it KILLS me to have a cat.  I had a dog for 12 years, and just am not home enough to take care of one solo (had a lot of help from the parents who watched him during the week).  When he passed away, they were saying no more pets, as much as they loved having  him, he was easy in his old age.  So a cat for me it was.  Just no fun.  I'm trying, but right now she's difficult.  Only a year old, so basically still in puppy stage.

Thats kinda the reason I want to have an SO, so I can get a dog. come to think of it, its what I miss the most about my ex...my dog living with me!  Sigh.  Till I can afford to get my own place with a yard, its not going to  happen.  I wonder if I can train my cat to run?

I'm super lucky that my dog can roam free in the house, and she also has a dog door and a big enough back yard to run around in.   Most of my friends actually joke that the only reason I bought a house was so that I could get a dog, and they're totally right.  The day after I signed for my house I wanted to go rescue one from the shelther, and my friends talked me out of it since I still wanted to paint and do some things to the house.  The next Saturday, I was first in line at the shelter and rescued this scared little American Bulldog mixed puppy, and it's been the best decision I've ever made.  I totally get wanting a dog haha I'd do WHATEVER it takes to have one if I didn't already.

Yeah...thats what I promised my next doggy. I'd wait until I had a house with a fenced in yard, get the electronic doggy door.  Thats what we had with the puppy and my dog at the ex's house...it was beyond awesome.  They were so happy, thats why I couldn't keep my Casey in an apartment again.  He was happier at my parents with a yard and my dad at home to play with all the time.

For some reason having a pack of dogs seems better than being the cat lady...Oh did I mention my cat is Toonces?  She can't drive a car.  Yet. but I"m sure one day she will.

I got my best ever message on OKC this morning - from a guy in California.

"Hey! Sexy pics!"

Um, sure. That photo of my wearing multicolored velour stilt pants and a jester's hat is all about the sex appeal. Yep.

*sigh*

On a positive note, I am in the process of setting up a date for the Friday after next with a hot younger man (ooh la la), and am trying to work in a running date with the guy I've gone out with a couple of times. Dang busy schedules.

Teejaay - 2012-05-11 11:17 AM I think I'll just date my cats this weekend. They are quiet, don't eat much, and we have the same taste in movies. **one step closer to total crazy cat lady status.

Yeah, the only girl I've cuddled with recently is 16 pounds and very fuzzy. But she is cute, and I know how to make her purr.

What of they only swam, biked, or ran?

I had this conversation with my dad this morning. I told him it would be hard to date someone who wasn't active. It's just too integral to my lifestyle. It doesn't have to be triathlon, but it would have to someone who did at least one of those sports, if for no other reason than spending time together.

My ex husband wasn't active for most of our marriage. And, even when he did start running, we never ran together. In some ways, it was nice to have something that was just "mine." He was super supportive, though, and made it possible for me to train.

At this stage, I think I'd need to be with someone that was at least semi-active. Hell, I haven't raced a triathlon in 3 years, so I'm not exactly expecting a racer. But, my little bits of free time do tend to go towards working out/doing something active. So, if someone wants to see me, it's best if they can hang with the runnin' crowd.

I was dating someone who was a competitive runner. She and were in the same marathon training group for over a year before we started going out. Training with her was wonderful, but racing with her turned out to be a disaster. So I'd be happy with someone who was a recreational athlete. It's not like I'm paying the bills with all my 4th place AG finishes (and what's up with that??)

Ok, this is interesting. I just received an email from the wife of a friend of mine. He is an Orthodox Rabbi. They have a female friend they've met in their neighborhood who is single and they would like to introduce to me. Is this a 'Fiddler on the Roof' moment or what?

What's even odder is that we were in their neighborhood last Sunday and happened to walk down their street. They live in a very trendy (i.e. hipster) section of Philly and I was taking the kids to dinner. I haven't talked to them in about a year, but Jewish guilt kicked in and I knocked to say hello but they weren't home. And today I get this email. Spooky

Yes, minimal requirements is the other person must be active and healthy.  Most people who consider themselves "active" lifts weights, does zumba twice a week, or goes hiking one hour on the weekend sporadically.  In Hawaii, lots of people call themselves surfers but this means sitting on your surfboard for 4 hours and catching maybe 1 wave (a lot of them just drive around w/ the board on their car as a prop LOL).

Hilarious...the surfers with swag just don't do it for you I see  Well there are a couple thousand triathletes hitting Kona in five months, perhaps you can go find someone fun there and make him stay!

You know, it's kind of funny. In the real world, "Hi" would probably work. Sure it wasn't a missed instant message?
