Knoxville area | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed Back at it after what seems like forever off (although it was only fri/sat/sun in reality.) Atlanta was absolutely FREEZING! It was however awesome that our hotel had an enclosed walkway to the venue. Swim in this morning went fairly well, nothing amazing but some solid sets considering I usually lose my "feel" for the water after a few days. Can't believe race season is closing in. |

Champion 7136 Knoxville area | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed So we're slowing creeping up on race season. Whats everyone's first race this year? I start off with the Knoxville 1/2 Marathon April 2nd. That's (and Rev3 Knoxville) the only "definite" race on my schedule so far. Who gets to race before me? |

I start off with the Knoxville 1/2 Marathon April 2nd. That's (and Rev3 Knoxville) the only "definite" race on my schedule so far. Who gets to race before me? Local sprint race for me on May 1st. This was my first race ever and I've never raced it well. Weather is always terrible. We had 35 mph winds the first year. I only had my bike for 2 weeks before that race and I stayed in the small ring for the whole ride - just didn't know any better. Last year it was 40 degrees, 25 mph winds and sleet - nasty. Then my chain slipped off the ring. I stopped and got off the bike to fix it, again, didn't know any better at the time. This year I just want to see how I do if I don't screw up!! Hopefully I will be on a new bike too! |

Whats everyone's first race this year?/QUOTE] I think i'm the winner. I have the ING Half- marathon THIS Sunday. My brother is coming down to run with me. No snow down here :-) Although it's not gonna be a PR or PB due to my lack of training. My plan to to have fun and show my brother the sites of what i live down here. (he lives in Philly where they have 16" of snow) I then have the Nautica South Beach Tri on Arpil 10th. Those are the only 2 races that i've registered for. But more to come! |

Extreme Veteran 6066 Montreal, QC | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed First race for me is the Around the Bay, March 27th. It's my 30k run, for which training officially started yesterday. Pretty pumped about it! Also, I signed up for my HIM! Sept. 11 is the date. It's my 2nd A-Race of the year, and should be fun! Gorgeous, but tough, course. I'm REALLY looking forward to it! |

New user 66 | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed My first tri of the year will be the Rumpus in Bumpass tri on April 17. This will be the sprint distance triathlon. Can't wait! Still trying to decide whether to do the USAF Marathon again or take leave and go home for the Tri Rock series in San Diego. Both events are on mid September. |

Step-Dad is having some significant medical issues; cardiac, cancer, blood pressure. I'm hopeful, but... Injuries at work have put me on 12 hr shifts M-F, that's a 60 hour work week, for the next several weeks. I like the $$$, but I'm no spring chicken anymore-I get tired. Hope everyone is well and have a nice weekend. |

New user 21 Centennial Colorado | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed Test rode some bikes tonight.....Since the last time I purchased a bike was in the 70s, it's quite mind boggling. At the moment I'm looknig at an Orbea Onix Dama or a Specialized Ruby Comp....Does anyone have an opinion - or suggestion for what else I should go ride? As you know I'm new at this, so I want a road bike, not a tri bike for now...would appreciate any feedback. Thanks! |

As you know I'm new at this, so I want a road bike, not a tri bike for now...would appreciate any feedback. Thanks! I just got done with choosing my first bike. I had a good talk which lead to a pretty in depth fit. In that time my flexibility was also tested to help me narrow down the style of road bike frame I would best fit. Then I tried as many bikes as I could and picked the one that I felt was the best fit and enjoyed riding. I think I spent about 20-30 mins on each bike for a test ride. I noticed some bikes would feel a little uncomfortable at first, but I would get relaxed and my thoughts completely changed. |

He pulled through though so don't give up hope! He has a pacemaker/defibrillator combo AND medication to keep his heart normal but he's had another 3 years out of the deal |

I know everyone says buy the bike that fits the best but when I bought my rode bike I didn't have a clue of what a bike should feel like! I just bought the second bike I sat on. I would not recommend doing that but it has turned out fine. Maybe you can search the gear reviews on BT? |

South Florida | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap's Mentor Group - Closed Well, I'm all carb loaded up, and ready to roll. Crappy thing is, i have come down with some illness in the last 24 hours. I now have a slight fever and sore throat. Awesome... Im still debating on whether or not to wear by Brooks or my DS' Trainer. I can do the distance in the Ghost's, but thinking about wearing the DS's to see if the calf pain flares up. I probably wont PR seeing as how i feel like crap. Thought's? |
