Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Got a nice 3.64m run in today. Felt real good the whole entire way, no pain, aches, or soreness. Also had a chance to fire up my son's xbox with the Nike+ Kinect. Let me start by saying this was crazy fun! It was like I had my own personal trainer. If my chest was forward on a squat I was told to straighten it up. When my form was bad I was showed how to correct it. I am a bit of a video game nerd and to actually play a game AND get in shape at the same time is right up my alley. I thought this is going to be silly, boy was I wrong. I actually feel like I got a heck of a workout off it. When I started it had me do range of motion and then a fitness test to see where my fitness is currently and what exercises to add. Now I have my very own personal set of workouts set based on my ability that change as I progress. Pretty cool |

Regular 90 Bearspaw, Alberta | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I've been trying to force my hand a bit on some bike training. I really want to make an effort to increase all my training distances this year. So, I'm considering adding a bike only event to give me something to train towards (run is covered and I'm working on the swim). Do you think this is insane? Ultimately, I'd love to have completely half-iron distances in all 3 events by the end of the year so I could be well positioned to do a half-iron next year.
Now that the baby is older, I'll have a lot more time for training next year so the increased training necessary should be doable. I figure if I can get my long bike distances to 70km before the Chinook Oly that by mid-August I should be able to get up to 100km. I'm not currently particularly fast but because they are running a Gran Fondo at the same time, I'd have 8.5 hours to finish the distance and, I'm not THAT slow. |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Great training everyone! This weeks goal: stick to my training plan. My HM got me off the bike for a while. I also canceled my 2nd gym membership to justify buying a tri bike. The 2nd gym had a great spin class but it was hard to justify the cost especially as I try to convince my wife that I need another bike. My plan is to get a fairly entry level tri bike, trainer and use sufferfest vids and maybe trainer road. Speaking of bike. I finally got back on it for a good ride. I am in East Texas right now and the hills out here are pretty intense for me. I think not doing spin class for a month also got me. Anyways, great 2.5 hour ride on my mountain bike. Dog that bit me last time came out to say hello. I had a piece of PVC pipe in my hand this time and that seemed to stop him from clamping on. Let's all keep moving. Happy New Year all and enjoy some good beers. (I need to make a beer run today. The beer store out here is pretty hilarious. It will be interested what I can get. Bud light with lime is sometimes the fanciest thing they have....does that count as a fruity beer?) |

After racing an Oly, I find it is a blast finishing the season off with a sprint, it really hammers home all the training you have done. |

that is a a boat load of racing! My wife would kill me if i tried to to do that! I would be somewhat concerned about injury with so many long races. |

After racing an Oly, I find it is a blast finishing the season off with a sprint, it really hammers home all the training you have done. LOL! Thanks!! How did I miss that Sprint on there? Actually, you have a good point that a Sprint would be a nice way to finish things out. Unfortunately, we're going to be in Vancouver that weekend visiting the in-laws. Actually, my husband is doing the Subaru Vancouver Oly that weekend. Maybe I'll do the Sprint if Grandma and Grandpa are up for watching the kids. The medio fondo is in picturesque Nanton. It does go through some sort of hills - there's quite a bit of elevation gain. I gather it's pretty - Grand Fondo Rockies. We have a computrainer so my plan is to ride all winter and get built up. I finally got the tension set properly and got it correctly configured so I'm cycling close to my actual speed. |
