gunshansen - 2010-06-07 10:39 AM Did anyone else have problems with the swim bag? My wetsuit, goggles, and cap are gone. Did everything they said, number on bag, everything in the bag...Gone. Checked T1 and T2 several times...Nothing.

I will ask the guy in charge of T1 if they ended up with any extra bags.

Thanks! I let the folks at the vol tent know before I left. I gave them my name and contact info. Just sent a message to Ironman, will have to wait a few weeks to see if they get anything in lost and found.

There were about a dozen folks that went back down to T1 looking for their stuff, very unfortunate.

I was told they did have extra bags in the lost and found. Maybe you had the time took look through those but if you didn't contact Ryan Robinson the RD.

Hope you find your stuff, its a sad thing if racers are taking from fellow racers.

I know that my sticker fell off my bag - maybe yours did too? I was shocked the volunteer found it for me. I actually forgot they were transporting the bags and I'd just put the t-shirt I was wearing, my water bottle and some other random stuff in it.

I'd left my wetsuit in T1 (on purpose) and was scared it might not still be there, but it was.

Hope you find yours

TriJayhawkRyan - 2010-06-07 9:22 AM So which is worse, losing your garmin on the swim or coming to T1 pre-race prep and finding your front ZIPP tire flat... changing it, and finding it flat again after the swim...?

Arg.

That really stinks; sorry to hear that. You wouldn't have happened to be the guy who came up to me in transition before the race and ask to borrow my pump because your Zipp wheel had gone flat, with a bib number in the vicinity of ~1724? If so, sorry we had to meet under those circumstances.

Overall, good times. Glad I could meet a lot of you.

Ha, ya, that was probably me.  I was 1706.

Of all the nightmares about race mishaps, coming into setup with a flat tire wasn't one of them, but then again not many races have I had to check my bike in the night before other than the IM KS.

Thanks for the pump.  I'll be lugging my own from now on to every race, maybe even to running only races to be on the safe side...

I think it is pretty standard for a 70.3 race?
I have done Kansas (3x), Redman (2x) and Austin/Longhorn (1x) and had the mandatory bike check in the day before at each of them.

Not that it makes your situation any better. Just a general comment.

Ya, this was only the 2nd 70.3 for me, so limited exposure to pre-race bike check in.
Learned my lesson.  I'm ordering like 10 80mm tubes tonight.
Guess I was just lucky last year.

I have a 405 and it measured the run course 1/2 mile short also. WOW! TriJayhawkRyan, I have no idea what to say. Just have faith that Karma will put you on the opposite end of the spectrum some day.

Honestly, the thought of someone stealing it is what bothers me the most. Hopefully it will turn up...If not then maybe karma will do its thing.

I think my next wetsuit I'm gonna stencil in white paint on the front and back "I pee in this on every swim" (HA!) Imagine the reaction from seeing that at pre-race. I Bet I could choose a tight line at the start and not have to worry about anyone crowding me...

That's a good thought... but lets be honest, EVERYONE pees in the wetsuit before the race.  It's just a matter of where... on the pavement in the chute, when you hit the water, or floating waiting for the start gun.

And luckily the pain of being done in by a flat tire is getting easier to deal with.  Just placed my order for 10-80mm tubes.  =)

Has anyone found clearwater slots for this race? The official Kansas 70.3 site isn't updated, wanted to check on some team mates and see if they got slots.

Haven't see it online anywhere, but I was packing up my campsite during the awards ceremony and could hear the roll downs. I was shocked that for a lot of the age groups, they could not get people to take the spots.

It came down to, in at least 3 or 4 age groups I listened to (including mine!), that the announcer resorted to saying "Okay, anyone in this age group who wants to go to Clearwater come to the stage." I just thought that was strange!

Yeah, I was there for the W30-34 when they offered it to anyone. My Mom actually tried to get me to actually go up there. I considered it for 1/2 a second and even might have of just for a once in a lifetime experience if I weren't so disappointed/embarrassed about how my race went.

I so wished they would've done that for M35-39.  I would have jumped on that in a heartbeat!

Does this race fill-up early?  I was thinking about doing it, depending on how my swim progresses over the next few months.  I saw that registration opened last week or so...so I'm wondering if I can still sign up this winter?

I signed up with less than a month to the event.
I don't think it has sold out in it's existance.
