Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great break through John! Take lots of detailed notes about how you achieved this feeling and pass it along to Trevor and myself. On second thought, screw Trevor, let him suffer. Just pass those tips along to me. ![]() I had a break through run this weekend. Did 7 miles at tempo but it was the first time I've been able to recover during a run by simply slowing down. Usually I have to come to a complete walk but instead I was able to slow the pace for a little while and then picked it back up. That is huge for me. And this is totally off topic but just got back from what I thought was a successful luncheon interview. Now we'll see if they thought I was as fabulous as I think I am. Off to do a brick workout to celebrate. Then maybe I'll through some Baskin Robins in there afterwards. What the hell, I earned it. |

Provide the details!!! For those of us still dreaming about that first race of '11 or Spring for that matter, what have you recently discovered that's made your day? or your workouts easier?
What I recently discovered that made my day today is that my run this weekend will be very scenic and awesome! I'm going to DC this weekend, staying in Arlington, and trying to plan my 7-miler for Saturday or Sunday morning. Turns out, I should be able to make it past the Pentagon, Lincoln Memorial, and around the Washington Monument before turning around. Pretty cool! What's made my workouts easier is just attitude adjustments! If you THINK it's fun, then it will be. If you think it sucks, well, it does! Workouts are all mental to me now. P.S. - Getting new shoes tonight because my knee has been hurting, and the shoe issue is the only one we can think of. I've got around 350 miles on my old ones anyway. Anybody here use Nike running shoes that they like? Found out from the old intern that they'll be mad if I show up in any shoes but Nikes, more so than other apparel! I've been wearing Brooks for years, so it should be an interesting shoe search. uh-oh. I don't get it... then again, I don't get much of what John says sometimes... |

Having problems when my shoes get worn out is not a new occurrence. My body tells me REALLY quickly if my shoes are bad. Not sure of a good running shop in my area that sells Nikes. The only stores near us I could find off a quick search were MC Sports and Dicks. I've been doing my research as best I can and seeing what Nikes are comparable to my Brooks. I will do another search though for stores! |

Ya know what John, you might just be right... It would only be an issue if I workout at their gym (which apparently is awesome). And, I'll get a discount when I work there, so I'll let my trial be at least on a pair of shoes that didn't cost me a ton of money, because I'll need a new pair about the time I get there anyway. But I may still stop in that store for fun! Apparently, we're going to a vietnamese restaurant for dinner on Friday. I voted for tapas, but was out-voted. Bummer... Their folks are good at the shoe slection. They have a treadmill you'll run on to help. If you can get a reservation, Liberty Tavern is awesome for sunday brunch. I'll PM you, with some stuff, and we can try to meet up, if you guys have time. As for the running route I leave the pentagon and run along the potomac, over the memorial bridge, past the lincoln memorial, past the reflecting pool (which has no water in it due to repairs right now), past the washington monument, along the mall next to the smithsonian, then turn around at the capital. LOL, lots of cool sights. Edited by dalessit 2011-03-02 2:36 PM |

I have been afraid of the yankx type speed laces because when I first started tri-ing, they really made my feet numb, so ever since, I've been super slow in T2, just tying my darn laces...may have to try those, the write up is very cool.
