Extreme Veteran 544 Shawboro, NC | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles As you can see, I actually did 3.82 miles. I ran for time instead of distance, tonight. The pace here put my 5K time at 32:27. My shins and ankles were hurting a bit more than usual tonight, so this number can easily be improved upon.. http://runkeeper.com/user/SpeedKnight/activity/149134296?&tripIdBase36=2gsgrc
EDIT: I did some research using strava.com. I used to use it to track my mileage, but I've since shifted to using RunKeeper for the "coaching" aspect. I may start using the two in tandem. Regardless, strava.com has my 5K PR at 31:39. I hereby officially enter that as my baseline time for the "Improve by Two" challenge. Edited by SpeedKnight 2013-02-13 9:33 PM |

Those events along with a bronchial issue has sidelined me since Sunday and I am going to see how a run goes tonight after basketball practice to get going again. Good thing this is only 1 week of 52 that I blew away Ummm wow. I'm really sorry. Tough week. An acquaintance of ours went to the hospital with a bad cold. They removed a tumor, but that acted like fuel on the fire. It's blew up and there is nothing they can do. Don't worry about the miles, just try to keep your head clear. |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles Week five of being "sick." I am so tired of coughing up junk. I want this to be over. I am better, however, so I went ahead and did my 10 mile trail run on Saturday. I ran for the first time since then last night, and it was painful, but I am going to try to get back out there this afternoon for a few more miles. I am way, way, way behind on my goals. It's very disappointing, but it always seems to happen this time of year. I get some kind of lung/sinus thing that knocks me down for weeks. Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day, or as my 17 year old son calls it, "Happy Singles Awareness Day." |

Good thing this is only 1 week of 52 that I blew away Condolences from both Pink and KWDreamun. I'm so sorry. Hug your son. KansasMom, so sorry that you have been sick for so long! Hope you feel better soon. I've done very infrequent, slow, ez runs since the mary. I'll take it ez thru the weekend and then try to pick up some speedwork next week. There is a 10K that I'd like to do in a few weeks but I'll only sign up if I can do the distance in something faster than my current slow pace. It still won't be fast but it needs to be an honest attempt at more speed. |

Going to do my best to get 7 miles in today and make it a point to catch that darn pace bunny by the end of next week.
SUB 20 min 5K sounds like a great goal. I have not ran a official 5k race in years but I am pretty sure I can run a 24 min 5k. Looks like I have some work. There is a local 5K in September that I might make my target race to reach this goal.

Snow topped Mt Hood to the east and snowy coast range to the west, and me in my shorts and t-shirt for the first time in 2013. It doesn't get more beautiful than that in February in Oregon. Bunny, hope you had to run your 2.79 today in sub-zero temps with wind driven sleet and snow. |

Not happy about it but I think it's the smart thing to do. No internet challenge is worth an injury, that's for sure! Take you time, rest/heal up, and get back at it when you can. I just took some time off for my calf/foot. I'm back running again, but at a very low volume. I've personally decided to go with a run/walk interval for a while here. So far so good, but that bunny sure is getting small in the distance! According to my calculations, I should catch him sometime in September if all goes well. And if not, then I probably won't. That's OK too... |

Today, I ran 10.11 miles in less than 2 hours, at a pace that had me on par to have run a half marathon in 2:14:03!!!! During this run, I was at 31:05 at the 5K mark (PR) and 1:03:31 at the 10K mark (PR) AND I've never run more than 8.1 miles at a shot before. |

Veteran 151 Coldfoot, Alaska | Subject: RE: 1 year, 1000 miles I just want to give a big thank you for this whole group. I know i would have quit by now. But knowing that there are other people out there going along with this little challenge and checking in is keeping me going. I'll post more later but let me once again just give a big: THANK YOU In other news I've added one additional column to our database. It gives you an update of how many miles you need to run per day to meet your goal. Something I wanted to check. If you don't want to see it for your data simply delete the appropriate cell in your row. |

I work 12s and NEVER do anything on shift. I won't get up early, and I can't go to sleep after a workout.... but it was not too bad and I got 18 this week... it just really made me mad thinking that bunny was going to take another big chunk out of me. I'm holding the deficit I started with... as soon as the weather turns... it's on. And I'm happy my fitness is coming back too. I still think I'm slow and tired, but everytime I check the pace I'm doing much better than I think. Back to my old normal times... now I just need to start tacking on som emore miles. The numbers on the scale are going the right direction too. Amazing what happens when you get off the couch. |

That rascally rabbit passed my yesterday morning, but I got back by him after my treadmill run. I was going to gap him today some, but did some work on my mtn bike and then took it out instead. Guess I will wake up behind that silly bunny tomorrow (he always seems to run really early in the morning) and see if I can leap frog him and get some distance again. |
