How 'bout just an easy out-and-back to the AZ/NM state line?

Bryan - Been meaning to ask you about any Fountain Hills routes. I know the one along McDowell Mtn Rd. is supposed to be great but part of it is torn up. Looks like it goes north for a bit and then turns west. Is this a good route? Do you have anything you recommend?

Doubt we could even DREAM of keeping up with you but would LOVE for you to join us, or us join you.

Yes, they are creating a new bike line out there right now, but it's still very rideable. It's about 8 miles from Fountain Hills up to Tonto Verde, then you turn left on Dynamite and climb the famous 9 mile hill. It's only about 2-3% grade, but it long and straight and all up! Once you get up there, you can loop back to Fountain Hills through Scottsdale or double back. It's a great 45 mile ride.

I'm in for it, at least part of it. Talked to Zach, he's in too. Just finalize where and when.

Bryan - Checked out your Kona report. Impressive doesn't begin to describe it.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Pretty nice? It's downright gorgeous! I'm a proud papa of a nice used bike, but nice is the key there! I have it in my albums as I'm not smart enough to post it on my page. Here's the link though to the bike's page.

Pretty excited to get it out and start putting the miles in.

Hey P - We are looking for route suggesstions!

Allow me

Start on Fountain hills Blvd. where it leaves town heading out towards McDowell Mountain Park. There is a small strip mall there to park and meet in.
Head north up McDowell Mountain Road into Rio and Tonto Verde.
Turn right and head east up Dynamite to Pima.
Turn south on Pima down to Thompson Peak.
Turn left on Thompson Peak and work around to Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd.
Left on Frank Lloyd right to Via Linda.
Left on Via Linda and head back up to Shea.
Left on Shea up into Fountain Hills.
Left on Pallisades and drop into town and back to Fountain Hills Blvd.
Left on Fountain Hills Blvd back to parking lot.
It's about 47 miles or so all the way around.

Bryan - So is this a pretty tough ride? We are looking for something where we can all stay pretty much together and work on our pace lines (ish) for El Tour. Sounds like a nice ride. I am totally up for it if it isn't GRUELING! I am sure you will smoke us, but for us "normal" (as in non-Kona types) people will it be tough?

No, this ride is a moderate. The hardest part os the climb up Dynamite on the famous 9 Mile Hill. It's long, 9 miles long, but only about a 2.5% grade tops and straight as an arrow. It's pretty much a standard route for cyclist in Scottsdale, tons of people out there. Once you get up to Pima, it's a fast drop down toward Frank Lloyd Wright. If you all are up for it, I will shepard you around.

Looking at that elevation graph that is some NIIICE downhill for such a gradual climb. I am up for it. I will be in endurance mode so not pushing it by any means. I think the ride looks fun, something new and its beautiful back there!

What are the thoughts here? Who is game for this ride? We need to start talking times, exact meeting locations, etc.

**I suggest not tooo early in the morning!**

I'm in.  Just tell me where to go to meet up.  Also if we get there around 6:30ish with the intention of being ON THE ROAD by 7, that would be good.
