Nautorious - 2011-07-05 8:40 PM I am flying into Chicago and staying downtown there. Can anyone recommend a bike shop to ship my bike into/out of for this event?

Try Racine Cyclery and ask for the owner, Ben.  I am sure he can help you out.

If by "staying downtown there" you mean in Racine, there are two options.

Racine Cyclery is a great shop that's right on Hwy 20.  Any maintenance I can't do myself I go there.  Very nice people.  http://www.racinecyclery.com

There is also Third Coast Bicycles which is right downtown.  They are also very nice, but I can't vouch for their quality as I've never actually had any work done there.  http://www.3rdcoastbicycles.com

Looking for a good post race restaurant for dinner. Casual, moderately priced. Any suggestions?

Turning 50 on race day and going out to celebrate with friends who are racing and family coming up to support.

I thought the roads were better than advertised.  (I had been warned!)  There's a stretch of Three Mile Rd around mile 30 that's pretty cruddy, and some turns that were gravelly, but all in all I was pleasantly surprised.

Tri-Wi put on a nice setup and all the people I met and road with were fantastic.  Shout out to David (badgerintx) for checking on me during our run...it was H-O-T on Saturday!

If you want to stay in Racine, you could try Sebastian's.  They have the best food in the area, although they aren't on the water.  The Chancery at the Radisson has the best view and food is decent.  There is no restaurant in Racine that would require you to be anything more than casual.

There have been some questions about places to eat in Racine.  Hopefully the list below will help you out on your visit.

Chancery is average, but the create your own pasta dishes are tasty as are the sandwich wraps and burgers.  I'm not a fan of their fish, but I'm picky about fish and seafood.

Ivanhoe, which is on Main St. right around the corner from the Chancery, has amazing fish tacos.  Everything else is pretty good as well, but I recommend the fish tacos.

Out of the Pan, which is just across the bridge on State St, is outstanding.  Everything on the menu is top-notch and the drinks are excellent.

Salute, downtown on Main St, has good Italian food.

If you're in the mood for steak, one of the best places in Racine is Corner House which is on Hwy 20 just south-west of downtown.  They're known for their prime rib, but everything is good.

For steak and ribs in a much more casual setting, and my favorite ribs in Racine, check out Oh Dennis! on Douglas Ave.

If you head West to the suburbs there is the standard Olive Garden, Applebees, Qdoba, Noodles, etc.

Race day is coming fast!!!  See you all in a few days.

Wave #4, bib #128!!

I wish I could join everyone for dinner before the race, but I've got family coming in from out of town to see me race and we've got plans for dinner already.  I hope everyone enjoys their visit!

And if anyone is riding on a set of Bontrager Aeolus wheels, know that a small company in Racine is responsible for the precise drilling of the spoke nipple holes.
