Originally posted by Richardsdrr Hi everyone. I finally got around to reading this thread. Im in on this challenge and am good for day 4 of 4. I am following the workout posted earlier in this thread, the one with the snimated pics. Not feeling too bad at the moment. There has not been enough tubby tummy pics by the men, I would be happy with the torso of the guys that have posted sovfar. This was taken this morning about five minutes after getting out of bed, so I still have pillow marks on me. Cheers, Darren. Edit. Sorry, pic too big, must be all the blubber. I'm on phone, so can't access full site, nut if someone wants to copy and paste from this link. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151668172939020&l=7aa9be9d... Cheers.

Excellent

Here we go!  I think that takes us to a nice 5:4.  If Brad antes up, will be even.

I'm telling you, I'm in. Will post something by tomorrow night.

Day 6 complete today. I walked around videoing my friends who were competing in Tough Mudder today, totally bummed me out because I was supposed to be out there with them, but not ready to run yet. Then I drove 3 hours from the site location to my marina, and did 12'minutes worth of core work on my boat. If I can find a good mirror around, I'll get a picture. Might wait until tomorrow for the privacy of home, though.

Here's my core challenge exercise of the day:

In push-up position draw your right knee up to your right elbow and hold for 10 seconds, then take the right knee over to the left elbow and hold for 10.  If you can, go directly into the same thing with the left leg.  Keep the navel drawn tow toward the spine throughout, and the butt down.  Enjoy!

ok, can't ignore. I tried. I really, really tried... but she's like the elephant in the bathroom. Why??? And is the shower curtain edible? lickable? scratch n sniff at least?

As I look at it, it's even creepier than I thought.  I couldn't Photoshop that better.  I hope she's in the same place when I go back in there.

That's my daughter's bathroom...M&M style.  Me, wife, daughter...all names begin with M.  Our collective name is "M, M, and m", though the "m" is a 5'3" 10-year-old who is about to graduate to a full capital "M".  And she swims faster than me, which granted isn't that hard, but still...

haha! I think she should be in a different place (like staring at your abs) for the after pic. And I'm a firm believer that when kids are better at something, it's because the parents are awesome...ly bad. Probably why my 6yo rides his bmx and skateboard better than me.

Do I know the worm? Do I know the worm? Dude, every 6th grade recess I either played football or breakdanced--on cardboard, thankyouverymuch. As a matter of fact, I'm quite sure I can still do the worm, and when tri season is over, I'll shoot some sweet vid and post it. I may even have some parachute pants. Actually, now that I think about it, the worm really is a great core exercise. Thanks for the suggestion;)

Chant it with me!  MORE GUY PICS!  MORE GUY PICS!

C'mon Brad, you must've been able to find a mirror by now Smile

Here's a good laugh for team Fab Abs (I thought that could be our team name?).  Yesterday after doing 4 sets of minute long side plank, I was pondering aloud over what to do for the remaining 6 minutes.  My husband asks, doesn't the rest in between count?  Silly wabbit Tongue out

Uh, NO.  It doesn't count.  We are hard CORE here.  Get it.....hard CORE......

Hehehe...somebody had a fun Friday

Doubles are fine, but if you double you absolutely don't get to curse me the next day getting out of bed--it's all on you, man.

Thank you very much, I got Sunday done early so that I don't run into that mess again.

7 of them done at this point.

Jeez, Noelle, I like "Fab Abs" and everything, but the one that keeps jumping out to me from your post is team "Hard Core".

I've always been partial to Hard Core, myself.

Day 7 done!  10 minute Abs Ripper video.  I forgot how much that hurt!!!

Now that we're into this insane awesome adventure, some thoughts:

  • the accumulated fatigue of this is weird...like three days later I'll feel the pain from the workout
  • 10 minutes a day sounds really easy, but it REALLY isn't
  • you have to start getting imaginative in coming up with new routines and exercises so your body doesn't adapt and stop improving...the tips from the prison guards folks here help; I had a pretty standard routine I did 2-4x/week, which did OK and kept my core strong (and more importantly, my spondylolisthesis in check), and since I've been mixing it up I can really feel the difference
  • I've lost 3 lbs already, I think darn near all of it from my "Loose Cannon and Fries" handles

Thank you for starting this, Stitch! I have just started getting back into the swing of things after a back injury. Core strength is everything! And I need the push.

Every day is a tall order. But, I have to try...it could mean total freedom.

I saw this a few days late, so I have been doubling up a bit to get on schedule. One round for today complete. One more before the end of the day and I am on schedule!

Ok, knocked out my regular early in the day and that afternoon went to the gym to find the GDH machine.

I said I was going to do 4x10 sets.

I did 3x20 instead. After 10, didn't feel like to much so kept going. I asked the person next to me at work and SHE said she does 3x20, so the challenge was on. Yes, I did touch the top of my head on the ground!

I did get a tad dizzy towards the end from the big movement you have to do for a rep.

I did notice when I was walking back to work that my hip flexors did not feel tight at all. Actually felt pretty good. I am going to start doing these daily!

This workout is way too complicated for my feeble little mind, perhaps some more experienced members of group hard core can make use of it, and perhaps put up a simplified version

HAHAHA--WTF Runners' World?!

That is one of the worst articles I have ever read.  Leave it to them to take something that should be simple and make it freakin complicated.  And no pics?  Really?

And I've tried to figure this one out and I just can't.  Maybe i'm blocking on it because of the name.  Nothing like trying to do core work and envisioning a Sumo wrestler.  Classic.

Sumo
With your feet slightly wider than shoulder width and your toes straight, place your elbows in between your knees, hands together. Squeeze in with your knees.

From that position, do three of each of the following movements: side to side; circle right; circle left; figure 8; front to back.

Seriously.  What?!?
