Ankle feeling better every workout. Was strong enough to say no to the half marathon I usually do in Oct when my brother-in-law called last night to ask me to run with him. Besides the race I was able to get out this morning for a 10 mile ride to stretch sore legs then I got out this afternoon for a swim in Lake Superior. That's a cold lake, but so crystal clear! It's not often I get to swim in a lake where I can see the bottom 20 ft down with perfect clarity. Such a great swim, I wish I could get up here more often, just for the swimming!

Temps drop into the 40s tonight so tomorrow's early am run should be nice.As E suggested, the impact of running 6x per week using a structured marathon plan is really taking shape. In July, the terrain I am now running left me sore and hobbled. Same terrain, one month later and going much longer distances, I feel fine. The body really goes through an adaption process with all this running and learns to accept all of the additional work. There is a method to this madness which I am coming to appreciate and understand. I may have been in better all around shape during tri season, but running shape is a different story. For the month of August my monthly total is already at a record high and hopefully September will surpass that. |
